It's either banana peels, small fish or a pair of socks. I can't tell.

This thread will continue to be level-headed as long as people here will look strangely at other people who call Jack their "waifu".

I just thought I'd throw into here that one of the appeals of the Jack thread to me was that, while those who posted here were obvious fans of Jack, their love of Jack did not seem to define them as fans. So don't disappoint me, people of this thread.

I'm assuming this is directed at me. I'm sorry but Jack gets hated on the most, especially outside of these forums, and when someone comes in here and gets on us for making some blatantly lighthearted joke about another character, that irritates the hell out of me. Especially when this person comes from a thread where far worse things are said about Jack. My interest in Jack had very little to do with me getting defensive. I just hate hypocrisy.

If this arguement didn't involve Jack, but still consisted of the same kind of hypocrisy, I would have been just as defensive.

Anyway, it's best to just drop it now.

For those unlikely few who call Jack their "waifu", here's what other ME characters have to say about it:

Samara: "It is a dangerous and short-lived existence."

Thane: "There's no future in it."

Miranda & Garrus [in unison]: "They have a way of dying."

Jacob [hiding far back into the corner]: "They have a way of ending up dead."

Legion: "There is a high statistical probability of death by gunshot. A punch to the face is also likely."

What does that even mean?

They would have to mean it sincerely. Some people use the term "waifu" to take a shot at people who sincerely have "waifus", and also to simply show that they like the character.

Do you mean, what does "waifu" mean?

Japanese phonetic for the word "wife". Or as some Americans will also coin the term, "wifey."

*cough.

In the context of the internet, that's just someone's way of staking claim on someone they're obsessed over  regardless of gender or whether said person is fictional or otherwise

Some waifu-havers get angry when people state that other people have the same waifu.

First time I read this, I thought you meant Waif Fu, which is entirely different and something I think Jack excels at.

...really?

I get liking a character, but this whole "waifu" thing seems a tad creepy.

So in this forum, it basically means a member that has an obsession with a character then.

I would rather use the word "obsession" myself, instead of the word "waifu" anyway.

Edit:  I guess the word "waifu" is a better catch all term though.  You visit 4chan too much york. /humor

Edit:  Grammar

You think if Jack ever got into a good ol' bar brawl, every punch and kick of hers would have the force of her biotics behind it? Or do you think she'd take the occasional pride in owning someone old school?

If you've ever seen a photo of a person who has put a food-offering in front of a TV or computer monitor on which there is a still-frame of some character (usually anime), that person has a waifu, and the person pictured is the waifu.

Who says 4chan never taught me anything?

Seeing how she uses biotics as a natural extension of her will (look how she throws the chair at Miranda), I think she'd use biotics even in a bar brawl ;-)

I think so.  Skilled biotics would be able to use biotics-powered martial-arts, in the style of Liara in the Mass Effect: Redemption comics.  Jack could throw a punch with the force of a speeding freight-train.

If there is still a concern about thread derailment on the subject of Jack v. Miranda, I suggest considering using this group to discuss your opinions of both (and other) characters.

Actually, the only thing I'm really concerned about is trolls and people feeding trolls. As long as we talk like civil people, I don't mind derailments about other ME characters.
