Well, you wanted storytime... it's a mite long, so I've whacked it straight in my blog. Done with the last track from the Watchmen soundtrack going in my head - thank you Tyler Bates.

Jack & Hannah Shepard - Round Two

Is that "I Love You"  by Tyler Bates?  This sounds like a fitting song for Jack & Shepard.

Missed this post - gah! The track's called "I Love You, Mom" on my copy of the OST... it reminds me of Vangelis a lot, so I tend to listen to it and ignore all the rest of the soundtrack

No, not at all.  The discussion revolves around Jack's fan art.  Totally relevant to the thread.

See what I just did there?:D

While that is great in theory. I think we all know 99% of viewers will end up on "the dark end of fetish street." I highly doubt many gamers would be mature enough to view a topless version of that picture as purely symbolic.

It already conveys a huge sense of vulnerability, and without being offensive or tasteless. Making her topless would open up the floodgates to comments like, "Alright! Jack porn!"

There's something funny here...

-edit. Formating for multi-quotes!!!!!!

I myself could see the symbolism of a nude version of that picture. But I know that most would not, therefore I would be inclined to feel like I'm looking at a pornographic image versus a serious attempt at tastefully conveying vulnerability through nudity.

So, because others would look upon it as pornographic, you would be "inclined to" as well? Despite supposedly thinking otherwise?

No offense, but that's rather weak-willed.

Hello, friend.  That exact moment in that scene was the also the exact moment I realized there was something very special to Jack's character.

So, about those Bears... Jack! I mean Jack!

Anyone have any requests for a scene, after the last one was received so well (and considering I'd probably have never thought of it without someone requesting it :D )?

Oh, and not discussing tattoos - I'm already toying with something like that already...

How about a scene where Jack is conversing with other squadmates. It'd be interesting because they're all intimidated by her and try to keep their distance from her, but now she's Shepard's girlfriend and they all like Shepard, so they feel like they have to talk to her when she's around even though they really don't want to .

Nice to see that more people find this scene great. Because, imo, it really shows Jacks emotions and her special&in-depth character.

I think what is considered as art is also up to interpretation.

sorry, it isnt:whistle:
my apologies

Apologies for stating something as fact, when it is actually opinion?

You are forgiven.:wizard:

While I personally agree with you, I am still a part-time art student. As being one, my teachers try/are teaching me that art is not an opinion, art is a fact. But what defines something as art is difficult to explain. The most simple explanation of what is art, and what is not, is the following: (You are gonna hate me for it, but its not me, Im quoting my teacher)

Art is what is made by an artist.
Than the question arises: "Who is an artist?"
A: A person who makes art.
- Jaques Blommenstijn.

Your statement actually reaffirms my original point IMO.

Who is an artist?  What is art?  It is subjective, and up to interpretation IMO.

Ok here is me trying again (and even going to try to merge this discussion in with the Jack discussion:whistle:We dont want Volus-Time coming here)

Basically you are right, art can be subjective to interpretation and opinion.:) Just not...Every opinon:unsure:
For example, I walk in a room and see a drawing. I might like that drawing, and think it is really beautifull. Sadly, that does not make it art. Now, not just me but a lot of people might like it. People than tend to call it art, but it still isnt. Like someone once said:"Art defines itself by being exeptional, instead of average, and is made by exeptional people." Following this reasoning means art can be found by separating the average from the exeptional.

This is harder than it sounds. Imagine a tree full of blossoms. Now some might be real pieces of art. The rest is "average". The problem is to find the 'art ones', because there are so f*cking many af them and all might be beautifull. An example.

Im going to show a picture that is art (Im scared now cause this is where my post did a houdini last time)Image IPB
It lives!:wizard:
So now, im gonna show you a picture that is not art:

Image IPB

You see the difference?  To be honest, I dont always...
Now, I dont remember what point I was trying to make, so I would like to conclude my college by explaining why that picture of Jack that started all this, is, in fact art.
If art defines itself by being exeptional, and made by exeptional people, that particular image has it all.
First for being an image of Jack, and second by being made bt someone who appreciates Jack. Both brings you above average:D

Hope I didnt bore anyone or made a fool out of myself:innocent:

Respectfully, I do not think art has to be exceptional or produced by exceptional people.

It is in the eye of the beholder.

That said, I am seeing the art in the game more in my second playthrough.

I am playing the game with new eyes.

First playthroughs I get caught up in gameplay...this time I am soaking in the many aspects of the game that I guess you can call art.

I don't really know how to put it. I kind of made myself sound like a sheep, but it's not like that . Since so many people would view it as pornography for obvious reasons, it would ruin the true meaning of it for me. I could understand and see the symbolism of a nude version of that picture, but because I know that so many people would see it as a, "hot nude Jack pic lol!", I would not like it as much because so few people can see the symbolism. It's kind of like how the horde of crazy Talimancers make you not like Tali as much.

It's hard to explain. Don't overanalyze it. I just have a different way of thinking :D.

I agree that is one of my favorite scenes of Jack. I remembering being so surprised when I first saw that. To see Jack show some significant emotion and vulnerability, when previously all you've seen from her is this tough **** attitude.

This cinematic was the clincher for me as well.  And a warm welcome to you, Derumiel.

Unfortunately, I'm drawing a blank for Mondo-fic requests (too little sleep).  Quick, someone add a request to Jackal's!  :D

This I understand! I've come to associate Tali's gas mask (used as all those avatars) with redundant lameness. So much so, that when I play the game, I expect the character to ask me what I had for breakfast on Freedom's Progress.

I did start one like that, though it was much less serious, revolving around the aftermath of a birthday celebration for Shepard... you know the way a party never dies in one fell swoop unless the cops turn up; they die by slow degrees as the morning wears on and fewer and fewer people cling on to conciousness? Jack, Grunt and Miranda discussing why Jack gave Shep nothing for his birthday (somewhat drunkenly)... it was shaping up to be rather silly, and it had a mildly lame punchline. I might go back to it, might not. But I have wondered about things like that... Grunt would be given a wide berth by virtue of being a Krogan (and the resultant stereotypical reactions of other species) and Jack would be by virtue of being a "psychopath." And both are strong warriors (and have always been together at the Rite for all my Sheps so far... so it's canon for me for Jack to be truly considered part of Grunt's krant)... it's only right for them to actually get on better with each other than anyone else.

I'll think on it... any other suggestions?

As much as part of me hasn't written anything seriously erotic in ages, I don't think something like that lends itself to my current format ;)

Seriously though, I think that something like that would be a long time down the line... probably a couple of years after the events of ME3... assuming anyone survives. I'd rather leave that one alone for now, though only because of other things that touch on it.

Jack helping Sole-Survivor Shepard with his PTSD.  Their relationship can't be all about Shepard helping Jack.  It has to be about the ways Jack helps Shepard, too, apart from their physical companionship.  It would be very revealing of her to hear her internal monologues about the ways she thinks she can help Shepard.

To give you an idea: My Shepard's nightmares about Akuze changed since being resurrected.  Previously, he would see the terrified faces of his soldiers as they panicked about the Thresher Maw.  After having been brought back, he sees the faces of his soldiers looking at him with contempt and disgust, for dealing with Cerberus.  He doesn't understand why they're angry with him, because it's not his fault that he's in this situation, but he's stricken with such terrible survivor's guilt that his nightmares don't need to be rational.

I came up with this idea after reading your Hannah & Jack fanfic, where Jack tells Shepard's mother that she sometimes wakes up at night to find him awake and physically paralyzed by his grief.

Too grimdark?

Perhaps a piece with Jack finding a confidant in female Shepard?
Romance or no romance, it would be nice to see that relationship be explored further. You know, beyond that weak "pissing around" roadblock.
Shafted is an understatement.

More how Jack would react to being cooped up at some resort for a week with a bunch of overly happy couples.

Yeah I've always thought Grunt and Jack would get along just fine. Grunt's intimidated by no one, and I don't think the fact that Jack's appearance is unusual would even phase him. And he would think her tough attitude and thirst for violence is normal. He probably finds Jack the only normal person on the Normandy . Plus I forgot that if you bring Grunt to Jack's recruitment mission, he actually says, "I like her!"

Anyway. Whatever you end up writing, I know it will be amazing. Don't mean to put any pressure on you or anything :P.

Here's my suggestion.

A few years down the line, maybe after the Reaper threat is gone. Perhaps assume Shepard and Jack both lived and are still together. They've settled down, have a home, and a child... a daughter. Shepard is away, either because he's on Spectre duty or something else just as important. Maybe he's on his way home. What would Jack's relationship with her own child be like? What would she feel is important?

I only suggest it because we've speculated in the past about what parenthood might do to Jack mentally and emotionally. If you get an idea from this, Mondo, I'd like to read it. Thanks.
