ZOMG love that screenie! :o

How can anyone dislike a gal whose face can scream "Hug me" like that?

Your flattery and talk of hugging Jack is making her visibly nervous :lol:

Most would say everything about her appearance screams "Do not hug" but I just gotta! Even if it means a biotic paunch to the chest.

They sure did a fantastic job with her lips, didn't they? :)

@York
Agreed. They did ok on a lot of the LIs facial expressions (except Tali naturally), but Jack is so well done. Kelly's faces are also my favorite but mostly in a lol kinda way :P

Come on, we say it all the time, but it needs to be said: Jack has the most naturalistic, expressive face of any character in the damn game. Some of the other characters have their moments (the way a face as strange as Garrus's communicates amusement when he laughs, or the way Grunt's smiles and grimaces don't come off as the same expression, or Samara's look of complete heartbreak when you press her for a romance), but Jack's entire screentime is a moment. Sh*t, you catch her in awkward between-words screengrabs, and she still works...

I noticed a significant contrast between Jack and Miranda in terms of facial expressions. Miranda is much less. She sort of has a moderate or neutral expression on virtually all of the time. I've heard people (well, a person) describe Miranda as a sort of "robot," so I can understand the emotional detachment. Miranda & Jack are basically character foils of one another.

Odd, cuz Jack isn't modeled after anybody, right? Maybe modeling after Yvonne's face was like plastic surgery, and like botox it makes you not as expressive lol

I guess I'll go with the notion that she's the ice queen so she'd have subtler expressions, like when she and Jacob are talking after Jacob's mission (I think), but then Jacob was significantly more expressive for good reason.

Agreed. Jack's is pretty impression. They hired, I heard, a team specifically for the facial expression animations. Seems to have paid off, considering the predecessor. ME1 conversations tended to lack much facial expressions. I like that ME2 beefed up the cinematic feel of the conversations in general.

anyways, I'm not sure if she's modeled after anybody or not. If she wasn't, they did a damn good job without having a direct reference.

In a way too, Jacob and Miranda were kind of character foils in the beginning of the game. Jacob was fine with talking and telling you what's going on, Miranda did not want to talk at all (besides the interrogation).

On the Normandy though, they have some weird soul transfer, and Jacob becomes the guy who is sometimes iffy about talking and Miranda is suddenly enthusiastic about telling you about herself. Got a "wtf" from me.

I am absolutely in love with Jack's face and wish the other human characters had one as expressive as hers. But I do think Kasumi comes close (when you can see it anyway)

Great shot! That's a nasty cut on her neck, how did I do 4 PTs thinking "this chick's skin is too clean".

And I agree, what they did to make Garrus more expressive is astounding, even when he's not smiling or anything, when you reject him in the love scene you can see the pain.

but Jack's entire screentime is a moment. Sh*t, you catch her in awkward between-words screengrabs, and she still works...

Truth. And from all angles, too.

@Collider
Wow, didn't even notice the soul-swapping. You know, they somewhat modeled Jack after that character in Pitch Black, right? She had a shaved head, but other than that concept, her actual design is original.

@Mondo
"Yeah I did" screenshot is my new fav. Thanks!

And wth, here's Kelly when talking about Zaeed

You didn't? For me, it was particularly jarring. Miranda pretty much tells you to GTFO on Lazarus Station if you try to talk to her. She's cold and unfriendly. "We can talk about the mission or we can [b]do[/i] it."

Then on the Normandy, for apparently NO reason at all, she's friendly, warm, and doesn't mind talking to you at all. wtf

Granted, she's still the Cerberus sympathizer and all that. But there was an inexplicable and unexplained change in personality.

Wow....just wow. These are truly DEM EYES. Rune will kill me for saying it, but I'm sorry man, tis the truth.

@Collider
I subconsciously noticed the change in Jacob, but I figured Miranda was extremely worried about the project screwing up, and instead of acting hastey, she just said "you can stay here and blow up with the ship". Once you're on that platform where you first meet TIM, she's still cold, but that's probably cuz she thinks there's no way Shepard's gunna go through with this. I'll pay attention to anything that's said that would indicate that Shepard is working with them before she opens up.

True, Blur did do a good job with Jack, especially in comparison to the other characters. Because of that diffuse toned light they used and they gave some of the models way too much detail insofar as visible pores, it made them look very artificial; like overdetailed SFX appliances that have been dusted too heavily. Jack worked very well, but Shepard and Mordin looked terrible texture-wise. Glorious animation, but look like early model Terminators... rubber skin, we spotted them real easy.

As many expressions as she has in that video, I require more screencaps than the 2 I currently own. For instance, your avatar. And the faces during "So do I" and "I'm not here for humans" the list goes on.

Yeah but even when she's not technically "making a face" she delivers somehow;

Miri, Jack and Liara have the most expresive faces in the game series, what ever the order is, is personal prefence.

I do have one moment in particular where I was impressed with Liara... there were a few seconds in there where I'm convinced she was channeling Rachel Weisz ^_^

Kept expecting her to say "I am... a Librarian!"

Say that in the Liara thread :P you will be bombared with alot of expresion pics of her face, same as the miri thread, same in the Jack board. If someone said does Jack have a expresive face, they would be bombarded with pics.
