wow, nice pictures. I knew she had scars but didn't realize just how many.

They do look surgical in nature, so I'm guessing these were before she broke out.

Edit: Wait medical tattoos?  A few of them do look sort of like they could have been mapping future surgeries?

Ya that's what I'm thinking. The tattoos on her right arm look especially like some type of mapping for implants.

Dear God... the one that trails completely down her spine makes me cringe.

Actually, they all make me cringe. Jack needs a hug.

I vaguely remember seing some documentary or something about plastic surgery (don't ask me why, it was forever and a day and I was probably bored) that had doctors using marker to put where they would be cutting/working on the body.  To tattoo someone seems a bit much.  Then again, did those asses working there really care about that part of the prodject.

Edit: BTW I found a picture that looks like it came from that video as well (still downloading it) it's of jack from the front with all her tattoos.  If you look closely you can see the scars on her front as well.  Looks like one goes right around one breast towards the center of her torso.

Here be the link since I dont' know how to do the picutre thing...I'm forum inept.

Im guessing those scars were a result of Neural implants to help bolster Jacks biotics. I wonder how deep they went maybe to the bone, Yikes.

Well my theory is that they tattood this "map" on her arm to know where each of the implants are all the time.

Ya I remember seeing that scar down her back in game, but I wasn't sure if it was a scar or not. They must have done some serious **** to her at Pragia. So I'm assuming she has some kind of implant all along her spine. That's pretty messed up; getting serious spinal surgery as a kid.

I myself am a fan of the neutral options when romancing Jack. Just the caliber of the dialogue is astounding, almost at the level of old school, Ben Hecht, Howard Hawks give-and-take. The breakdown seems more organic that way instead of hammering away with a nice guy routine until she buckles. Up until that point it's been a verbal chess match against a worthy opponent, and the Murtock confession is her way of attempting to maneuver you into check-mate.

Well, since Isaac is being soooo superfly (he's currently flirting to the hilt with everyone - Jack, Tali, Samara, Miranda, Kelly... give him a minute and he'll be charming EDI out of her interface leads) I just took a neutral stance during the above conversation... I play nice too much I guess, so it was all new...

Jack: "I'll... I'll just **** you up."

Shep: "Here's hoping..."

Absolutely wonderful. Dead on, comrade, dead on. Sometimes the writing is a little flacid, a bit sloppy, but in some places it really does shine. This is what video games have to be about now, just the way that comics are no longer about holier-than-thou ****s that wear costumes that wouldn't make the grade at Coney Island and make us think that the bad guys are never the people we give money to every day or even the people we see in the mirror. Video games need to get some Alan Moore in their blood. Or some Warren Ellis. Or some Grant Morrison. Or all of those magnificent bastards. We've been given some of that with the girl in the basement.

To steal your toast to the bods at Bioware, Uncle Royce: thank you.

It's like The Exorcist... I watch that movie and laugh at how comedic and frankly purile most of it is (the only way that movie can wig you out is if you go in with religious baggage, plain and simple), but the scene where they give Regan the spinal tap... that little girl in pain is worse than any supernatural claptrap I can have thrown at me.

I'm surprised Jack's as sane as she is... poor kid.

You know, I was looking at those texture rips I did a while back, and noticed how some of her tattoos followed her scars, and thought that was her way of accentuating them.  But now that I hear "medical tattoos" and see that picture that makes it look like ALL her scars are from the facility... man, the more I learn about Jack's past, the worse it gets.

Wow, i didn't realize that all of those were scars. The one on the spine made me cringe; spines should not be messed with..

And the "Jack: "I'll... I'll just **** you up." Shep: "Here's hoping..."" line is one of the points where i really like the paragon response. The emotion on Jack's face when she says, "and...and, that sucks!" was quite well done. She might say that with the other options though, i haven't tried them yet at that point in the romance.

Someone back in the old forums mentioned from where she was cut she might've been vivisected. I wouldn't be surprised if it was true.

In her reveal trailer - and in the texture rip - she has a three part scar from her neckline and left shoulder that spreads out as it reaches towards her abdomen as well one along her right side of oblique muscles.

Oh hey, I see a bullet mark on her abs too. That's really got to hurt.

The one that really chills me is the scar on her head. That one's actually different enough that it might have been post-facility, but still... I still get queasy when I think about the ending of "Point Lookout" from Fallout 3, and I'd hate to think they did the same thing to Jack.

Looking at the skins she has a scar that is similar to the Y incision seen in autopsies. It's more of a T incision with a reverse Y...but my God what did they do to her...I can understand why she thought she lived because she was stronger than anyone. If this is what they were doing to the one that wasn't expendable just think about what they were doing to the other kids.

You know i wish the tattoos in game looked as good as they did in that video. It seems they made all of the faces high res. but the armor and clothing low res with the pixels really standing out.

I've never seen that scar pic before.  They are quite horrific.

Considering most of them didn't survive that long from the experiments, I don't want to know.

I think she's already made them pay. She did kinda kill her way out of Teltin. If I had to make a prediction, she's gonna be doing the Robin Hood thing come ME3. And they say you can't channel violent outbursts into something constructive.

But those scars. I'm guessing muscle augmentation. Look at the ones on the right. They run diagonal to the bones in the ribcage, so with the exception of the one on the abdomen and the one on the spine, these don't look too invasive.

The surgical tattoos on the knuckles squick me out, personally. I may be wrong, but with the exception of the eyelids, I think that's where the skin is thinnest on the human body. What the hell were they doing with her hands? If the neural degradation doesn't get her, the eventual crippling arthritis will.

While we're all still banging on about invasive surgery, something to bear in mind is that scars have a little shift-and-settle over the years, particularly ones performed pre-puberty growth, and growing can make them stretch, so some may have moved a little from where the original surgery took place or changed shape a little. A lot of them do look old and faded, which does make them blend in to some of the tattooing.

The ones on the upper arms that extend downwards, the way they begin at a ring that travels around the whole limb suggests some kind of gloving procedure, to peel everything back to get at muscle or bone, but bearing in mind the circular terminations at the knuckles and how the same details exist in some of the medical tattoos, it might be that the EZo deposits in her nerves that gave her her basic biotic powers weren't enough, so they went in and augmented them; literally laying in 'circuits' to boost and channel energy. Or even actually constructed EZo bundles and grafted them to nerve endings... ick. An X-ray of Jack would be interesting. She probably looks like a Christmas tree in there.

The inverted Y on the lower torso... that might have been for run-of-the-mill surgery... she has an entry-wound scar in her abdomen, so someone could have had her opened up to perform repairs on damaged internal organs. Or, if you like the sinister end of the street, it could be from surgical sterilization. If the prisons of the future are co-ed, it might well be the best option to sterilize the population (and you couldn't have 100% certainty from any other kind of contraceptive measures... and it's doubtlessly be cheaper in the long run). Or it could have been done when she was first brought into Telton... break out the scalpels, welcome to life as a lab rat.

Aren't we the lucky ones? Talimancers get to talk about her face, Miridians get... whatever they get, we get to ponder how much horrible **** a human can go through. We've at least got a definate road map to follow; you just have to look at Jack...

Is there any place to find theories about Jack's parents? That is something I just really want to know. Someone gave their child to Cerberus so they could realize her full biotic potential and the Illusive Man wanted lots of progress updates on her. It makes me think her parents or father at least is someone high ranking in Cerberus or a substantial benefactor. The lengths the facility went to to experiment on her were behind the Illusive Man's back so obviously he wouldn't have approved. She was supposed to be kept "safe". I saw a lot of theories about Illusive Man being Miranda's father or Jack and Miranda being sisters but nothing about what powerful figure might be Jack's father....did I miss it or am I the only one who wonders about it?

If (as some are theorizing currently) there is an upcoming DLC involving Thane, we might get something similar for all the love interests. This is one of the questions about Jack I really want to see answered... though if she wasn't kidnapped, bought or sold as a slave, or the product of another oh-so-loving Glassmother, and she was willingly surrendered to the project... jeez, I really do not want to see that touching scene of a family reunited... unpack the crime scene tape and try and paint over the bloodspatters across the ceiling afterwards...

I'll also say here that if they pull some kind of magic-bullet-dodge over Keprel's Syndrome, and if Jack's 'neural degeneration' raises it's final, ugly and terminal head, I take all my thanks back, Bioware, and you'll officially suck in perpetuity... just sayin'...

That's what happens when you wear tatoos instead of armour. ;)

Perhaps we can persuade Jack to let doctor Chakwas work her scar removal magic?

Yeah, I started a thread a couple of weeks ago (that died ignominiously) that stated that I thought Jack and Miranda were sisters.  Miranda says a bunch of stuff during her loyalty mission that sounds like foreshadowing, but... For what?  TIM can't be her father, because Miranda and TIM have been in the same room without fired shots.  And that line "I'm just the first one he kept" keeps ringing in my ears.  But we could easily confirm or deny this if they gave us Jack's age or told us when she escaped.  We know neither.  There are so many unknowns circling the two of them that some of them are going to overlap.

Oh, and the fact that Oriana looks like one of those Conan O'Brien "If They Mated" pictures of Jack and Miranda?  That's a factor behind my reasoning, too.

The only tattoos that follow her scars are the ones on her arms. Which is why I think those tattoos were maps for implants in her arms. And if you notice, her left arm has a bunch of tattoos that seem to go over tattoos that are similar to the one on her right arm.

She only says that with the paragon option. But the way she says that... man. Courtney Taylor did an absolutely amazing job.
