All the female LIs attract three archetypes among players pertaining to how they want to play as Shepard. Barring a better name, I call it the Solo/Kirk/Reynolds Postulate.
Some people want their Shepard to be Han Solo, which means they fall into slightly roguish territory and demanding an Ice Queen to thaw in the presence of one's perceived magnificence. Miranda fits the Leia bill perfectly.
Then again. there are a ton of Captain Kirks out there too. If you want to be Kirk, you want to be ten kinds of awesome and have green chicks fawning all over you, which is a service that Tali is happy to provide.
But the third and most rare is the Mal Reynolds (from Firefly, for the uninitiated), in which case damaged people cling to you like barnacles on the side of a fishing boat. If that's the case, and you want your Shepard to be a flawed but essentially good hero, then Jack's your girl. But I don't need to tell anyone that there are ton more people who want to be Captain Kirk or Han Solo than dear old Mal. Hence our predicament.
Of course, if you want to take my bullcrap little theory to its raggedy conclusion, then one must posit that Mal had a thing for River... Which I firmly believe is the case. ADMIT IT!
you had me til that last bit. MalxRiver wat
It's a policy of mine to try and make a joke after a big wall of text. Almost as an apology, or a cherry for reading through my scribblings. Think nothing of it.

I agree 100% and very well said. I honestly think there are more Jack fans then it seems but there is 3 very different written characters so they will attract different people I guess.BobbyTheI wrote...
Well... we still got more posts than Jacob! So... that's something to feel good about, right?
(No, it really isn't.)
Really, though, this is something I've said before: Jack fans aren't the type to go, "Oh, hey, check out this sweet new picture of Jack I made! It's got a bunch of hearts on it and Jack looks sooooo cute!" We don't go writing a hundred different fanfics with any number of permutations of how Jack and Shepard fell in lovey-dovey with each other. And we're not the type to post pointless blather posts about nothing in particular. (No offense to the Tali thread, but... I swear half the time I go on that thread, the current page is all replies to a previous post, or people going, "Okay, I'm going to sleep now, bye!" but maybe that's just because of the hours I keep.)
In short, we just show our appreciation a different way. And our way is a lot less verbose than others.

Very different people. This is just sickening.

Yup. I'm on the internet. Dear Lord, those Sarah McLachlan dog commercials don't depress me as badly as that picture does.

But yea. Jack... yay.
Shepard - "Jack stay here and help Garrus"
Jack - "Yep."

I don't generally play my Shepard as a Captain Mal type character but i agree with your analogy. That's sorta why i like Jack because she's flawed and has a lot of emotional baggage. It reminds me of a line Shepard says during Ashley's romance, about everyone comes with baggage and the trick is finding a "matched set"(that's one of my favorite Shepard lines so i had to throw it in there).
Here's to Jack! The Psychotic Biotic!

This Thread needs more Jack Pics
One of the best ones. It's almost worth betraying Jack's trust and treating her like a **** to get that look.

even before ME2 was released, there was only ONE character I was looking forward to: Subject Zero. I skipped going to Omega. I wanted Jack in my team before anything else, and to this moment, with ever playthrough, she's my first to get. Not always in my squad (for tactical reasons), but always on the team as a first.
I love Jack, with all her harshness, crude and rude behaviour, knowing there's a bruised heart underneath. She reminds me too much of myself not to love.
Make a sig pic and I'll post it proudly.
EDIT: actually, I just noticed there's one already, gonna grab it

Have to say finally breaking down her wall at that point tugged at my heart strings alittle, and the follow up "God dammit" was cute

Ah, how sweet! NOT! ...it's just another reason to support this thread as opposed to just about all other LI-threads. This is getting ridiculous. Take a stance today or this just might become tomorrows nightmare.Archonsg wrote...
