I think you know the threads to which I was tacitly referring.

The Jack thread is usually pretty slow. What we need is a topic that doesn't involve Jack's sexuallity or sending awesome interview e-mails to Jack's VA.
But these topics are to the Jack thread what Asari "mind-control" is to any thread with that topic, or what Asari genetics are to the Samara thread. Guaranteed pages of responses!

We're active when someone comes up with something related to Jack to discuss. We do not treat our thread like a chat room. So until someone comes up with something about Jack to discuss, activity here will remain slow. And I have no problem with that. We are not racing to boost our page count. This is a thread to discuss anything Jack related. It is not a chat room.

She was designed without hair, and looks best that way I think. Longer hair just doesn't seem to fit.drunken pyromaniac wrote...
I'm not in favor of her growing hair, really. It has some unfortunate implications that she's getting better just because someone loves her. Not to mention it's wrong to say there is something wrong with her just because of her appearence.
However, I am curios about you're statement though. How would growing hair imply that one is getting better? And how would getting better imply that one is loved?

To be shown compassion and caring in a galaxy she is convinced is filled with people who care only for themselves would be a beneficial existential crisis for her. Being loved doesn't guarantee that she will get better, but it will certainly be beneficial, if rough at times.

I read someone say that her shaved head was to push people away, but after romancing Shepard she doesn't need to do that anymore, therefore she should grow her hair out. It makes some sense, but I just prefer her with a shaved head. And maybe just she kept the shaved head because it's low maintanence
But like I've said before, I prefer that she keeps the shaved head, but if BioWare were to give her short hair that still looked good, then I would be fine with it.

You have my point reversed, I think. She's growing and becoming less extreme, therefore, some want her to grow hair. I think this is somewhat wrong to expect her to alter her appearence just because she's changing. I probably worded it oddly.JohnnyDollar wrote...

Of course not, I'm not saying that someone caring about her is a cure-all or anything. Don't get me wrong. I'm just speculating from the character growth we've seen so far.yorkj86 wrote...

Yeah I understand what you mean. She should positively change somehow in ME3 if you romance her. I still want her to be the foul mouthed badass we all know and love. The only change in her that I want to see in ME3 is that she'll know that she has someone that cares about her, and that she's with a group of people that she can feel comfortable and safe around that aren't out to take advantage of her.

Well she was in that cult, and kept the hair cut. I don't know, that statement made by that person seems to be rather over presumptuous to me in reality, but maybe not in the context of the game. I like her short hair just fine. In the context of the game and not in real life, I could understand that statement somewhat. Not that I buy into it, but if it was done in ME3, the longer hair may reinforce that assumption and appear that way to the player, as if the developers intended it that way hypothetically.Jackal904 wrote...

If the opinion is strickly based on her attitude changing, and therefore her hair should be longer, then that would be shallow, and dare I say EMO'ish of the person holding that opinion. The person holding that opinion sounds to be overly judgmental of a person's mental state strickly based on appearance.drunken pyromaniac wrote...

Also, all of this is operating under the assumption that Jack's loyalty mission was completed, and that she was Paragon romanced in ME2.

I agree, I was simply making a statement in response to Collider (who by no means am I accusing of being shallow). I suppose I went of on a tangent about the people who suggest that Jack should grow her hair out as a method of measuring Jack's character growth.JohnnyDollar wrote...

I agree, perhaps her showing a little bit more of compassion for others. We see a hint of this in ME2 and it seems like it would be an effective method of conveying character growth in ME3 without coming off as some sort of message against people who have an alternate appearence. You know?Jackal904 wrote...

[Side note: My family owns a hair salon, we get customers now and then who love to be adventurous with their hair..]
I kinda liked the tiny bit of fuzz Jack had in her CGI trailer. Wouldn't mind if she grew an extra few millimeters of hair for ME3. Hair fuzz is awesome to run your hands through.
*cough
Going by Mondo's idea that Jack never understood the things that happened to her as a child when she was a child, I'd like to think the cult gave Jack an emotional compass, or some sort of morality guideline.

Now that we were sorta on the topic of Jack's haircut, how about we speculate crap out of the cult she was in? Even if they did use her in the end, the cult meant enough to her to keep a tediously high-maintenance hairstyle. This isn't a matter of her looking cool or intimidating, I mean look at those overly precise patterns at the back of her head - that's gotta be a b!tch to get down right once let alone multiple times.

Jack looks quite a bit different in the CGI trailer than she does in-game. In fact, she looks a lot like the Jack we see in the lithograph. Her cranial structure is almost entirely different. I wonder which design came first? I wonder why it changed?
I also like Jack's hair just a tiny bit longer, as it appears in her trailer.
Do you really trust a cult to have a consistent moral compass? What's right and what's wrong will change at an instant, with the decision of the leader (nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah Batman- I mean, Leader!)

They just re-modeled Jack to look a lot more realistic and glammed her make-up a tad by giving her more eye shadow and black lipstick. Throw in their custom shaders and well placed lighting, and there we go.
I trust a cult to be consistent in their marketing/branding if they're acquiring followers and keeping the ones they already have. I also trust a cult to grow into an extortion racket as soon as they have the means provided for them.
