Holy butts, Friday night quickfic time with Mondo.
Can't sleep. I blame the fact I'm sitting here listening to the Glee soundtrack and trying to get hammered. Scotch and soda is soooo not cuttin' it tonight. I'm just stunnin' with mah love-glue-gunnin'.
Oh Christ, must drink more...

I have a question. If you charm or intimidate during the Jack & Miranda fight, Jack expresses her desire to...tear Miranda apart after the suicide mission. Do you think that is that a genuine threat? Or simply Jack being angry (or something else)? How would you feel if Jack did indeed, attack Miranda after the suicide mission?
Well, I like Miranda so I wouldn't want Jack to kill her, (I fought too hard at the Collector base to keep all my crew alive) however... I find their little 'arguments' quite entertaining, so if it were up to me, I'd set up a fighting ring in the cargo bay for them to use whenever they need to blow off steam. Then a chair and a popcorn machine nearby so I have something to munch on while I enjoy the show.
Now replace every usage of the word "I" in that paragraph with "Shepard."
EDIT: After writing this I now realize that everything I just typed can be taken in a completely different way. Go me.

That was what I was originally going to say, but the problem is that confrontation happens after her loyalty mission, so after she spared Aresh. And she still said it. So, just by how the game plays out it would seem to be the romance that would have to change her mind.Collider wrote...
I am hoping that Jack "gets better" even when she is not romanced. Hopefully sparing Aresh will mean that she is genuinely not tethered to her past (in matters of behavior) as she once was.

But what if Miranda has reach but Jack has flexibility? Heavy risk...

That's unfortunate. I love Jack, but my "canon" Shepard (I have only 2 Shepards - 1 male and 1 female) did not romance her. As she is an individual with a troubled past (understatement), my Shepard was sympathetic to her. It would therefore be disappointing to see that Shepard's attempt at helping her out (loyalty mission, aresh, etc) would not yield any positive change in her. It's too early to say though - we'll see in ME3.So, just by how the game plays out it would seem to be the romance that would have to change her mind.

Jack will likely not maliciously attack Miranda while they are both crew of the Normandy. The comment was more posturing than anything else, I think. Jack declaring that if they did get into a fight, she'd win.Collider wrote...

This. It seems like good old fashioned trash talking to me more than it does anything else. If they wanted to seriously harm each other, it'd have happened before Shepard came in to break the initial squabble up.

Oh lord, have you noticed other characters who do grin in the game? Blessed be Jack for saving us from that uncanny valley.axl99 wrote...
Just noticed this now... Out of all the screencaps we've seen so far, Jack never grins...

I have decided to follow in Ecael's footsteps and create the worst playthrough for import into ME3. But it's going to be an all or nothing approach. I don't dislike any of the squadmates, so I don't see any reason not to bring them along with me into the end. I even managed to save all of them on the first try with the Shepard I consider my main version, so it's not like I had to metagame cheat to get the result I wanted.JohnnyDollar wrote...
Has anyone taken care of this in any of their playthroughs? Like brought an unloyal Miranda to the final boss. If so, are you going to import this particular save into ME3?

Yeah, in one playthrough I didn't have enough paragon points to select the charm option, so of course I sided with Jack. During the suicide mission I figured I'd just take Miranda with me the entire time so that she wouldn't die, and it turns out the only way for her to die is if you take her with you <_<. Basically Miranda got turned into a pancake.

I think I'm guna do a playthrough where just Jack and Grunt survive. Importing that will make for an interesting ME3 playthrough. Or better yet! One where just Jack and Miranda survive

I didn't meta-game or lose anyone of my first playthrough either.Pacifien wrote...

I like all of the characters to varying degrees. I like Miranda the least, mainly because I felt she was a smart ass with me whenever I tried talking to her on that Cerberus station where Shep first talks to TIM. You know what they say about first impressions.
I will have quite a few Shepards to import into ME3. I will have a few of them that will import with dead squadmates and/or non recruited ones most likely, just to see how it plays out.

Jack is the sort who probably wouldn't care too much for my sarcasm and I'd spend a good deal of my time curling into my protective ball of fear exclaiming "Don't hurt me!"
Miranda is someone I wouldn't like from the very first second I saw her. Cheerleader indeed. But I've found common ground with people I've met like that. Oddly, they seem to like me far sooner than I tend to like them, but they probably don't realize that because my default demeanor is "Don't be a dick."
Funny enough, those are the only two squadmates I can think of having a bad start should I actually meet them.

In real life, I have mixed feelings on people like Jack, as I know a few. On one hand I enjoy the sarcastic humor and brutal honesty, but the rude and in-your-face personality tends to grate me the wrong way. If Jack were real, I imagine she'd be one of those friends to hang out with occasionally, but not much else. I wouldn't have the patience for it.
But that's real life, which has no basis in lil' 'ol gameland. The reason why I like Jack so much (other than the humor), is that I'm drawn characters with depth, baggage, and a little angst (though I'm still not sure why). I like those characters that simultaneously make you want to punch them in the face and give them a hug. It's a break from the norm, and it keeps things interesting and you on your toes.
