Let's try for 9000 posts. And then do DBZ quotes all day once that happens.

You guys already saw Bioware do a comic of Liara. What do you guys say to an origin story for Jack?

Every time I leave a group of people, either at my house or at work or wherever, I always tell someone at random that they're in charge. So now I wonder what would happen if Shepard was leaving the Normandy and jokingly called back "Jack's in charge while I'm gone."

Well Jack did say she wanted to go pirate with the Normandy.

I see a scene something like this...

Shepard prepares to leave the Normandy to deal with some personal business...

Mondo.... youre my hero

I think an origin story of Jack would be a comic right up Alan Moore's alley. And since there will be a cold day in hell before he were to actually write that comic, best to move on past her origins. Tales of Pirate Jack perhaps.

An origin story of Jack sounds depressing to me.

I've done a couple of published titles before as a pro colourist, Neozoic for Red 5 and Rotogin:Junkbotz for Image. I would kill to colour a Mass Effect comic. *wistful sigh

It's an industrial colony, full of metal and smoke. A toddler girl sees a makeshift model spaceship, one of her brother's toys. She makes to grab it, a spark at the first touch. She giggles with glee, the static that's been her constant companion all her life. What little hair she's developed floats upward with the charge. Grabbing the spaceship, she runs as fast as her fat little legs can manage.

She hears people in the next room, a pair of stern men that had come to speak with her mother. Their voices and footsteps grow louder, they're heading her way. Something is wrong, her mother sounds worried. She remembers that voice the last time her brother climbed the scaffolding, her mother screaming, crying, waving her arms as her son is oblivious to her hysteria. Her children have always been too daring for her poor nerves to handle.

The door opens and suddenly she is swept into her mother's arms, the embrace tight and suffocating. She tries not to lose the spaceship in the sudden momentum, but it falls to the ground. Her mother is yelling. What did she do wrong? The men grab at her, pull her harshly from her mother's arms. They're hurting her. She cries in pain, but they don't soften their hold. Her mother is trying to beat at them with her fists, but one of them tosses her against the wall. The last image she sees of her mother is the blood on her face, the dazed look in her eyes, the redness and the tears. All goes black.

Now it is cold. Her whole body aches. Her ears ring. There is unbearable silence. Where is she? She opens her eyes, but everything is grey and the light is too bright. After a few moments, she realizes she's on a bed, a thin sheet over her body. She looks to her left, the source of the brightness. There are kids playing out there. Green trees. She can't remember if she'd ever seen green trees in real life before.

@york - I would gnaw on the wrappers, chew on the wax, spit it onto a page, and finger paint like a 5 year old maniac! ;)

I would love an origins story of Jack. But I would much prefer to see it in ME3 than a comic. I'm not a comic book kind of guy.

Yes, very nice lips indeed.  Bioware did a very good job with her.  I can even make out freckles on her face when the lighting is right.  I actually lightened this shot up a little bit before uploading it.

Jack is likely based on the singer songwriter Sinead O'Connor, born 1966. A woman with a lot of integrity but with emotional problems, likely physically abused by her mother. She also made bald very very sexy. Google her name for some pictures etc. Jack looks a lot like Sinead in her younger days.
I remember seeing Sinead on a tribute to Bob Dylan. She had just been booed off of Saturday Night Live for tearing up a picture of the pope -- connecting the Catholic Church with child abuse (read the news 20 years later, they just refuse to care it seems). She got booed off the stage again. Neil Young came on the stage after, did a Jimi Hendrix type version of  "All along the watchtower", and pointed out to the audience at the line "No reason to get excited, the thief he kindly spoke, there are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke".
Good on Bioware.

Here's a very recent and brief interview with Casey Hudson that someone posted on this forum. He talks about player feedback and the scanning minigame a bit. But if you're a Jackolyte, it will make you happy, and if you're not a fan of Miranda, it will make you laugh. So right now I am like :D:lol:.

That reminds me of one developer who said his favorite new character was Jack. May have Casey, actually. Either way I agree that Jack is a very unique character and there is stuff to be found beneath the surface. I wonder how Miranda fans are going to respond to the notion that Miranda is simpler though. Uh oh.

Oh, come on, in all fairness to anyone that considers themselves a fan of Miri, she is simpler! There's no sense of effort; talking about her seeming lack of a sense of self-worth, of only being a cog in a machine, isn't rocket science; it isn't theraputic, it's simple observation. Next thing you know she's pawing at you and quickly throwing Shep the chumline of "We can't let personal feelings get in the way of the mission." Red rag. Bull. If you want her, she's made it plain she's open to the idea of getting bitten.

Jack on the other hand, she keeps on pushing Shep away, be it with varying reasonings behind each shove out the door. Only right at the end do you get any inkling Shep might have made an impression, and even then, will she open herself up in the end? I mean, despite the way the game always throws the bedroom antics at us before the ride into "certain death" I wasn't entirely sure Jack was going to come up to see Shep in that sense. Think how many of us Jackolytes aren't willing to accept the scene as a sex scene at all... that's complexity, Miri - watch and learn while you put your catsuit back on ;)

Going to bring this back up, Miri is not simple. Both her and Jack have a similar past with Jack having more of an extream past. Miri also tries to push you away, but she admits her feelings because not only is Shepard the first man to ever make her feel that she is not a tool, she respects the hell of him. Jack is a very complex person but to say Miri is simple is a bash to the character and a stupid comment. Miri is not simple, she is a complex character, not as complex as Jack but that means nothing. I also find that bit about the catsuit very offensive.

Mondo did not use the word "simple" in the post that kraidy quoted. She used the word "simpler".

Kraidy says in his post that Miranda is not as complex as Jack.

So in the context of the posts that were quoted, what I gathered out of kraidy's post was him being offended over the catsuit comment.
