Oh, dear Lord how I agree with you.  Never even read any of it myself.  From all the horror stories I've heard about fanfiction in general, they're usually poorly worded tripe that devolve into meaningless sex.  No point in it, really.  Acting out goofy juvenile fantasies on the internet while whirlingly in love with the sound of their fingers hitting the keyboard.

But then again... It is something I haven't tried before.  And one should always try new things...  So yeah, Ilzairspar, you want something done, say the word.

Oh god please, no fanfics in this thread. We have gone so far without any fanfics. That pic of Jack and the N7 tattoo is really pushing it. I find it extremely creepy and weird. Fanfics are always creepy and childish. Fantasies are meant to stay in your head. One thing I'm proud of about this thread is that there are no fanfics and a ton of weird and creepy pictures. Let's keep it that way.

There is one on Tuchanka in the camp where she talks about there being 13 gaurds protecting the camp. The one in Omega about illegal ****. And theres one on Illium about getting lots of money from easy victims.

My favorite Jack line was when you bring her along when Wrex meets grunt and she Says "Wait, Grunts going through Puberty?" and seeing her scratch her head while saying it made it even better.

The bathroom in the citidel, just as you exit the tunnel in Tuchanka on your left, on illium next to the first two kiosks on your left but those are the only one I know.

While I admit I would hate this to turn into another Tali thread with tons of hearts and wedding dresses but I  say let the fans do what they want. I wonder how a pic of the Jack and the tattoo is pushing it?

No idea on future figures but the first four are Grunt, male Shepard,Thane and Tali

I've got a bad feeling that Jack is going to be a low priority as far as figures go, which is a shame. If they ever did, she'd have a proud place next to Agent 47 and John Locke in a speciality "Bald Badasses" section.

There is nothing wrong with certain fan art. Like this is fine. 

But the one where she's got an N7 tattoo is very creepy. It's just some fantasy the creator had, just like a fan fiction. Her nipples are freaking poking through her shirt for the love of god. It looks like a screenshot from some animated japanese porno.

Sorry, I have a Krogan fetish... just can't take them seriously. I mean, all that might and combat-readiness in a package that you just want to cuddle. You'd see 'em charging and you'd just want to take them home instead of pulling the trigger. It's those little squishy faces. My first pet was a snake, so I think it warped my concept of 'cute'.

I just found an extremely interesting video. It's an interview with Casey Hudson. He says how looking at the exterior of a character you will fit them in this archetype and figure that's all there is too them. But if you talk to them and get to know them, you will see that there is far more too them. And he uses Jack as the main example of this, saying that she has a lot of depth that is not initially apparent. Plus he says that she was the most interesting character to develope .

I'm trying to remember it now, but back on the old boards, when the reveal video for Jack first came out, it was mentioned that she was one of the dev's favorite characters. I can't remember if it was Casey or who it was, but it's another one of the reasons I'm hopeful she'll be back for 3.

EDIT: Got bored, went back to that thread and went through dev posts, and couldn't find it.  Beginning to wonder if I have false memories going on here.  Gave me a chance to get nostalgic of all the devs on the board trying to throw off correct guesses about squadmates and Chris Priestly's "LOCKDOWN!"  Ah, the good old days.

After watching the video I feel much more comfortable that we'll see not only Jack return in ME3, but every squadmate. I don't know if Casey mentions this in that same video, there are 4 total, but he says how Ashley, Kaiden, and Liara play a very important role in the story across the whole trilogy. And that they intentionally made them not recruitable in ME2 for story reasons in ME3. That really sparked my interest and makes me very anxious to see what they do with them in ME3.

He also seemed to take the whole LI thing pretty seriously. Like it's a very significant part of the experience. So I don't think BioWare will take away anyones LI.

If you go to the video section of the ME2 website and check out Part 1 of the "Art of the Game" series with Matt Rhodes (the Lead Concept Artist), about 3.5 minutes in he talks about Jack being one of his proudest creations. And, if you watch carefully, there's a place at about 3:52 into it where you can actually see him add what I believe to be his interpretation of her scarring, specifically on her back and arms. It's pretty cool.

My apologies, Jackal, for laboring on this point, but I'm curious.   Are you saying that tastefully painting a picture about your favorite character in a video game is acceptable but tastefully setting finger to keyboard isn't?  It's just that I can't draw, but I can write.  I apologize if I gave the impression that I was gonna write something pervy and smear it all over the forum, when in truth I was going to write something tasteful and sexless and just email it to Ilzairspar, as said forumite expressed a wish for something along the lines of which my talents lie, and I aim to please.

It would be kind of nice if Bioware actually created a new area to the forums specifically for fan art and fan fiction. That way you could go check it out or contribute if you wanted to, or you could just come to a thread like this and share your opinion on a character.

Haha well thanks. I didn't think that you specifically would write some perverted fanfic. It's just that fanfics don't have a very good track record. I am proud that this thread has been able to grow without the need of twitter-like posts and people spewing their fantasies about Jack in the form of childish fanfics. I haven't read a lot of fanfics, but everyone that I have read has been about these strange fantasies that the creator has, and I feel like a creep just by reading it.

While I'm sure there are good fanfics out there, I have yet to see one. But like I said I have not read many. But I trust you now that you will in fact write something tasteful. My only remaining concern is that it will open the floodgates to other fanfics that are not tasteful. But maybe people will see your work, which I'm assuming will in fact be tasteful, and learn from it. Hopefully people will see that fanfics don't have to be about sex and creepy fantasies.

Edit: This --> social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/128/index/1580533   is the kind of creepy fantasy **** I'm talking about. They're pictures, not fanfics, but they're just as disturbing.

Well, I was just picking up Samara with Isaac Shepard, but we just had a powercut in my neck of the woods so it looks like I'll be doing it again, and after earlier, when someone mentioned Jack's comments on the whole Niftu Cal - Biotic God sequence, well, I took Jack along and let him charge. Laughed my ass off! I usually spare the poor fool, but I play Isaac like a 70's exploitation movie hero (think the original Shaft with Richard Roundtree) so he can be a lot more Renegade without being a total douche, because it's what John Shaft would do!

I'm just hoping playing it so far down the middle won't screw my chances of solving various conflicts...

Found some interesting concept art pictures of Jack from a video on the official Mass Effect 2 website called Art of the Game part 1. The video is an interview with the lead concept artist, and he says that the character that he is most proud of is Jack because her body tells a complicated and brutal story about her history through tattoos, "medical" tattoos, and "medical" scars.
