Every time I leave a group of people, either at my house or at work or wherever, I always tell someone at random that they're in charge. So now I wonder what would happen if Shepard was leaving the Normandy and jokingly called back "Jack's in charge while I'm gone."

I wondered something close to that... it wouldn't end well IMO, especially with miranda.

I've just read the Casey Hudson interview! Hooray, I love hearing developers supporting Jack, it's like they're trying (not so subtlely) to tell gamers to give Jack a chance.

I was wondering... they keep saying that Jack is one of their favourite characters, yet many people don't like her: what will be the consequences in ME3? I'm quite that she'll have the same amount of "content" as the other Me2 LIs (with the exception of Garrus, who will be in the middle of some calibrations FOREVAH), but you know that when there's a "malfunctioning" gear in the engine you have to change it (take the Mako as example). On the other hand, I know of many features that the devs REALLY liked, like the Red Veins Of Death, and they kept them even if players fought against them.



Opinions?



Oh, and speaking of Miranda... she's one of the characters I love to hate ;-) I mean, I believe the ME2 plot wouldn't be that cool without someone like her, always struggling to be BETTER than Shepard, always second-guessing him/her, constantly covering Cerberus' ass and fighting against Jack.

Shepard prepares to leave the Normandy to deal with some personal business...


The crew of the Normandy stand assembled in the cargo bay to see the commander off.

Shep: Ok, I have to handle this situation for the Admiral, I'll be back in 28 hours. Until I get back...

Shepard appraises the crew as he walks down the line. Miranda shoots Shepard an expectant look. Garrus pretends to be looking at something on the ceiling. Thane tries to vanish into the background. Grunt jigs up and down excitedly and points at himself a lot. Jack winks at Shepard and mouths something somewhat naughty.

Shep: ... Jack's in charge.

Miranda's face drops through the floor. Garrus and Thane breathe a sigh of relief. Grunt pouts and stomps off.

Shep: Ok, crew dismissed.


28 hours later...


Shepard returns to the dock bone-tired only to find the Normandy not quite the same ship he left behind. A 20-meter gouge runs down one side of the hull, and most of the paintjob is blistered and blackened with carbon scoring. One engine is being worked upon by three engineers and one welding droid. Someone has painted a very retro set of shark teeth along the Normandy's nose, and the ship appears to have been hastily renamed "The Queen B" in red. Shepard jogs up to the cargo ramp, more than a little concerned. He is greeted by the crew - Miranda is scowling and sports a black eye and has an arm in a sling, Joker is bandaged almost from head to foot, Samara looks extremely unimpressed, Kelly is dressed in her dancer's outfit looking down at her shoes in embarassment and appears to have a lovebite on her neck, Grunt seems very pleased with his new pair of rocket launchers and down at the end of the line is Jack, enormous pirate hat on her head and a stripe of warpaint across her nose. She looks a little sheepish.

Jack: (apologetically) Look, I...

Shep: I don't want to know.

Jack: We got kinda carried away!

Shep: Not listening!

Jack: I...

Shep: (walking away, fingers in ears) LALALALALALALALALALALALALALALA!

Jack: (walking after him) It's not my fault, I swear!

I come up to get some air, and there's a new Mondofic.    Always did wonder what would happen if the whole pirate thing came to pass, and now I know.  Hilarious.

As for Jack and assault rifles (or most any weapon, for that matter), it just takes a little coalesced.ini editing.  In my games, Jack totes an AR and a shotgun.  Haven't tried giving anyone a heavy weapon yet, although it would be interesting to see if heavy weapons have unlimited ammo in the hands of squaddies just like normal weapons do.  Also, there's a hardcoded limit inside the game that limits your squaddies to two weapons apiece, more's the pity.  I really do miss ME where everyone could carry every weapon.

Finally, Day 4 is giving me a whole lot of trouble.  Those of you interested may or may not see why it's being difficult once I get it posted.  Hoping to have it out before the weekend is up, but between a bit of writer's block and real life distractions, I make no promises.
