Of course you can.

Now, going back on topic... do you think that the Overlord DLC will feature new unique dialogue for squad members? Or will it be like the Firewalker who recycled the various "done" "we made it" of the vanilla game, or will it be like the Kasumi DLC who actually had NO other squat members in Kasumi's loyalty mission?
Speaking of the various future DLC that are meant to "bridge the gap" between ME2 and ME3, what would you like to see i.e. are we going to find out that Murtock is alive AND became a flamboyant leader of a sinister batarian political party? *insert drama*

I don't really know what to expect. It would stand to reason though, that certain squad mates would certainly have something to say. Those having to do with the Geth and Cerberus.

You mean like how Grunt was so vocal on Mordin's loyalty mission?

Honestly, no. I don't expect it. Would I like to be pleasantly suprised however? Certainly.

More than anything, that likely depends upon whether or not the voice-actors all signed contracts that bring them back to the studio to do more recording for additional content.   If not, then I predict more awkward silences where teammates who would usually have something witty to say, say nothing.  If it turns out that the Overlord disaster is just another disastrous Cerberus experiment, I'd at least like to hear Jack say, "Huh.  Figures."

I don't know if it would be good within the pacing of ME3 to find that Murtock is still alive, but  I can't think of anything apart from Jack meeting her parents that would be more conductive to the development of her character.

This makes me think about whether or not Jack considers Cerberus' experiments at Teltin that ultimately produced her, to be successes or failures.  In both cases, how would that effect how she sees herself?    Did she see herself as her own person (she probably does after her loyalty mission) or as just the product of a series of amoral procedures?

I wonder if this bridge DLC will come very late. Perhaps serve a duel purpose. Not only to create a bridge between ME2 and M3, but also serve as a tool to garner interest in ME3. Marketing strategy?

I am talking about character wise. Not game mechanics.

It would appear that each DLC tries to improve upon some aspect of ME2's gameplay and the criticisms that have come from the players. Kasumi's mission really tries to get Shepard involved in the moment and the level layout is one of the best in the game. With Overlord, I see the developers taking complaints about the Hammerhead, complaints about Shepard's inability to explore a planet, and trying to integrate that back into the game.

Lack of character interaction is a very common complaint on these forums. I could see a future DLC trying to address the issue, but it might take awhile. We could very well not see it until they start making the DLCs that are supposed to bridge ME2 to ME3. I don't know when the voice actors actually record their dialogue, but if it's relatively early in the development process, they could be brought in when the developers are still working on ME2 content while starting with ME3 content.

I'd prefer the voice-actors submitting their lines via cell-phone, or phonebooth, to the characters staring blankly at each other in silence when it's very clear they could have something to say.

Hey, if the Rooster Teeth team could get their voice actors to literally phone in their lines, I don't see why Bioware can't. Of course... the production values for Rooster Teeth were slightly on the low side back when they did that.

Fair enough. But Tali and Garrus didn't say hi to Liara, Wrex or each other either. And considering bringing them back included all the emotional stuff you're meant to feeel from that, surely having them acknowledge each other would have helped.

Heh, I seem to have completely lost track of my point, sorry.

That would have been nice to have had more dialog between Wrex, Tali, and Garrus. Even between Joker and Tali and Garrus maybe. There was a little between Garrus and Tali, but it wasn't much. If Wrex would have recognized them and a few lines would have been spoken, that would have been nice.

I think it will be like that episode of South Park where Chef's VA had quit, so they just recycled words that had already been recorded. So every word was a completely different pitch than the last. Like this. :P

I think anything significant to individual characters, like Jack learning about her parents, will be reserved for ME3. I'm not really sure what this "bridge" DLC will consist of story wise. It may not include any additional character development and just be about the reapers. Of course I would love DLC that further develops the characters, but BioWare would need to bring back the VA's for your squad, and that doesn't seem like it will happen.

Hey, wouldn't it be funny if you could mod the game so that whenever Jack and Miranda are on your squad, you could hit a key and Jack would slap Miranda?

Kind of like that old Beavis & Butthead game on Nitendo.:o

Probably what I'd most like to see a DLC that bridges the gap is setting up what kind of overall mission Shepard is going to be doing in ME3. Most people seem to think he'll be building an army. I like to think Shepard has chosen to fight the Reapers via some level of espionage. With the STG.

I don't know really where the developers could go with the squadmates and DLCs. I think they'd be reluctant to release any DLC that focused on one squadmate versus the others.

Several members told me that they couldn't even finish DA.  I am reluctant to buy the game until the price drops, if at all.  Did you like it Pacifien?

I'd guess Shep would need to rally as many species with fleets as he can, but that would invlove proof. But yeah, that shouldn't be the sole focus, or else the reapers would be highly underwhelming if that alone could stop them. Some secret weakness and army building seems more likely to me.

Maybe the Reapers are playing around with this dark energy to create some sort of worm hole to the Milky Way, or something similar.

I thought dark energy may play into it since it had several references in ME2. RPGs have taught me that if people mention it, it's likely to have some connection to whatever you're doing.

Dragon Age isn't as accessible as Mass Effect. It's definitely more in the way of "hardcore" than Mass Effect is. I did enjoy Dragon Age, it's just a lot harder to replay than Mass Effect - mostly because of the gameplay.

They switched writing teams between ME1 & 2 right? What about ME3? Anyone here anything about that?

But... Haven't we been doing that?  Provided you made decent decisions, the Rachni, Geth, Krogan and quite possibly the Quarians are going to come to your aid at the drop of a hat.  Rather than recruiting them, I think a lot of ME3 is going to consist of diplomacy and keeping them from killing each other.  These folks have history, and how well they get along will have a lot to do with the decisions you make.

But concerning the DLC, I think there will be place-setting for ME3.  Nothing too essential, as many people will buy ME3 without having bought the DLC, but they'll be basically playable Codex entries.  Nothing pivotal, but will provide foreshadowing and texture.

One thing that heartens me about the concept about bridging DLC is that the all pervading doomsday scenario of "All-Your-Squadmates-Are-Cameos-Now" got a whole lot less credence.  Being that ME2 was all character development, why bridge the two games at all if they're just gonna hit the reset button on ME3 with new squadmates anyway?  As long as the DLC doesn't consist of send-off goodbye missions, I'll buy them all with a big, dopey grin on my face.

Army building wasn't as overt in ME as it was in DA. For one thing, you could go through these missions and seemingly close off the possibility of recruiting certain armies, with no replacements. Army building in ME2 and ME1 wasn't the main objective either...basically just a side product.

I don't think we need to worry about the love interests becoming cameos. People cite ME2 as evidence that they will be, but it'st that ME3 will be the last game of the trilogy and ME2 was not.

Do you think this bridge DLC will come late, possibly next year? I would think that it would. It could help stir up excitement for the anticipation and buildup of ME3.
