the rampant male adoration for Tali is about the only thing I had predicted that the poll thus far has confirmed.

Basically. Young, shy and virginal alien nerd with a "secret crush" throwing itself at Shepard. Who else would find this strongly appealing? Young, virginal human nerds. The majority of which are male, of course.

Harsh, Adriano, but funny all the same :D

This makes the inclusion of her romance in ME2 sound like it had been planned since ME1.

The belief that Garrus and Tali were shoe horned into becoming LI's in ME2 because of fan threads, seems to be accepted as a matter of fact by a lot of members here on the forum.  Is there any evidence that exists to prove this, beyond hearsay, speculation, and/or rumor?  If so, I haven't seen it.

From what I understand, there was discussion going on about this on the old forum, that included a developer(s), that would indicate that the developer(s) were perhaps influenced by the fan threads.

This however does not mean that Tali & Garrus were not ever intended to be LI's in ME2 by Bioware, but later added in as LI's for the exclusive reason of fan threads though.

Yes, but I wasn't being serious, though.   At face-value, adriano's appraisal of Tali's character, and her romance, just seem a little too applicable.

Let's bring Jack into the equation.

Apparently, a lot of the Tali fans really like the Jack character also.  Not in just a platonic sense either.

How does that break down?

I don't see Shepard's relationship with Jack
in that way.  Besides, it plays in to the hands of Jack's critics who
claim that men who like her are all submissive betas/omegas.  Not that I
care what they think, either way ../../../images/forum/emoticons/wink.png

I don't necessarily see her that way either.  I can see how one would have this impression of her personality though.  You get mixed signals from her.  In the thrust scene she is real dominant, but in the romance scene she appears to be the opposite.

@JD

a volte.

It breaks down, that they are similar flavors.  Though, where Tali has apparently been watching Shepard all of this time, but never said anything about her feelings, because she doubted herself, and didn't think the Commander would have any interest.  There's no evidence of that with Jack.  Jack apparently didn't cultivate any interest in Shepard, though she definitely starts to doubt herself if Shepard pursues her.  Tali's interest is a little bit like a highschool crush.  Jack's interest is a little tsundere.

I think the gender ratios are interesting.

Ashley, 16 males, 3 females

Liara, 32 males, 13 females

Jack, 23 males, 13 females

Miranda, 13 males, 5 females

Tali, 48 males, 3 females

Indeedy - Jack is closest to an even split(ish), more or less confirming that she has solid cross-gender appeal. Miranda has shockingly under-performed thus far, but the rampant male adoration for Tali is about the only thing I had predicted that the poll thus far has confirmed. Everything else has been an interesting surprise.

I would suggest reposting your poll in the evening... there is likely more "over 25" individuals who would vote then but are at work right now.

I was talking about the appraisal of the "Tali fan", and how that breaks down with Jack in the equation.  I imagine that you avoided that intentionally however, which is fine.

No, I don't understand what it is that you're asking.

As stated by several members, quite a lot of the Tali fans find the Jack character very appealing, and she would be their preferred LI, if indeed Tali was not a LI in the game.

If the appraisal of the Tali fans is that Tali is a "virginal alien nerd", and therefore the fans that find her appealing are "young virginal human nerds", how does this explain that a lot of those Tali fans find Jack appealing also?

The presumption is that she has a crush on Shepard, and is an innocent virgin throwing herself at Shepard, and that virgin nerds find this appealing.

Jack is just the opposite, yet they find her quite appealing as well.  The appraisal seems to be contradictory, or this at least takes credence from it.

They find her appealing knowing Tali is there first. Had Tali not been in the game, impressions would be different. And we will never know what those impressions might have been.

Judging from everything I've read...

I don't even know how to try to clear that up. About the Tali fans liking Jack, too.

Best way I can even attempt to answer that is...

I dunno; they both like shotguns? Or they both nee..Actually, scratch that -- they ALL needed help, that's why the loyalty missions exist.

I could try and guess that the 'young human virginian nerds' like Jack because they might see her as a damsel in distress -- weird, it may be -- and that, and I'm simply guessing, here, fits well into what they'd like, because.....

>.>

....Yeah, I have nothing to go on, with that.

Eh, I don't really know. You'd have to hear it from the culprits, themselves.

Wow. I think I just saw the abyss. And not the movie, either.

I like the writing, Jake. Have to explore even the dark side, right?

Yup.  Angsty sh!t powers all the pop'lar lit'rchur.  Thanks for reading, Goat.  Appreciate you taking the time.

Oh man...I cried manly tears. That was...inspiring, Mr. Jake.

Thank you.  I've rewritten it, and changed the tone somewhat, fleshed out a thing or two.  Have a look, if you like.  I'd appreciate any feedback.

Part Two is currently undergoing similar treatment, and should be up sometime soonish, just because I like it, even if no one else ever reads it.  ;)

Too much time on my hands.

I like all the characters to varying degrees. Except Thane. I hate that guy.

-edit. Oh, and Morinth is extremely underrated! The team needs that touch of "evil."

Freudian analysis:

(in a german accent)

Your love for the Samara, Morinth, and Jack characters, is itself reminiscent of your own desires to masturbate incessantly, until you are shooting blanks.  Couple this with your intense hostility towards the Tali character, and it reveals that you're indeed a psychopath, with a schizoid personality.

:D
