Either way, I think these are easily the most interesting polls focusing on LI's I've seen so far.
And the most comprehensive.

My favorite is the Harbinger vs. Jacob one
Also... I do like Jacob as long as I'm not playing femshep. She just sounds like a cougar out on the hunt every time she speaks to him. Also... Jacob is the best player to bring on Mordin's recruitment mission if you are playing a NG+ game and don't have incendiar, warp or AP ammo on your Shepard.

You're right though - Jacob's downfall I think with the female audience is his sheer lack of wooing skills. Compare him to Kaidan. Kaidan seems to win over the female audience because he's sensitive, he's respectful towards women, in touch with his feelings, and his implant issues give him a slightly vulnerable quality. He's a perfect son; polite, caring, and that makes him more attractive than a guy that only seems to have a line in cornball chatup material. Jacob is like a wheel of Swiss he's so cheesy, but, you persevere with Hale's dialogue being stuck in Cougartown and his lousy patter, he does have genuine feelings - you pressure him to open up about his father, he gets upset, he's also the only person to ask how Shepard is coping with the after-effects of her resurrection. He's a nice guy, just no good at expressing himself or letting his feelings come to the surface, so he comes off as some horndog jock that just wants to get in Shep's drawers.
I really think that next time, BioWare should get a lot more input from female writers on male characters. Gals know what they like and what they don't like, and if they want to build these characters up and make us care if they get blown away in the big finish, they need to speak to us on a much wider level. Wouldn't take a lot of work, either... a little focus-testing, as Jacob would say

Now look at Jack - badass beeyatch biker chick, all ink and ****kickery. She don't need you, she don't need nobodah, muthafukka, so you best back off. When you ain't look'n, she rescues that kitty and feeds the orphans anonymously.
Just play the fooking game!
But we don't visit the forums to play the game, that's when all the fan-made universes come in. There's a lot of truth to your post, one is the predisposition to the characters before you experience them yourself such as The Priize and the awkwardness of Garrus' romance. They are always exaggerated, but they do start from some truth, it's up to us to keep an open mind.

Fan-made Jack wallpaper here. I'm always skeptical towards the use of 3d models taken from the game (can you
still call it art?), but someone might like it.
BTW look at the artist's nickname: "Squint911" ;-)

When it comes to Jack's... boobs, well, I'm just happy she's smaller than everyone else. It'd be far too easy to
make a couple of female models and just skin them up, but thankfully our digital ladies all have their own bodyshapes and builds (albeit everyone seems to be the same height).
This is true, but I was going to point out there's a reason they call it Ass Effect, and Jack is the ONLY female who does not have one of these recurring characteristics: Huge ass, wide hips, big ******. She doesn't strike me as "scrawny" either, but seems that way cuz she's tall and half-naked. I think a roundhouse kick would lay Shepard out, boots or no

Anyway, part of Jacob that I read turns a lot of female gamers off is simply "the priiize". Objectifying Femshep as something you sneak into the captain's quarters at night for as a heavy risk..but the priizze. Idk, there's a ton of dialogue leading up to this scene so I won't pretend I know, but it's something I read from some females.

That one really puzzles me - I've heard a damn sight worse in the real world, so why all the sensitivity? Oh noes - he's objectifying Shep! Seriously, if you go out to clubs and guys hit on you, you can hear lines that make that sound like f*cking Shakespeare. I've heard sh*t that made me want to go and shower in bleach in comparison to being thought of as "the priiize." Are we really that bloody sensitive that a throwaway (but admittedly crap) chatup line puts us off a fictional character so deeply we just can't find anything esle good to say about him?

Oh there's plenty of raging going on. Anyone recall the feminist who interviewed Casey about Miranda's ass in that conversation? Poor Casey has a rough job in the PR business.

Part of the reason I have a love-hate relationship with the community here. In one post, there's great insight and speculation on the game and personalities of the characters, and in another, someone is spinning words the character's said to prove their argument as it suits them, for no better reason than to argue or win points for their favorite. My first playthrough of ME1 I had a great bond with Kaiden, and then come onto the forums and it's like "Kaiden's gay".."Can't talk to him". Christ man, at least let people know it's your opinion.
I realize Ashley and Kaiden were intended to be S/S available, but perspective is a hell of a thing. As Samara said, if you put three humans in a room there will be six opinions. Those easily influenced are at their mercy.
It's also been argued that Thane and Garrus are meant for male gamers who play Femshep lol Bioware has very concerned fans.

You can't let the forum influence you. I know it's hard not to let it influence you, but you gotta go with your own instincts. This forum has more than its fair share of sheep.Goat_Shepard wrote...
