I think what is considered as art is also up to interpretation.
sorry, it isnt:whistle:
my apologies
Apologies for stating something as fact, when it is actually opinion?
You are forgiven.
While I personally agree with you, I am still a part-time art student. As being one, my teachers try/are teaching me that art is not an opinion, art is a fact. But what defines something as art is difficult to explain. The most simple explanation of what is art, and what is not, is the following: (You are gonna hate me for it, but its not me, Im quoting my teacher)
Art is what is made by an artist.
Than the question arises: "Who is an artist?"
A: A person who makes art.
- Jaques Blommenstijn.
Your statement actually reaffirms my original point IMO.
Who is an artist? What is art? It is subjective, and up to interpretation IMO.
Ok here is me trying again (and even going to try to merge this discussion in with the Jack discussion:whistle:We dont want Volus-Time coming here)
Basically you are right, art can be subjective to interpretation and opinion.

Just not...Every opinon:unsure:
For example, I walk in a room and see a drawing. I might like that drawing, and think it is really beautifull. Sadly, that does not make it art. Now, not just me but a lot of people might like it. People than tend to call it art, but it still isnt. Like someone once said:"Art defines itself by being exeptional, instead of average, and is made by exeptional people."
Following this reasoning means art can be found by separating the average from the exeptional.
This is harder than it sounds. Imagine a tree full of blossoms. Now some might be real pieces of art. The rest is "average". The problem is to find the 'art ones', because there are so f*cking many af them and all might be beautifull.

An example.
Im going to show a picture that is art (Im scared now cause this is where my post did a houdini last time)

It lives!

So now, im gonna show you a picture that is not art:

You see the difference? To be honest, I dont always...

Now, I dont remember what point I was trying to make, so I would like to conclude my college by explaining why that picture of Jack that started all this,
is, in fact art.
If art defines itself by being exeptional, and made by exeptional people, that particular image has it all.
First for being an image of Jack, and second by being made bt someone who appreciates Jack. Both brings you above average:D
Hope I didnt bore anyone or made a fool out of myself:innocent:
