In other news, I found Sam Hulick's unused theme for Jack on youtube.

Ugh...sounds like some 8-bit Castlevania music.

Pretty sure it's just a concept for the Jack theme.  If it had been used, it would have sounded much more professional and modern than that :o

They did actually use it in a sense. If you can imagine it speeded up, you can hear a twinge of that tune in the theme they did end up using with Jack.

I kinda like it in a Blade Runner sense, but nothing in the ME2 environments really fit with the heavy synth. Conjures up imagery of cyberpunk. Grittier than Omega, jammed full of tech, wires, neon... actually, kind of like walking through the streets of Hong Kong at night. Or at night ten years ago, no idea what they're like now. But it was very much a city that never sleeps, crowded, and electronics everywhere. Gritty as they tried to get with Omega, they just can't get that feeling that the world is crushing around you yet.

I'll be damned if it wouldn't help Jack in living up to her reputation, though.  The whole song sounds like dread, and if I heard it played before something was about to occur, I would think to myself, "Oh, ****, whatever this is, it's gonna **** me up".  Seriously, it sounds like Final Boss music, and I've only got one life left and one heart left and no fairies in a bottle.

On a second listen of the track I somehow got "American Woman" stuck in my head for the first several seconds.

An appropriate anthem for the Shepards out there who can't handle Jack.

How about an alternative version... ;)

Movie Night on the Normandy...

Most of the crew is sitting in a jury-rigged theatre in the cargo bay; a holo-projector is working its magic on a backwall made from stacked crates, and several rows of chairs have been set up for the audience. Grunt is sat on a crate as opposed to a flimsy chair with a copy of Finding Nemo in his hands, Jack is sat behind Miranda and kicking the back of her seat every so often, Zaeed has fallen asleep, and Shepard is hoping Miranda will stop chomping popcorn in his ear before the movie finishes. Tonight's movie - 2001.

Jack: (wearily) Christ, this sh*t is boring...

Tali: (low) Why is the black thing so important anyway? I think I must have missed something.

Jack: I think I missed that part too over the b*tch here STUFFING HER FACE!

Jack kicks Miranda's chair again, Miranda tosses a handful of popcorn over her shoulder into Jack's face. Zaeed snorts and goes back to gently snoring.

Jack: The f*ck is this?

Shep: (whispering) Popcorn. You eat it at the movies.

Jack:
Don't know why we don't all catch the vid later...

Shep:
That's not the point! This is how you're supposed to see a film like this.

Jack: What, sitting in the dark while the human trashcan here gives herself an even fatter ass eating this crap?

Jack regards a nugget of popcorn caught on her halter and tosses it in her mouth experimentally.

Jack:
Tastes like cardboard.

Miranda:
That's why you put things on it, Jack... God, you're backwards...

Jack: Like what?

Shep: Salt. Sugar. Melted butter. All kinds of things. Mordin's got some at the back of the bay...

Shepard waves his hand towards the back of the room and tries to go back to the movie.

Jack: Screw this... anyone want some of this sh*t?

Miranda tosses her empty carton over her shoulder at Jack.

Miranda: Salt and non-dairy butter substitute... I have a figure to watch, unlike some people.

Jack's face grows like thunder for a second but she reins herself in and stomps off to the back of the cargo bay. Mordin is sat by the projector and the table of goodies, paying almost no attention to anything other than what he's working with on his omnitool. Jack surveys the foodstuffs, and fills one of the cartons with popcorn for herself, then refills Miranda's. There are a selection of pumps containing various seasonings. Jack spots the non-dairy and squirts a drop of it onto her fingertips; greasy, nonspecific yellow ooze splashes her hand.

Jack: (grimacing) F*ck, this sh*t is disgusting...

Jack looks at the stuff dripping off her fingertips and a sly smile slowly spreads across her face...

Jack returns to her seat a minute or so later carrying the two cartons of popcorn. She thumps down into her chair and begins to munch loudly. Shepard casts a glance back.

Shep: Getting into the spirit of things, then?

Jack: I guess... this crap tastes ok if you drown it with toffee and chilli sauce... oh yeah, here's yours, lardass.

Jack kicks the back of Miranda's chair until she reaches back for the popcorn. Miranda eyes the glistening snack with instant suspicion.

Miranda: How do I know you didn't spit in this?

Jack: (munching loudly) I got better things to do than spit in your food... that's kid's stuff.

Miranda tosses a piece of popcorn into her mouth experimentally, decides it's safe, and resumes her eating. She suddenly stops and whips around to stare at Jack.

Miranda:
These are really warm... is this just ordinary butter?

Jack: (smirking) No, that is definately non-dairy.

Miranda scowls at Jack, but goes back to watching the movie and munching. Jack bites her lip and tries not to laugh.

Unless she spoiled the whole lot in front of Mordin, I'd say it's a good bet Jack has some sort of urinary tract infection if she's able to provide for a reasonable facsimile of butter...

Insightful seems more appropriate, I'd say.

I never grow tired of jokes about Miranda's ass :D

And I'm glad to know I'm not the only who didn't like the 2001 movie.

Just... I don't get the final joke, but maybe I'm better NOT to know what Jack has used instead of non-dairy butter ;-)

My Shepard has a history of subjecting her crews to movies that have to do with the ship's name. For Normandy, she chose "The Longest Day".

I need to write a fanfic about it.
