Plus it's a little too early to hit the panic button just quite yet. At least not until they give us a director. Someone mentioned Kathryn Bigelow, and given how female intensive the ME series has been so far, and how entrenched in genre filmmaking that Bigelow is, I think that's a great idea. So until we come to the day where they announce that Paul W.S. Anderson is doing ME, let's keep our drawers undoused.

But...
Know in your heart that no matter how much Hollywood may bend the franchise over a barrel and rape it like a viking horde descending on an old English coastal town, they will never take our memories away; of our Shepards (who look nothing like whatever Hollywood It-Twit they cast in the lead, sometimes with different genders and racial backgrounds) defeating the Reapers once and for all... of making the most noble of sacrifices, of fighting right down to the wire, of risking it all, and maybe surviving to ride off into the sunset with that special someone in their lives (who may well just have exceptionally short hair and a lot of body art). Whatever happens, that is ours. Always.
No movie, no matter how terrible, will ever take that away from the fanbase. Regardless of how much they might f*ck it all up... it'll be ours before it was ever theirs

Bigelow did Strange Days, yeah?
Oh, Paul WS Anderson... at least Event Horizon was decent. Talk about shooting your bolt early

Given the success of AVATAR and STAR TREK last year, the higher profile a director who wants to make a sci-fi movie is, the more leeway they'll give him. If they give ME to some journeyman grunt like David Twohy or Tim Story, it'll be the most pedestrian and unimaginative pile we could have had it in our hearts to have feared.
Oh, and yes, Olivia Wilde for Jack. I can't stomach the thought of Natalie Portman as Jack, as she's completely wooden. The only reason people think of her is that she was bald in V FOR VENDETTA. It's just lazy thinking... And while I'm at it, Amy Acker for Liara.

Exactly. People are acting like the movie will somehow affect their game. And just because something different may happen in the movie than in your game, that doesn't automatically mean it's a bad movie.
Oh, and I am so stealing that viking horde analogy

I thought it was rhetorical. Yeah, Bigelow did STRANGE DAYS. She also did NEAR DARK, the only truly great vampire movie between the 1931 DRACULA and LET THE RIGHT ONE IN. She's accomplished as hell.

That they made the Star Trek timeline non-existant.

Tali would probably be the easiest to portray in a possible ME movie I would think. They could do her like Darth Vader. Have one actress walk around in the costume, and another one do the VA.
Keep her same VA that she has now for that matter.
Same goes with Wrex and Garrus (for ME1).
