Oooohkay, I think a wee explaination is in order here (no idea why, but here we go)...
In the original interview that started off this little debate, the word used to describe the payer's interactions with Miranda was "simple." I don't think that was in any way meant to give the impression that Miri-fans are in some way dumber for angling their preference at Miranda. I think the meaning of 'simple' as used in the interview was to describe lesser complication in establishing a rapport with the character; Miranda is (and this cannot be argued in comparison to Jack) a much less complicated person. Sure, she has her own issues of trust, self-worth and a gaggle of family-related woes, but she does not had the barriers Jack has erected to keep herself safe over the years, nor does she have another layer of armor layed on top of that to push away anyone that might make the gross error of wanting to care about her. In a nutshell,
Miranda is much less complicated to reach, to touch, and if you want to go that far, to woo. There's
nothing wrong with that, either; it doesn't make her any less of a character, nor does it make great social commentary about her fanbase. If anything, the only thing I truly dislike about Miri is her attitude towards other people stinks. People change though, and I can certainly see a future where Miranda is a much different and better person (and one of my favorite blog entries illustrates that, and a few of my less serious ones take it even further thanks to Bobby's revolting influence

). All that was trying to be said in the original interview (and unfortunately not that clearly) is that Miranda is easier to reach out to, while Jack tends to bite your fingers every time you try.
The interview used the word "simple" - so I used "simpler." That's all. I don't think I'd be able to pull off saying someone with no formal education is more intellectually adept than someone engineered and educated to a genius level... not even if I wrote a really silly scene for it. I like argumentative, difficult people - that's just me though. And sure, if my life experiences and those of the people I hold dearest means I lean towards Jack more than Miri, hell, guilty as charged. Different strokes and all that.
Oh, and as for the catsuit crack - yeah, that was done purely for jest. We like to poke fun at characters around here, even Jack on occasion - it's just how we roll as the hip kids say. But yeah, it was bashing, in the same sense everyone else bashes characters for a giggle. If it offends anyone's sensibilities, jeez, lighten the hell up (something incidentally some of the regulars in here have been told for leaping to Jack's defense when someone does a little "good clean fun" bashing of their own). I won't speak for everyone else, but when I do it, it's as unintended to offend as I was when I taught my class 'The Aristocrats' joke the other day. Miri catches more flak here due to her little showdown with Jack on the Normandy, and I'll bet it's the other way around in Miri-fan threads too.
Sermon over. Peace(nik) out.
