One thing I noticed is that Jack doesn't say the line that is exclusive to her death if she was being romanced at the time.

What was that line? I think I shot the scene with Jack's death after they were together... May be I missed something, what a shame :(

To summarize, Jack says that she knew that she was going to die on the suicide mission because she was finally happy, happy with Shepard.

She doesn't think that the order of things in the galaxy will let her have something that makes her happy, and if she does find something that makes her happy, it gets taken away from her, one way or the other.

York is saying that Bioware should have added a specific line to Jack's death scene if she was romanced.

JD, there is a specific line if she dies on the suicide mission while being romanced.

Oh, so is she the only LI that has a specific line in the death scene at the Collector Base, if she/he is romanced?

As far as I  know, yes.  Despite how much the devs seem to like Jack, there is a lot of stuff in the game that either causes her to die (missing ship upgrades), or stuff that you can only see when she dies.  As a Jackolyte, I guess that that's all flattering, in a morbid sort of way, something I can appreciate as a New Yorker, since filmmakers just love to blow up my home town.

I've been wondering about that. The only other LI who seems to have altered lines at the Collector Base is Thane, but not during his death.

In truth, I like Jack's line for a nonromance better. Sounded like she had to begun to care more about life in general, not just Shepard.

I think if Jacob is romanced, he may have specific dialog also.  Doesn't he tell FemShep when he dies, that he knew of the risks involved, and then tells her to not let the Collectors get his prize?

Has anyone been able to
trigger this conversation anywhere on Omega? I don't know if they cut it
from the game or simply made it difficult to find.

I asked that question over in the Jack thread one time.  I was told by one
or two members that you can trigger it wandering around Omega.  I have
not triggered it myself though.

I can't seem to find the exact location of the trigger. Weird.

Is it during a recruitment
mission?

I'll post this in the Jack thread and see if anyone knows.

This is a conversation from the Zaeed thread.  Can anyone help with this?

BioWare has to have a, "Priiize" easter egg in ME3. It has become such a huge forum joke, and it would be so hilarious to see a reference to it in ME3.

Like some random couple on the Citadel talking to eachother, and the guy says the "priiize" line, and the girl just laughs in his face.

About the Jack/Zaeed conversation. I only remember one person posting that they actually triggered the conversation in-game. But I have never heard it myself. And I don't believe anyone in this thread as heard it in-game either.

I tend to think that it does not exist in the game.  I do remember one poster mentioning that here, but he/she was a little vague about it, and may have been mistaken.  Surely more Jack fans, or forum members in general would have discovered this in game by now.  I would think that it would be fairly common knowledge if it was indeed in the game, at least in this thread anyway.  I would have thought that Ecael would have heard it by now also.

Maybe you need to do a certain number of events before the conversation activates.

Aah, audio questions.  I picked a good time to poke my head back into this thread.

Regarding romance lines for suicide mission deaths:  I don't have my audio archives anymore, but off the top of my head, I remember that the sound banks had lines for Jack (which was mentioned above), Thane (something like, "You look beautiful, siha"), & Jacob ("Looks like we're not gonna get our time" or something like that), at the least.  Whether or not they're in-game, I can't say for sure (I don't make mistakes in the suicide mission, baby ;)), but they're in the files.

I tried before, a while back, running around all over Omega with Jack and Zaeed, and never managed to trigger that conversation.  Not saying there isn't some really obscure trigger out there to make it happen, but I'd be willing to bet the conversation isn't actually in the game.

Speaking of audio, just happened to notice that Scarlet Lake in Alpha Protocol is voiced by Courtenay.  God, I wish the gameplay didn't suck so much, because the plot is pretty good.

Yeah, I have noticed that Obsidian doesn't like to, y'know, actually finish the games they release. If they pull that crap with FALLOUT, I've already picked out a corner that I will cry in.

And concerning Taylor, I think she was that one asari that needed a pass to get off of the Citadel. I could be wrong about this of course, but I don't think so.

I won't be purchasing Alpha Protocol anytime soon. I imagine the retail price will drop fairly quickly on this game, as compared to the time it takes for the average game to drop in price.

Yeah and she sounds virtually identical to Jack. It's so weird hearing Jack's voice come out of someone elses mouth.

I don't think they'll screw up Fallout since it's not an original IP. They apparently to have a good track record with making sequels to other developer's IP's. Plus I'm sure some people at Bethesda are watching over the whole thing and probably guiding most of it.

Where is this exactly? I don't remember running into an asari that needed a pass to get off the Citadel.

Saw this in another thread, made me laugh:

Shepard: "All right, I've earned Jack's trust... I wonder what happens now... Oh, she just put some clothes on. There's something very wrong with this galaxy."

I remember cringing when I heard Sbarge's voice coming from Kaidan the first time I played ME1. I thought for sure he must be a cameo, because surely they wouldn't use him to voice the love interest in a second game. Bah.

But when I played KOTOR again, I did find myself yelling "Dammit Kaidan!" every time Carth would do something stupid in battle.

I also paid particular attention to Juhani in that playthrough, finding where Jack's voice would peek through the accent Courtney Taylor gave Juhani.

I don't know why I try to find where a VA's tone and inflections are the same throughout their various VA characters, because once I do I'm like "Hey, Phil Lamarr!" Exception being when I figure out where Mark Meer voices other characters, because his work with Shepard disappoints me so much is nice to know he can bring life to other characters for me.

Imagine if she had the shirt on first and gaining her loyalty meant you could try the belt bra variant.

Well, to be fair, AP is the only original IP Obsidian has.  If that's the way they treat their own material, I shudder to think.

And the Asari on the Citadel on the twenty-seventh floor to the right of the staircase.  They become available after you do Garrus' and Thane's loyalty missions.

We all know that basically, FemSheps got hosed for romances in this game - certainly they didn't recieve one on par with Jack's.  I had filled my wife in on the various aspects of the relationships in the game at her queries, and this prompted my wife, last night watching me play, to ask:

"Well, if the romances for the female version of Shepard are as bad as you say, and the Jack romance so good, then why didn't make a male version of Jack for the FemSheps?", which kinda got me wondering that myself.

How odd or cool would that have been, do you think, since there was no same-sex option?

Or would it have just been too "out there"?

Well, fans of other romances would probably debate that their romance is lacking in comparison to Jack's. When it comes to the romances, I always whip out the ol' "you get out of the relationship what you, the player, are willing to put into it." I wouldn't be able to comprehend it, but I'm sure there are those out there who feel Jack's romance is poorly developed in comparison to their own preferences.

Anyway, is your wife saying that if you play a female Shepard, instead of a female Jack you get a male Jack instead? 'Cause I'm not sure Jack's personality and experiences translate into people's expectations of a male.

Now if she's wondering why there isn't a counterpart, then you'd have to analyze what gives Jack's romance weight and how you can apply that to another romance without directly copying Jack's story. If you view Jack's story as one that starts in a dark place only for her to discover the light in the end, then you do have a parallel romance in Thane. However, a lot of people find Thane's memories of his wife are a bit off-putting. And you can certainly fall into a romance with Thane easier than you could Jack.
