You mean as Shepard or as the real me?

Both, or choose one.

If you could say one thing to Jack, that wouldn't reveal to her any meta-knowledge she couldn't possibly know herself through in-game events, and that couldn't be perceived as creepy, what would you say to her?

"I think you'd look better with longer hair."

I'm a sappy romantic and since my main Shepard is sort of an in-game avatar of me, I would like a chance for him to say "I love you," at some point.

The tearful, angry (adorable ) yelling?

Nah, I could sort of see Jack responding well to it. I would only want to see it if it's done well of course. No narmy, melodramatic crap. I was more expecting a rant from some Jackolytes about how it's out of character or some such.

Eh, it's kind of late, and many of us are Euros.  Tomorrow morning, maybe you'll wake up to a punch in the face from Mondo.  What a thing to look forward to!  "Hey guys, what's goin-" *POW!*

I think it's a little early to use "love" yet, in terms of their relationship.  It might be very awkward, and complicate things.

True, depends on how much time there is between ME2 and ME3. It probably will be too short a period of time for it to be right. Oh well, fanfic is there for a reason.

In reality?  Probably too early.  In the ME universe?  That's a whole different animal.

But can a man with the Kirk Genes truly feel love?

In the way Shepard is portrayed, it's a little hard to imagine because Shepard hardly ever shows emotion.  Plus the game itself doesn't really delve deeply into these relationships.  We have to come up with our own in depth interpretations of it, just like we do with the rest of the characters and the story.  It just isn't as complex as what we would like it to be, or speculate upon.

That seems to be nature of the beast.  Presumably he has to feel love though.  Does it come off right?  Probably not.  If Shepard cannot truly feel love, then the "love interest" relationship is a bit of a waste.  So it would seem to me.  So we have to project it onto him I suppose.

^Lmao

Still, hypothetically speaking and ignoring the plot of the games (or perhaps after the trilogy's done), let's say that enough time has passed for that little monster known as "love" to worm its way into the odd couple's hearts. How would Jack react?

Mondo's "Walking After You" seemed pretty in-character to me, but what if it came up a different way, in some sort of conversation where Shepard actually utters "I love you". My mind is drawing a comlete blank on how Jack would react to something like that.

I think we'll get the option sooner or later. I've racked my brain and the only PC in BioWare's recent history not to drop the L bomb is The Spirit Monk. Revan and The Warden both got the option, so I don't think Shepard will be any different.

Though oddly, I think the romance option broached the subject before the PC did. Of course, how could they not, being as it's an option the player could pursue at their leisure?

So the question isn't whether Shepard will say it. That's for us to decide. The question is: Will Jack say it first? Should we be on the lookout for flying pigs?

Do you guys/gals think that there will be a dramatic mushy romantic scene, where the two LI's tell each other that they love one another in ME3?   You think Bioware will do it?  I know a lot players want it.  At least a lot of girl gamers and Liara lovers do I am sure. *cough*:D

I would really, really, really like to read a follow-up to "Walking After You".  Jack's been waiting nervously outside of the infirmary for Dr. Chakwas to give her some news.  Chakwas has a short talk with Jack about how she's having reservations about letting Jack in to see Shepard after the number she did to him, but Jack convinces the doctor.  Then, a scene where Jack pulls over the chair from Chakwas' desk and sits down on it next to the table on which Shepard is lying on as he recovers.  Shepard would be under, from the drugs.  Beyond that, there wouldn't even have to be dialogue.  It could be just her watching him vigilantly, or a monologue.  Her monologue could be her thoughts on the mess she's created, why she now feels compelled to stay, and so on.

I think I could even use just my imagination to play out in my head how the scene unfolds.

EDIT: In fact, I might rewrite my quickfic where Jack speaks with Mess Sergeant Gardner, and make it so that it would be a short conversation between the two of them while she waits to hear from Chakwas about Shepard.

I don't know.  If Bioware wanted to please everyone, then they would definitely do it.  But do you think Meer and Hale could stomach recording all of that mushy dialogue for each possible love-interest?

I don't see why not.  I don't think that it would be that much dialog.  Miniscule compared to the overall scope of the entire dialog for the game I would think anyway.  The voice directing is a question here I think though.  Shepard doesn't show much emotion about anything in the series.  That needs to change imo.

I can picture Shepard being the first to say "I love you," and Jack's response is that mischievous smile that tells you she already knows. She's kind of Han Solo that way.

I can imagine her grabbing Shep's chin and saying "don't get all mushy on me big boy".:P

"Hey, where did you get those awesome boots? I want a pair of them so we can kick the cheerleader's huge fat ass from both sides. Oh, and take that visor off, it makes you look Riddickulous. RIDDICK-ulous, get it? Ah, nevermind."
