Subjective use of the characters? I tried Jack's shockwave on a husk once, and all it did was make it stumble a bit before it managed to slap me silly. (Yes, that was insanity with the husks miracle armor.) Kaidan's neural shock landed a krogan on his ass while he was in mid-charge. Jack had to wait until she resolved some deep personal issues before she realized she could turn her ammo into warp ammo. An Adept Shepard with Kaidan and Liara made sure Sovereign-Saren never touched the ground once during the "epic" boss fight.

I had better luck with Jack on the veteran and below difficulties. All powerful biotic b*tch then.

I already know Nick is going to eventually make an appearance to tell me how great Jack's Shockwave was for him on insanity. Bah. Give me a good Flashbang Grenade and a Widow any day.

Basically, Kaiden can't hold a candle to Jack no matter the scenario. Look at what happens on Virmire. You have to go save his ass from a few geth, while Jack rips through Purgatory like a rhino in a china shop.

I imagine that Kaidan was facing a lot of geth. Jack is strong, but even she can be beaten if the numbers are scaled against her (take the event she mentions in Dark Star's restrooms for an example).

I know how many geth Kaiden was facing, I went and saved him before. And there weren't that many geth. I remember when I first went and saved him when I sent him with the salarians, I thought, "Wow Kaiden... You can't handle this many geth? Really?"

The situation she brings up at the Dark Star Lounge is on a totally different level. We don't know enough about the situation to make any assumptions other than she was attacked. But she was most likely jumped, and I read someone make the arguement that she was probably given biotic suppressants while at Purgatory, which I think is reasonable. Because if she was allowed to run around Purgatory at full power, then she would have escaped a long time ago.

See now that's not fair. Biotics were way better in ME1 and there were a lot more abilities available. And the whole loyalty bonus talent doesn't make any sense, it's just a game mechanic. Again, it's not fair to use that when determining who is better in combat. You have to look at the lore and cutscenes. Those are the only valid sources of information when it comes to debating a topic like this.

I was just following up on Mondo's post about how two people can use two characters completely differently in the game. She got more use out of Jack and very little from Kaidan. My experience was the opposite.

Hm. Jack looks kind of like Amber Rose. It's, uh, hard to find pictures of her that are safe for this board.  Not really, but she does like to show off her features.

Here's one york.

There were two others that were borderline appropriate. Not sure if I should post them. They weren't that bad besides being suggestive. The Moral Guardians would most likely dissaprove.

Well, okay.   I don't think she's very attractive either, but still, there's a slight resemblance.

Ha. Even posting links to such content got the Liara thread in trouble once. And that was just fanart.

@Pacifien whoops, too late.

Meh. I don't think they're that bad. Depends on how uptight the devs are though. It's nothing you'd show children, but children shouldn't be playing an M rated game then browsing the games' forum in the first place, now should they? ;)

Still, I'll take the links down if it gets us into trouble. I'd feel bad if that happened.

Back on the Jack/Amber comparison: to me there is some slight facial resemblence, but for the most part they look nothing alike.

What such content did they post links to over there?

Those aren't nude photos that Capt. posted links to.

Hey, I'm not going to report anyone for links around here unless we're talking *self-edited for the sake of my own fragile mind*. Some of the fanart I've seen get people in trouble are nothing more than intimate moments between Shepard and a LI in a manner no more explicit than what we see in the first game. Personally, I find it ridiculous. Might as well censor every image of a woman wearing a belt bra.

If you could choose a new power for Jack in ME3, what would it be? (except her powerful cutscene PUNCH OF DOOM)

I'd like to see a biotic 'crush'.  Miranda has "Slam" (which makes me laugh every time), and Jack needs the opposite - she can pick dudes up, make a fist and crush 'em like a beer can and then toss 'em like an empty.

That'd be sweet

Speak of the devil... no just kidding.  I prefer Grunt to Jack on Husk missions.  Also... her shockwave on Insanity is very very situational.  I bring her only when there is going to be all biotic enemies (and she has squad warp ammo).  I prefer to bring Samara and Grunt when I fight husks.... because husks equal scions... and scions equal dead squishy people.  Jack is fun... but she isn't the only character I use... it depends on the situation.  As long as there is an ammo power that hurts armor and health then I'm good.

One thing I'd like to bring up about "Jack vs. whomever", and this follows - I think - the point Pacifien's been trying to make - and it's all about experience.

Jack is powerful, no doubt, purported to be the most powerful human biotic in the galaxy.  All well and good, let us concede this as fact.

Another simple fact is that, as good as Jack undoubtedly is - crashing stations and wiping out pirates and cults,  and all that - her experience in combat is nowhere nearly as extensive as a great many biotics she might run up against: take Wrex, as an example.  We're talking, what - 1200 years of heinie-whupp`n?  Wrex wins. Period.

Jack would have to kill him in her initial opening shot, or Wrex is going to use his superior knowledge and take that girl apart.

It's as telling as the difference between you and your heavy-duty punch, and me and my ability to take out both your eyes from across the room.

Your Hulk-like punch means precisely squat if it never lands.  Your shockwave means dick if you can`t see to aim it, and I`m not dumb enough to just stand there and let you launch it in random directions.

Samara wins.  Kaiden wins.  Shepard wins.  Jack lacks training, focus and discipline.  Those matter.  She has power, sure, but take that power away, and she's screwed.  De-powered, Wrex, Samara and Kaiden still win, because it`s far more about ability and less about strength.

Give Jack Shepard`s training, or even Kaiden`s - calm her down and help her discipline her mind and body and focus?  No one could touch her, and Wrex would be sweating bullets at the idea of trying.

Until then though...  as much as I love her, she`s the strongest, but she`s not the best - not yet.

Biotic crush? Where Jack sorta does an impression of Wall-E and compacts 3 YMIR mechs into tiny cubes and goes "ta-daa"?

I 'd also like to see her do a AOE biotic field push. Even if it screams of Star Wars Force Unleashed. If the enemies are between the field and a wall then they'll be crushed instantly, otherwise the pressure is enough to make quite a few cracks in their armor. She could also use it defensively if she's running too close to an enemy. Should come in handy softening up multiple enemies at once for the rest of the team to take them down.

The casting animation needs to be Jack holding up her index finger and thumb close to her eye, and then using the perspective to pretend to crush the person.

Sorta.  Picture her using a modified version of `Slam` where she hoists some Blue Suns idiot in the air, and just crunches him like you`d smush a beer can.

So... kinda like she shoves a biotic wall ahead of her?  (I haven`t played a Star Wars games since the old arcade wireframe one where you had to shoot down TIES and then blow up the Death Star.  Yes, I am very old.)

Well, there's always those who believe a character will win no matter what situation they happen to be in at the time, but I disagree.

Personally, I haven't taken polls on these threads seriously since Tali came in second behind Jack for "character with the most expressive face in ME2".  No Tali-bashing intended.

Well the helmet does force you to look at her eyes but it's really all in the body language. Jack doesn't get very emotive unless you run the romance, then she wins, Miranda has no emotions to emote... oh except for cold. She's good at cold.

Collider wrote...

Do you think that Jack is as powerful or
more powerful than Samara?

No. Samara is suppose to be crazy powerful even for an Asari. I think Samara would make a good mentor for Jack, actually. That's if they could find a way around her code basically requiring her to kill Jack. really focus her need to kill. Just think, Jack the first human Justicar.
