Someone on /v/ took this screenshot.  Consider this my apology for posting the picture of Jack with hair.  Jack's smile <3

Sterling.  Absolutely sterling.  Why have I never seen this part of the game before?

As for the DLC, I wouldn't get my hopes up.  Probably more Hammerhead missions.

The sunglasses (sunglass?) has grown on me, as it complements the rest of the outfit well, I think. Particularly in combat. Not so much in cut-scenes, however.

I'm pretty sure it's when she says, "You don't have to agree so fast, ya ****er."

I'm afraid I must disagree, sir. That's a medium shot, I believe, and not a wide shot like this one.

Look at her. Would it kill her to smile more? It's so pretty... And it has just dawned on me that I sound like my grandmother.

So Bioware's gone ahead and announced...an announcement. For DLC. Again.

I'd like to see how far they can stretch out the announcement aspect of it. Now they have announced their intention to announce a new DLC. Next they will announce that they will announce more details about their new DLC. Followed by an announcement of what type of DLC it will be with promises of further details to be announced later.

I don't want it to be the Shadow Broker. I wouldn't mind one that concentrates on an all out raid of one of the Illusive Man's other Cerberus facilities -- the ones that manufactures his cigarettes for him. Take that, Illusive Man.

Jack's smiles and Samara's smiles are like whoa.  Liara's smiles are cute, but not as striking.  I think those are the best smiles in ME2.

Part of it probably has to do with the fact that you don't expect them to smile often, if at all. Happy smiles that is, not cynical ones.

That's exactly it.  One doesn't expect a (sincere) smile out of Jack because of her confrontational demeanor.   One doesn't expect a smile out of Samara because of her unfaltering composure.

Hmm, you're right, not about the grandma part, well maybe. But where the hell is that screenshot from? I can't
think of where it was from.

I'd say part of it also has to do with the expressiveness of Jack and Samara's whole face. Liara kinda looks like she has botox going on with the forehead. Gives a dead eyes effect.

The painted-on eyebrows don't exactly help.

Speaking of Liara...after watching a clip of the character from ME2, I can safely say that the perpetually breathless and monotone voice acting could be the worst in the game.

I think it's alright.  She's trying to sound tough as she knows she's being observed.  Don't want to mention that in the Liara thread?

I dunno about all that, it just struck me as poor voice acting, lol... Very flat. Perhaps I'll youtube something from the first game to compare.

As for posting about it in the "appropriate thread"? I couldn't be bothered to be honest. I only visit this and Samara's, in terms of character threads. I have a fairly low opinion of the rest and won't willingly subject myself to their contents.

Anyone know where I can find some good high quality Jack pics. There are some good ones on this thread and you can only get so much from Google.

Well, even though I can't stand the Final Fantasy game, I know that Liara's VA voices a character in the most recent FF game.   The character is supposed to be a tough, no-nonsense type, and the tone of voice she uses for that character is the exact same as the one she uses for Liara in ME2.   I think that that voice is just the VA's interpretation of "tough".

Back when ME2 was still freshly released, I juggled between lurking in here and the Liara thread. The discussion in there was pretty good for the first hundred or so pages, then it sort of tankered off and I lost interest. I still like Liara's character, but not as much as Jack... I blame you all!

An interesting thing I found out from the Liara group though is that Bioware didn't tell Ali Hillis about Liara's character development until the day of recording. That might explain the odd voice acting. Image IPB

Yeah.  That response one of the other Liarasexuals got from Alli Hillis about Liara.   I was pretty sad about that.  She walked in to the recording studio and that very day they told her about all of the odd things they were doing with her character in  ME2.  Alli sounded like she was shocked.

I think it's fairly typical for VAs to get minimal information about their characters until the day they actually do the voice recording.

Was watching a video where the VA for GLaDOS in Portal talks about how rare it is to get genuinely good voice direction. I've wondered about the voice direction sometimes in Mass Effect, as sometimes a VA nails it and other times it is a bit lacking. It's more likely to be lacking in the minor background characters, though.

Liara's voice direction was a bit odd to me. Trying to sound menacing and mature, but failing, perhaps. It's oddness is matched by that of Liara's assistant Nyxeris.

That's quite a transition in personality types between two games, though.  Alli knew who Liara was, but who Liara now is seems to be a new person, though the Liarasexuals will tell you that she's just acting.  Myself, I would at least be confused as to what the heck was going on with the character.

All that's left is for a paper crown to be photoshopped onto her head and it'd make a great advertisement... Better than what they have now, anyway. I suppose if you haven't been to Australia, you might not "get" this...lol.

True. The only time Liara sounded as I had remembered was when you follow through all the conversationswith her and she finally relents on telling you what is up with her behavior.
