The belief that Garrus and Tali were shoe horned into becoming LI's in ME2 because of fan threads, seems to be accepted as a matter of fact by a lot of members here on the forum. From what I understand, there was discussion going on about this on the old forum, that included a developer(s), that would indicate that the developer(s) were perhaps influenced by the fan threads.
This however does not mean that Tali & Garrus were not ever intended to be LI's in ME2 by Bioware, but later added in as LI's for the exclusive reason of fan threads though.

Indeedy - Jack is closest to an even split(ish), more or less confirming that she has solid cross-gender appeal. Miranda has shockingly under-performed thus far, but the rampant male adoration for Tali is about the only thing I had predicted that the poll thus far has confirmed. Everything else has been an interesting surprise.

It breaks down, that they are similar flavors. Though, where Tali has apparently been watching Shepard all of this time, but never said anything about her feelings, because she doubted herself, and didn't think the Commander would have any interest. There's no evidence of that with Jack. Jack apparently didn't cultivate any interest in Shepard, though she definitely starts to doubt herself if Shepard pursues her. Tali's interest is a little bit like a highschool crush. Jack's interest is a little tsundere.
