Is that a glitch, or someone getting creative with the character creator?

That's either a glitch or photoshop manipulated. You can't edit Sheploo in the creator.

Now make him green and have him wear a purple hat. Instant Green Goblin Shepard.

Nevermind, axl fixed the link.

I like that sketch a lot.  She looks like she sees something she wants to destroy.

Greetings Jackolytes. Huge Jack fan here, I' currently reading through thid thread, im up to pg 118 at the moment, very good discussion here by the way. There's real substance here as appose to some other fan threads Image IPB. Anyway, I just got finished the reading the discussion of Shepard's background and how/why he/she would fall for Jack. Personally, the Spacer/War Hero background is my favorite. I was a military kid myself, and, the aspect of being a War Hero is interesting(normally involves doing something that doesnt seem like the smarteest choice tactically). But I have no clue on why a Spacer/WarHero would fall for Jack lol. Now why that certainly wont stop me from romancing her on my canon Shep, what thoughts, if any, do you guys have on this particular topic?

And to just throw this out, Bobby's audio files are absoultely filled with win, and Mondo's writing is very awesome, a combination of funny and quite deep. Just a small shout out there. I might once become a regular poster here if I ever catch up to this thread. Its hard with all this actual discussion and content. Not that I'm complaining though, this thread is the most interesting. Ok guys, back to the hole I lurk from. Image IPB

First of all, welcome :D.

As for making sense of a spacer/war hero Shep falling for Jack. Maybe he's bored of being such a goody-two-shoes and he wants some "badassness" in his life. Really there are a lot of reasons I could think of for why a spacer/war hero would fall for Jack. I guess it boils down to the player's reason. Like what the player's actual reason is for having their Shepard do something. I like to think that Shepard's motivations are the player's motivations. Shepard's reasons are the player's reasons. You cannot say Shepard has a certain agenda, unless it's the player's agenda.

Some people try to argue that Shepard is taking advantage of Jack in her paragon romance. I believe that if that is indeed what the player was intending to do, then that is true. If the player had no intentions of exploiting her, then neither did their Shepard.

So if you wonder why your spacer/war hero Shepard chose Jack, you'd have to ask yourself, because the reason is your reason.

I always imagined that Space/War Hero shepard could relate to Jack in a way; bouncing around from spot to spot with possibly little contact, if any, with other kids. Training as an officer isloates you from the non-officers to an extent, and then the War Hero reputation making people suffer hero worship (along with the whole saving the citadel thing) makes it even worse. Jack in contrast doesn't care about any of that. (So in a way, sort of like Mr Darcy and Elizibeth Bennet in pride and predjudice.) and just accepts him for who he is, which he could do for Jack.

[...] "Oh! my dear Mr Moreau," as she entered the room cockpit, "we have had a most delightful evening, a most excellent visit to Afterlife. I wish you had been there. Miranda was so admired, nothing could be like it. Everybody said how well she looked; and Mr Taylor thought her quite beautiful, and danced with her twice! Only think of that, my dear; he actually danced with her twice! and she was the only creature in the room that he asked a second time. First of all, he asked Miss Rayya. I was so vexed to see him stand up with her! but, however, he did not admire her at all; indeed, nobody can, you know; and he seemed quite struck with Miranda as she was going down the dance. So he inquired who she was, and got introduced, and asked her for the two next. Then the two third he danced with Miss Chakwas, and the two fourth with Samara, and the two fifth with Miranda again, and the two sixth with Jack and the Asari Shuffle."
"If he had any compassion for me," cried the pilot impatiently, "he would not have danced half so much! For God's sake, say no more of his partners. O that he had sprained his ankle in the first dance!"
"Oh! my dear," continued Miss Goto, "I am quite delighted with him. He is so excessively handsome! and his acquaintances are charming people. I never in my life saw anything more elegant than their combat fatigues. I dare say the jockstrap on that particular Corsair-"
Here she was interrupted again. Mr Moreau protested against any description of finery. She was therefore obliged to seek another branch of the subject, and related, with much bitterness of spirit and some exaggeration, the shocking rudeness of Commander Shepard.
"But I can assure you," she added, "that Jack does not lose much by not suiting his fancy; for he is a most disagreeable, horrid man, not at all worth pleasing. So high and conceited that there was no enduring him! He walked here, and he walked there, fancying himself so very great! Not handsome enough to dance with! I wish you had been there, Joker, to have given him one of your set-downs. I quite detest the man."

I am now picturing the 'gang' from Pride and Prejudice on the Normandy. And the our favorite ship of misfits in the english countryside.

...I've created (an awesome) monster. But.... when does the legendarily handsome and charismatic Mr. Shepard appear? Good grief, now I'm imagining what impact Ms. Shepard would make....

Jane Austen makes my eyes glaze over, yet I ravenously consumed all of "Beowulf" in 2 hours.

I bought "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies"  in a bookstore in Sweden.   I haven't gotten around to reading it.

Was the reason for this ever confirmed, apart from the rumor about the FOX News controversy?

Blasphemy!
Doesn't even the clever fusion with Mass Effect help?

[...] Jack noticed every sentence conveying the idea of uneasiness, with an attention which it had hardly received on the first perusal. Commander Shepard's shameful boast of what misery he had been able to inflict gave her a keener sense of her colleague's sufferings. It was some consolation to think that his visit to the engineering deck was to end in little more than an hour, -and, a still greater, that in less than a fortnight she should herself be with Miranda again, and enabled to contribute to the recovery of her spirits, by all that affection could do.
She could not think of Shepard's leaving the Normandy for the day without remembering that his old acquaintance Vakarian was to go with him; but the turian had made it clear that he had no intentions at all, and agreeable as he was, she did not mean to be unhappy about him.
While settling this point, she was suddenly roused by the sound of boots descending the nearby staircase, and her spirits were a little fluttered by the idea of its being Mr Vakarian himself, who had once before intruded late in the evening, and might now come to inquire particularly after her. Without exception, everyone had underyling intentions, after all.
But this idea was soon banished, and her spirits were very differently affected, when, to her utter amazement, she saw Commander Shepard walk into her hovel. In an hurried manner he immediately began an inquiry after her health, imputing his visit to a wish of hearing that she were better after their disconcerting business at Pragia. She answered him with cold civility. He sat down on her bunk for a few moments, and then getting up, walked about the basement. Jack was surprised, but refrained from her usual vernacular of precise expletives. After a silence of several minutes, he came towards her in an agitated manner, and thus began-
"In vain have I struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you."
Jack's astonishment was beyond expression. She stared, coloured, doubted, and was silent. This he considered sufficient encouragement; and the avowal of all that he felt, and had long felt for her, immediately followed. He spoke well, if with a monotonous timber; but there were feelings besides those of the heart to be detailed, and he was not more eloquent on the subject of tenderness than of pride. His sense of her inferioirty - of its being a degradation - of the family obstacles which judgment had always opposed to inclination, were dwelt on with a warmth which seemed due to the consequence he was wounding, but was very unlikely to recommend his suit.
In spite of her deeply-rooted dislike, she could not be insensible to the compliments of such a man's affection, and though her intention did not vary for an insatant, she was at first sorry for the pain he was to receive; till, rused to resentment by his subsequent language, she lost all compassion in anger. She tried, however, to compose herself to answer him with patience, when he should have done. A faint "f**k" escaped her lips, however, but the Commander paid it no attention. He concluded with representing to her the strength of that attachment which, in spite of all his endeavours, he had found impossible to conquer; and with expressing his hope that it would now be rewarded by her acceptance of his couch and mattress.
As he said this, she could easily see that he had no doubt of a favourable answer. He spoke of apprehension and anxiety, but his countenance expressed real security, his visage a chiseled, high-resoluted texture far removed from the other gentlemen on the ship. Such a circumstance could only exasperate farther, and, when he ceased, the colour rose into hers, and she said -
"In such cases as this, it is, I believe, the established mode to express a sense of obligation for the sentiments avowed, however unequally they may be returned. F**k that. It is natural that obligation should be felt, and if I could feel gratitude, I would now thank you. But I cannot - I'm not adept at expressing delicate emotion, and I have never desired your good opinion, and you have certainly bestwoed it most unwillingly. I'm not sorry to have occasioned pain to anyone. It has been most consciously done, as well, and I hope it will be of long, drawn-out duration. The feelings which, you tell me, have long prevented the ackowledgment of your regard, will hopefully find a hard task in overcoming it after this explanation.
F**ker."

I'll stop now!

The Fox News controversy was over the display of skin, had nothing to do with the homosexual content whatsoever. Fox's guest thought that you play as a man who could have sex with any woman in the game, and the game displays women as sex objects. If you want my reason for why every love interest (besides Jacob, but maybe someone will find the lines recorded for an M/M romance with him too) has homosexual lines recorded, it's because they wanted to cover their bases in case they decided they wanted that some/one of these squad mates were bisexual. I don't think they would make everyone besides Jacob bisexual after all. I think that they decided that none of these squad mates were of bisexual orientation, writing wise.

A thought experiment:

Let's assume that Jack isn't a squadmate in ME3, but that she doesn't only get cameo treatment.   Instead, we get to see her doing two different things with her life - One for Jack influenced and/or romanced by a Paragon Shepard, and one for Jack influenced and/or romanced by a Renegade Shepard.

What would Jack be doing in these two situations?
