Star Trek vs. Star Wars threads... The bane of every RASSMer...

NICKjnp, Weiser_Cain, can you take your disagreement to PM so the thread can try to remain focused on Jack?

And it's probably to everyone's benefit not to generalize about people's feelings towards various characters.

I'm done fighting with him... I tried to refocus on Jack but he wanted to continue.  I'm ignoring him from now on.

If Tali has a ship she wins. If she's in the same room as Jack she loses say, 95% of the time. Unless it's cut scene Jack and she loses instantly.

I would think if anyone had a ship, they'd win.  What would Tali do that 5% where she wins?

Cutscene Jack is a lie.

Apparently.

Didn't the Salarians plan to use it only on one Krogan colony (to deter them) but the Turians just released it on every Krogan colony and Tuchanka (to be sure)?

Well, according to the ME Wiki:

"The genophage was originally developed by the salarians. They believed that, as the consequences would be so devastating, no one would ever deploy the genophage, thus wielding it as a deterrent. However, the salarians and
the turians had different military attitudes, the turians only appreciating an approach of "massive retaliation". Once the genophage was complete, the turians immediately used it, and krogan numbers began to dwindle rapidly."

And the Codex:

"The salarians believed the genophage would be used as a deterrent, a position the turians viewed as naive. Once the project was complete, the turians mass produced and deployed it. The krogan homeworld, their colonies, and all occupied worlds were infected."

I haven't seen or heard anything about "one krogan colony", so I can't say.

I though Avina said something about it... I'll check.  As for the wiki... I never pay attention to that because of all the innacuracies in that thing.

If Tali could do that then you wouldn't need any other squadmates.

Maybe that's the 5% win ratio that was mentioned.  I can't even see that though - Jack came out of cryo at full strength.  There's no 5% there for anybody.

That's funny, considering the wiki is more accurate than the official ME2 site.

As the most powerful human biotic, she's supposed to equal or exceed Gillian Anderson's abilities, but we never get to use any of the cool stuff outside of cutscenes :(   Shockwave is underwhelming at best.

He had a disagreement over a piece of information on Samara's entry, and so discredits the rest of the information on the site.  No value judgments, just saying.

Apart from that, the site is pretty good (anal-retentive) about fact-checking.

The Official site... is the one put out by Bioware.  They are the ones who have the last say in the matter.  The site put out by fans, the wiki, is simply the fans opinion.

Depends upon what you mean by "powerful".   Jack is more destructive, Samara is more precise.

The official site isn't completely right, by Bioware's own admission. Mordin isn't 50, he's 30 (Christina Norman confirmed this, for example).

The Wiki, being a Wiki, is supposed to provide objection information only.   Critical opinion is cited and set by itself.

Apart from the Samara entry, where else have you found errors?

I'm well aware of that. I found the reaction strange, but in context of the Krogan themselves, not so much. Their primitive aggression blinds them.

Well, the krogan hate pretty much everybody.

That's not exactly the full picture. First of all, the Salarians made the gun and the bullets. Then they gave the gun to the Turians. A better example could be the use of mercenaries. If I were hunted down by a specific mercenary group, I would probably hate the mercenary group more than the faceless soldiers. I do see your point though.

My point was generally that you don't hate Smith & Wesson because they designed, manufactured and sold the gun to the guy who shot you with it.

I would also mention that the Salarians are the ones who bred Krogan for war in the first place, although that may however...make the Krogan a little less sour on the Salarians, come to think of it.

If I recall, the Salarians did nothing to the krogan but "uplift" them - give them advanced technologies and weapons and then pointed them at the rachni.  The trouble only came in after because off Tuchanka, the krogan have no natural deterrents to their massive breeding ability.  The tide of krogan had to be stemmed.  The salarians are at fault because they removed an incredibly invasive species from their natural habitat.  Technically, if you look at it, neither the turians or salarians can really be blamed for doing what they did.  The rachni had to be stopped.  The krogan had to be stopped.

Hard choices to be made, but they had to be made.

Even though their reactions to holding the Biotic Shield appear to be the same, I think Jack and Samara have slightly different methods to their biotic power.

Samara might have a natural talent for biotics that exceeds that of most Asari. I tend to think so, anyway, but there's no evidence one way or the other. Her Justicar training has certainly honed her abilities such that she can use her biotics in ways most biotics cannot. It's not that those biotics don't have the capability, they just haven't taken the training that Samara has to actually use it.

I think the reason Jack was chosen to be Subject Zero was because of all other test subjects, she also had a natural talent for biotics. All the surgery and experimentation at Teltin made sure she could get the most power out of her biotics in comparison to other humans. They broke down her mental barriers to the point where she'd exceed normal output because she's conditioned to ignore whatever mental blocks affect other human biotics.

So in short bursts, I think Jack's power might even exceed Samara's. Throw a stronger biotic punch, for instance. But if they had to go the distance, I think Samara will eventually wear Jack down.

I've never liked the condensed outline of the technological evolution the humans are currently having. Humans might reach tremendous heights with their biotics, but I don't think that'd happen within a generation of development.

Man, I hope the Official Site then gets retconned hardcore in future ME games.

I don't know what to believe anymore! :pinched:

Some BioWare writers need to get together and sort this **** out and clearly state what the true lore is.

The Codex on the Krogan Blood Rage mentions it was a very rare trait for Krogan before they put themselves through a nuclear wasteland. Then evolution brought it to prominence such that it became a trait in all Krogan seen today. So I've always wondered what Krogan were like before they blew it all up. A sensitive Krogan artist. A savant Krogan mathematician. Maybe I should direct this to the Urdnot Grunt thread since I went through the trouble of creating that thread....

ETA: Great. Top of the page and I'm talking about krogan.

Completely agree with you, York.  How cool would it have been to be able to use that ``Ymir punch`` of Jack`s on a Scion or two - or against a Praetorian?  Would`ve made a few battles a little less hazardous.  And it would have looked seriously cool to boot.
