Lol that's a nice way to look at it... sorta.

By saying "standard Bioware character roles" I means something like this: Jacob's role is the same of Kaidan, Miranda's role is the same of Ashley, Tali is the cute young girl like Mission of Kotor, Samara reminds me of Wynne and so on.

She certainly is far from the usual stereotypes, but she reminds me a bit of Viconia DeVir, the exiled drow priestess in the Baldur's Gate series.Epantiras wrote...
I'd also like to add that she doesn't fit in any of the "standard Bioware character roles", she's quite unconventional.

Heh, was about to write a post saying the same thing: the girl who's been treated like crap since as long as she can remember, kinda evil but with a hint of possible redemption, who's easy to get into the sack but harder to get her to fall in love with you. Oddly enough, I never really got all that into Viconia (maybe because I was a die-hard Jaheira shipper back then), but Jack is definitely the most interesting LI in this game.

In all my plays through the two Baldur's Gate games, no-one but that ridiculous excuse for a knight Anomen was interested in getting in my pants. Naturally, I told him to drop dead... there's desperate and desperate. I think I must have been misreading some of those dialogue options...

Yeah, it's a shame: modders found that both Haer'Dalis and Valygar were supposed to be romanceable, but got cut due to time. And the one guy they DID leave as a romance ended up being the most insufferable of the lot.
At least female heroes don't get shorted like they do in the old days. I just wish I found the male love interests in ME2 interesting enough to do their romance tracks. Never got the appeal of Garrus (I do like his lines in the second game, but as a romance? I dunno), and Jacob and Thane don't really jump out at me either. Maybe they're like Jack, and have a really good conversation hidden deep into their romance storylines, but I'm not rushing to do it.

Well, nobody "crossed over" like in other BioWare games, so if you were playing a female Bhaalspawn, then Sir Doucheicus is the only option. But nowadays, there's plenty of mods to make the ladies play for the other team.
And I always rationalized it by thinking that, with all the travel times and resting to memorize spells and stuff, the entire plot of BG2 probably took months. But... yeah, even with that amount of time, she does get over the dead husband mighty quickly.
Just falls into the BioWare tradition of "protagonists so sexy, everybody wants to jump their bones, even somebody who lost their spouse a few weeks ago."

Nah, I mean I was playing male in that instance and deliberately trying to get a romance going. I just sucked at that game... killing monsters, no worries. Getting laid, ****y poetry and ****ing roses. Pass the cyanide. It is kinda traditional that heroes are catnip for anything, but sometimes it borders on Greek myth... the way the Gods would screw just about anything with a hole. Hey, look, Zeus is here - King of the Douches
Incidentally, the conversation has gone in exactly the same direction in the 'Why can't I talk to Jacob without coming off like a total hooer?' thread. I've advocated Jacob as the lesser of two idiots... at least you don't get the idea he might hang himself if you told him it was a sympathy **** afterwards.
Actually, that's a thought... Anomen! I loooove flowers! >

Hee hee. You would have LOVED Saerileth. A hideous NPC mod with an underage girl as a romantic interest (and pages of justification for how, "Well, it's the dark ages, and it wasn't pedo back then!), who spoke in faux-Olde English and, if you broke up with her in a particularly vicious way, actually DIES OF A BROKEN HEART.
No, I've never played it. I've just heard stories. Very, very scary stories.

"'Tis cold in my tent this night."
"Get a thicker blanket. No, seriously. Get a thicker ****ing blanket you creepy *****."
Since we're in the character-comparison-half-hour (and this comparison seems popular to some in other threads), at least with Jack you never felt like you were selling humanity down the river for the sake of getting your oil changed... I'd rather do Alistair, and he was almost as tragic in the chat-up stakes as Anomen... licking lampposts, honestly...
If I keep banging my head on this desk...

Oh... seriously? I thought Morrigan was one of the most enjoyable NPC's in Bioware games history. Until Jack.
But changing the subject. I haven't looked in this thread for awhile and after skimming through it I'm amazed.

And it mobilized SuZe supporters to post.
What a wicked way to help Jack's cause than to revitalize this thread.
I stand in awe.

Haha ya it turned out quite nice. And very ironic.
But anyway, I found Morrigan kind of annoying. Nice to look at, but annoying. She would **** every time I did something nice for someone, and the way she talks is really annoying. But she is pretty funny sometimes. I always have her in my party though even though Wynne is more useful. I would rather have an annoying hot chick in my squad than some boring old wrinkly woman.

Now, why would you say that? Isn't the fact that many people don't remember classics like Planescepe: Torment, Baldurs Gate or that Fallout 3 (which is not Fallout in my eyes) isnt't first fallout game, enough to make me feel like old geezer?royceclemens wrote...

How many people here are Gen X-er kids of the nineties? Ex-grungers and former punkers who knew someone like Jack or (Saints preserve us) WERE someone like Jack? War-torn refugees from an era where a sneer and a bad attitude were a badge of honor?
(Oh, and bonus points if you had a Nirvana "From the Muddy Banks of the Wiskah" t-shirt)

I think the reason the thread is so tiny though is this is not used as facebook for the weird. I kinda stopped going to the Tali thread when someone said he likes to imagine his wife wearing the Tali helmet or a few of them talking about what Shep's and Tali's baby would look like with little hearts.

I'll confess to liking dressing up in the very early 90's... I went out once dressed as Alex deLarge (I still have my bowler hat!) and one time wearing nothing but bracers and a German officer's cap above the waist (I'd just seen The Night Porter for the first time - go figure...).
I also have a lot of photos of nights out that my kids will never, EVER see

Stop making me feel old!
Regardless, I wouldn't be surprised to discover fans of the character are on average a "bit" older than, say, those of 'Tali' or 'Miranda'.
