I wish Bioware would have also released an Adult Only version along with their Mature version.  In the U.S., mature means 17+.  That is the same requirement for R rated movies, yet it is a PG game.  Possibly R rated violence(probably not though), and in between G & PG with the romance scenes.  I would consider the romance scenes as G, but they are a little suggestive.  The cuddling is downright cheesy.  The language is PG too I beleive.  Maybe the F word was enough for an R rating 15-20yrs ago, but I think it is PG today.

They could have gone a lot further with this game, and it still could have been under a M rating.

Unfortunately, they're marketing the game to as many people as possible while spending as little money as possible.

And then you'd have parents geting asspained when they're told they shouldn't have bought the adult version for little Timmy just because it was the only version of the game left at the local game store.

I remember that once upon a time, M rated videogames were hot because "hey it's a videogame for adults, not for kids!" 9_9 yet I remember that Dragon Age's marketing relied heavily on the "Sex 'n' Blood 'n' Marilyn Manson" yet it features Tarantino like blood splatter and tame underwear love scenes, nothing similar to ME1 "fully digital sex" *insert eye rolling* <_<

Those sex scenes were hilarious. Never though I'd be laughing at something like that but...

No problem ^_^ I'm still missing the very first one I ever wrote, though. I put it in some thread and I can't remember which one it was. It was me essentially mocking Ash's reaction on Horizon and Shep saying "I WAS DEAD!" a lot. Had a couple of good lines in it, but alas it's lost to the electronic ether now...

Ha I don't know how many people agree with this. I don't think Jack's mouth would be considered PG. And the romance scenes, at least Miranda's and Jack's renegade sex scene, are more than a little suggestive. I'm glad BioWare didn't feel the need to put in a bunch of over-the-top violence and unecessary swearing and nudity. BioWare is above that. They're not Epic Games.

Think again.

Browsing your blog also reveals that you omitted two shorts you posted way back on page 64.
Maybe the latter was deliberate. Either way, there they are.

Awww, shucks! Thaks, Grapey :kissing:

Yeah, I left the other two out intentionally... wasn't particularly happy with them. Wow, I posted that one in the Ash fanthread too... I must have been feeling brave that day ;)

According to the Cerberus Daily News, a movie was made about the incident on Akuze.  I wonder if they remembered to include the fact that Shepard almost died there.  I wonder if Cerberus removed that fact from the information channels.  I wonder if Cerberus was mentioned in the movie.

I wonder how Jack would react to an action movie being made of the destruction of the Purgatory.  The movie is told from the perspective of an inmate, and the Big Bad is Jack.  The Big Bad eventually wins and escapes in the end.  It would be funny to see her reaction.

I can see the movie now. The hero, a rookie Blue Suns merc who had just been assigned to work on Purgatory. Warden Kuril had taken him under his talon, guiding his evolution into one of the best prison guards of the facility. Rookie Blue Suns Merc then watches as a ruthless psychopath of a biotic tears through his best friend, Expendable Rookie Blue Suns Merc, and about five others for no reason other than she thinks one of them looked at her funny in the bathroom. One of those people she killed was Fred -- he only had two more days until retirement.

There is an epic fight between this psychopath prisoner and a legion of guards, but Rookie Blue Suns Merc manages to get the final blow in the battle when he crosses the field of gunfire to connect the final two cables that gets Comic Relief Blue Suns Tech Guy's force field system to finally work. Rookie Blue Suns Merc looks on with the look that justice has been done that day as Jack is slowly lowered into the cryogenic tanks.

But no! Visitors to the facility. One of them speaks to Rookie Blue Suns Merc as he's observing the interrogation of a prisoner. Where were you getting those extra soap bars, prisoner? You will tell us! But no, just before the prisoner was going to crack under the pressure, some visitor comes preaching about how wrong interrogation is. Fool. But Rookie Blue Suns Merc stops with his task because he has a bad feeling about this visitor and wants to keep a better watch as they move throughout the prison. You have no idea what it's like working in the seedier life, Visitor. You don't know what it's like to be extreme. You don't know how much that soap keeps costing us to replace.

Suddenly, the entire place is in lockdown. The red lights are on. The alarms are blaring. Those damn Visitors! He knew they were up to no good. Rookie Blue Suns Merc mounts the defense. He will not let Jack escape today! Fred will be avenged! He makes it to the docking bay where he sees Jack toss young Jimmy like a ragdoll. He can hear the crack of Jimmy's neck. All Jimmy wanted was to make enough money to send back to his momma on the farm.

Rookie Blue Suns Merc narrows his eyes as he glares at Jack. She's a tiny thing. She's a bad person. He has the side of righteousness, of revenge for the innocent fallen, at his side. He focuses. He charges. But Warden Kuril's warnings from the beginning of the movie that he's just too cocky come back to haunt him as he feels his feet lift off the ground and suddenly the agonizing slam against the window. He falls to the ground. The world is dizzying. He hears voices, hears Jack. He won't pass out. He won't let the world fade to black. Painfully slowly he reaches for his pistol. Each movement is excrutiating. He can sense he doesn't have much time. The fuzzy outlines of the people talking before him are starting to move away. He lifts his pistol up, wills his eyes to focus. He sees Jack. Pulls the trigger. The shot glances off the docking bay doors, Jack is through, the doors close.

Rookie Blue Suns Merc has failed. The enemy has escaped. But as the movie fades to black, you can sense that his journey is just beginning. He knows he has to live. He knows his purpose is to destroy Jack, and hopefully those Visitors as well.

The scene goes black for a second. Then we're looking at Purgatory from the outside, sparks and explosions going off at random areas of the ship. We're seeing things from Jack's perspective as she looks out the window of a Cerberus vessel, a known terrorist outfit of extreme evil. Purgatory explodes into a million pieces. Jack allows for a sinister smile. Cue credits.

^ I'd so go watch that movie :D.

Here's two videos with Courtney Taylor's character from Alpha Protocol, Scarlet Lake. The first one is a trailer about Scarlet Lake. The second is a good ending with Scarlet Lake romanced, therefore it obviously contains spoilers. And boy it is so weird to watch because her voice is virtually identical to Jack's. It's just the tone and attitude that's different.

Scarlet Lake Trailer

Good Ending With Scarlet Lake Romanced

Just fyi, Alpha Protocol recieved terrible reviews across the board. In many reviews it was criticized for trying to be like Mass Effect in terms of character depth and interaction, but failed miserably. Plus apparently the combat is clunky and sucks, and the game is glitchy.

I'm playing it right now.  I think it deserves a score in the high 70's.  The game plays up the roleplaying element far more than ME2 does, and I respect it for that.  The developers successfully balanced equal parts TPS/FPS and RPG.

I'm not clicking on those links yet

Just found two more videos of Scarlet Lake, including her "romance" scene if you can even call it that (it's kinda lame). Both containing spoilers.

The F-word used by Jack several times may be enough for a R rating.  Since the word is spoken in a non sexual manner though(AFAIK), it may fly for a PG-13, but I don't know.

I don't see how you could see any of the romance scenes as being anything more than a little suggestive.

I don't care about seeing more nudity, I don't need it in a video game.  I also don't need some cheesy cuddling scene either.  It reeks of 13yr old cinema, and I can do without it.  I would rather them share a glass of wine on the couch and then kiss, and then have the screen go dark myself.

In Jack's paragon scene, I would rather them talk more, then hug and kiss, then have the screen go dark.  Or have the screen go dark right when they go to the bed.

The Kelly fling is the cheesiest.  You're yoeman comes up to you're quarters in a stripper's outfit and does a dance without stripping.  Then she hops on your lap like your in a strip joint.  Then you go to the bed and cuddle.  Either do it right or don't do it at all.  It's like drinking non-alcoholic beer and pretending that you are drunk.

You bought a film you've never seen purely based on my recommendation?
As Jack would put it; f@#k.
Heavy risk...

P.S
Wait...did you purchase the Criterion Edition?
That would explain the high price.

It's weird to hear it from a ME player... all the reviews I've read so far are "Mass Effect was better here, Mass Effect was better there". Uhm, I may give it a try once it hits the bargain bin.

Random question of the day: How do you think Jack (and the other squadmates) will look in ME3, assuming she's recruitable? Her default outfit, the loyalty one or the DLC biker outfit? Or a brand new one? My vote of course goes to the biker one without the infamous visor.

BTW why does that outfit make me think of Alien 4?

I've heard on good authority that Alpha Protocol is a much more nuanced experience than either Mass Effect. Which frankly isn't a stretch in many a comparison I could make.
My hopes are up. Looking forward to trying it.

Oh, and I'd like to see Jack in something akin to the DLC outfit. Minus the visor.
And Alien: Resurrection, by the way, is the most underrated installment in that film series.
Honestly, Jeunet brought some wonderful surreal touches to the stagnant formula established by Cameron's atrocious Aliens.

I'm hoping Jack still has her loyalty outfit in ME3 because I love that outfit. But I also hope that there are new outfits for everyone. It would be nice if Jack would get rid of that damn belt bra in ME3 and at least adopt the bra her CGI model wears in her FFTL trailer.

One of the things I'm most excited about (and worried about) are the appearances of your squadmates in ME3. Appearance is very important to me in video games. I will sacrifice a very powerful piece of equipment if it makes me look stupid. I don't wear any stupid outfits in Fallout 3, no matter the effects. And I won't have my character or any of my party members wear this cowl thing (I forget the name) in DA:O even though it's really useful for mage characters, because it looks incredibly silly.

Devs have said before in this forum that Kelly's "romance" is an easter egg, which is why you're still considered loyal to your ME1 LI during the cutscene before you enter the Omega 4 relay.

I want to see Jack wearing something bulkier in ME3. The DLC outfit was a good start. Something that looks vaguely military.  The armor (minus the helmet) and the fatigues the Marines wear in Aliens might look good on Jack.  Pvt. Vasquez's outfit would look good on Jack, minus the headband.

Hudson: Hey, Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?
Vasquez: No, have you?
