I think the numbers were put there by the Teltin researchers, for whatever purpose it served to them. I think a lot of the medical tattoos are markers to her neurological structure, perhaps the location of various eezo nodules they had manipulated. Various implants they had inserted. The fact they would go so far as to put permanent tattoos on her would indicate they were areas they worked on multiple times and wanted to track.Captain Uccisore wrote...
The numbers that are scattered about interest me. Especially the strange circles and line with the 099 on her forearms. Since they're with her first 'medical' layer of tattoos they're obviously related to the experiments she went through on Teltin, but why would those numbers be so special that she would tattoo them on her body?
Could the row of circles that trail on either side of her spinal and arm scars be the places where she was injected or somesuch? Enhancements to her bones, some form of implants, etc. etc.
*snip*
The scar on Jack's neck I initially thought of being from some sort of restraint, but now I'm thinking it was from some sort of blade. How anyone would manage to get a blade that close seems like the makings of an epic story.
Actually, as Jack does depend so heavily on her biotics, it would seem she's not much for prolonged fights. She'd tire eventually. Wonder what happens as a biotics stamina wears thin. Start missing targets. Biotice fields are weaker. Unable to project a biotic at all. It would seem the best way to defeat Jack in the end might be to just wear her down.

If that is the case, then I would say they didn't bother to sew it up then. I suppose that would not be surprising of Cerberus either, considering how she was treated. It's a pretty nasty looking scar.Jackal904 wrote...
Well if you look at the entire back of her neck it's clear that it was from surgery. Most likely an implant on her neck or the base of her skull done during her time at Teltin.JohnnyDollar wrote...
Good question, that was one of the reasons I uploaded it. It's hard to tell with that angle. The scar doesn't seem to go all the way around her neck, but I can't tell for sure. So that gives me the impression that it was a cut/gash of some sorts. With that said though, the scarring that we can see, also looks like something similar to what a collar could do.yorkj86 wrote...
@JD,
I wonder about that scar a lot. Did someone attempt to cut her throat? Is it from some kind of neck-restraint (collar)?

Hopefully this works. Two circles, one that goes around the whole tattoo, the other being more of the base of the tree. It's somewhat abstract.JohnnyDollar wrote...
Where exactly is the tree tattoo on her lower left back? I am not seeing it. Could someone circle it with ms paint or whatever?

Thank you. Know wonder I didn't see it, I was looking at the shot on the previous page instead of that series that Jackal uploaded before that.

I don't think she had a choice, because I think they were tattoo'd on her by people at Teltin. Probably to map out implants. Matt Rhodes sayed she has "medical scars."

I'll need a better look at the tats, but I swear some of them might've been cloned on her.

This picture is dark but you can still see the "tree-like" tattoo.

Makes sense. The whole "adding contradictions to add complexity of character" thing is a bit tired.
Good talking point, though. Jack's feelings on aliens, that is.
-edit. On one hand, she's more than a little distrustful, so I could see that translating into her opinion of other species. By that same token, though, she's suffered a lot at the hands of other humans, and I could see her perhaps having a little bit of an affinity for them.

Also, Matt Rhodes stressed that every single tattoo has a meaning, and every single detail on her is a part of her history.
I don't care for this.
Unless they offer a cut-scene or some such wherein she actually relays the meaning, it's pretty pointless for him to "stress."

But then whenever Bioware comes out with the complete Art of Mass Effect 2 artbook, we'll just have to see if they elaborate any further.

Well her tattoos could be elaborated on in ME3, so we just don't know the reasons behind specific tattoos just yet. Or Matt Rhodes has specific reasons for every tattoo that he added to Jack, and it's possible that only he and maybe some writers know the reasons behind individual tattoos, and we'll just never find out. When Matt Rhodes designed Jack's tattoos, I don't think he just made some kool design and decided to add it to her body. I'm sure there were more meaningful reasons why he made each tattoo.

Which makes it utterly meaningless to stress their significance. If we don't get the story, they may as well have just pasted on some "cool designs" and called it a day.
In ME2, it was fine for her to be evasive (after all, we're only just getting to know her), as it maybe added a little of mystique to the character or whatever, but if the series closes without further elaboration, then what?
"Those are none of your business" doesn't cut it in the long run.

Not really. We know that there's a reason behind each of Jack's tattoos. It wasn't just, "Oh hey lets see how much ink I can put on my body." The fact that each tattoo has a meaning, whether or not we know the meaning, adds a significant amount of depth to her appearance.

"I have a lot of profound thoughts, I'm just not going to share them. Think of me as a "deep" person, though."
-edit. Funny thing is, you could maybe get away with this sort of stupidity in real life, but not in a story.

Now, I doubt that this Scarlet character will be anywhere near as cool as Jack, but regardless - is anyone else in this thread looking forward to this title?
