It's not so much about just finding a good man. It's about finding this guy (Shepard) who is genuinely nice to her and doesn't just want to use her, and who truely wants to help her out of compassion and not greed. You can tell she has never met anyone like that before. And when Shepard keeps talking to her, for once she feels like someone genuinely cares about her.

Perhaps to her there can't be just friends since the normal sense of comradere and friendship are completely ailen to her.  She's accustomed to the stonger emotions of anger and hate.  That means it's probably the stronger emotion that would be more likely to lower her shields.  Those other ones might be there, but easier to not see or ignore.

It's just a mileage-may-vary trope that's as old as the first Greek tragedy it popped up in, song doth soothe the heart of the savage beast and all that. It's only my problem with it - not trying to pick anything apart here, just my emancipated gene snarling ;)

Ya good point. That probably has a lot to do with it.

Good point indeed.
I wonder how Bioware will handle her in ME3. I mean, are we going to see some kind of  "character developement" if playing FemShep or a MaleShep who did not romance her? 'Cause I'd be quite p*** off if all we're going to hear from her in ME3 is "f*** off I don't want to talk". Definitely in-character, but not that interesting if compared to other more talkative companions ;-)

Ya it'll be really interesting to see what BioWare does with her in ME3. I hope they make her conversations significantly different depending on whether or not you romanced her in ME2. I know that would require a lot of work from BioWare but I have faith in them that they will do the right thing. Obviously I hope Jack, and every other LI, are not just cameos. They need to remain a part of your squad. (Assuming they didn't die in your ME2 playthrough of course)

I have to disagree that the reason she can not be a friend and only a LI is because of her distrust and past events. A paragon female or male shepard should be able to become more of a friend. I am not saying they would start a book of the month club together but they should be more. This was just a bad choice or writing on Bioware's side. Also this my largest complaint about Jack. It is also why fewer fans since it is all or nothing with her. Since if you do not romance her all you will see is the biotic b**ch part.

A paragon Shepard is is upfront and honest from the start.Shep says from the start why he needs her and asks her to join. There was never any hidden agenda. Shep also gives her classified files on Cerberus which for her is her true enemy. Shep also asks her as a caring person about her and seems to really care about her even before the LI option is available. Also helps her to blow up that building where it all started for her and gets her to spare that guys life that is in the building. Now this is the paragon option.

Hell after her life even a paragon Shapard's friendship would be a nice change.I think Bioware tried to hard to make her a bada** that they took it to far.Like I said before I do not expect a book of the month club to be started with them but a friendship could have started up some.

Renegade Shep should end after the sex and no friendship though

Indeed, as you dig into Jack Character, she becomes extremely different from what she appears to be. Bioware have everything in hand to make ME3 a wonderful game, this must also comes from keeping the characters alive (the ones that survived actually...) , and with all those posts about "keep X Y Z alive", or "BIOWARE must keep all recruitables in ME3", they will porbably fullow the point. Most of all if we take into consideration that Mass Effect 3 will be bought mainly by people coming from ME2. They have everything to gain

I was just thinking here and want to say some people should send some ideas to Average Gatsby for a front page revamp. We do not need what the Tali or Garrus threads have but a link to fan group, a pic or 2 of in-game screens, the Jack sigs would be nice for the support Jack thread.I am not saying a ton of fan fiction stuff but the thread can still show how Jack is a great Character. I did send some stuff to him but I do not know if he got the PM I sent.

I do not know if he cares about the thread anymore or if there is a way on this forum to take over the first post so that way they can edit it.

I'm assuming he's on youtube a lot because he has a ton of videos from ME2 and other stuff uploaded on to youtube. You could try contacting him through his youtube profile ---> www.youtube.com/user/ThatAverageGatsby

Maybe BioWare didn't invest more into the opton of being just a friend with Jack because of time constraints? I'm sure a lot of things were cut or thought about but not included because they've simply got a deadline to make the game. It's very common during a game's development.

As far as the front page like I said I did send him some stuff but not sure if he recieved it. It is not a big deal but would be nice to see it upgraded since I think Jack should get as much support as the others. I am glad he at least got the ball rolling so it is not like I am attacking him or anything.

As far as Jack very true there could be reasons why Bioware did not add more. I am just saying it does not make sense to me to blame it on her history. Jack is one of the most complex characters though so BW should have made sure not to cut corners and leave it that way if that is the reason. Also it is more then cutting corners when it is romance or nothing for a main character. It is not like taking out a line or two.

I really like Jack but I do think the all or nothing was a bad move. I hope in ME3 it is changed. Jack is a great one and all should be able to join in the fun.

Ya I hope in ME3 you can have a friendship with a squadmate of the opposite sex, instead of conversations always leading to whether or not you want to have a romantic relationship with them. The only way a female Shepard can talk to Jacob is by intense flirting, which is annoying. Even Mordin thinks you're romantically interested in him if you talk to him a lot as female Shepard, and you're not even flirting with him.

I think that's more for comedy's sake than anything else... the way she thanks him for 'letting her down gently' says it all :)

Bless 'im - Mordin thinks he's the Mack ;)

Ya good point. There seems to be a pretty high demand for being able to have simply friendships with other squadmates of the opposite sex in ME3 though.  Hopefully BioWare has noticed the high demand for them and we'll have them in ME3.

Jack looks a little like Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta which is definitely a good thing.

Natalie Portman can't be aggressive enough and Megan Fox, to put it mildly, has no talent.

Were I casting? Olivia Wilde. No question. She'd shave her head for a part this good.

Ya I think she would be great for the role. I could totally see her with a shaved head.

There's a "high" demand for a lot of things. Some of which are incompatible. I don't think Bioware should divert too much resources into building individual friendships in ME3. Frankly, I think the one-on-one conversations are overused and delving into the frienship route would make them stale.

I'd like Bioware to make a break with the static and sterile approach to the squad members (and the NPCs in any urban area really). Let the squad members develop likes and dislikes and even loves and hates within the squad. Let the squad members seek the company of each other. Let there be more occasions where everyone come together. Have the squad members interact with each other more extensively inside and outside of missions. In short; let them be true comerade of arms.

I would also, and sorry to say it in such a badass thread, like to see romances become an integral part of the story. Have romances carry over and develop similar to what was done in the Baldur's Gate-series. Equip the romantic partner with more lines when on mission with Shepard (from concern when Shepard is badly wounded, to flirtatious comments when appropriate). Anything than lends the impression to the relationship not being purely confined to the Normandy.

PS. I'd also like to see the thread starter do a little more out of the original post. One tough girl picture and another of Jack when she lets go of her guard and tears up. The ones below for instance. Anything that shows that Jack has more depth than people give her credit for.

Oh, come on, man!  You're going to troll a fan thread, and that's really the best you can come up with?

I miss the old days, when the trolls put some effort into it.

Uh I didn't know I was a troll. Last time I checked this was a discussion board where people discussed things and stated their opinions, feelings, and thoughts. I posted my thoughts on Jack. Just because they are different from the people that masturbate to thoughts of her, I'm suddenly a troll?

And old days? How long have you been on these forums? :P

BTW, you remember before the game was launched, there was this tiny article which explained how you could have a fling with someone, but afterwards someone else revealed they might have been interested but are not anymore? Was this confirmed as Kelly=fling and Jack=secretly attracted?

I'm fairly certain that Jack herself intimates in the game that she's a psycho ****. The fact that she has issues is fairly self evident and even the ship's psychiatrist hints at such. Joker's comment about how the ship can only hold so much crazy is another good one. Crazy women are nothing but trouble for most men. That's why I said no thanks. Best to admire them from afar and not get involved.

Well she was tortured, drugged and forced to kill as a child and then as an adult used, abused and even gang raped.

I think she entitled to a little ****yness.

P.S: IMO "Crazy Women" are hawt, different tastes different people.
