Ok... I'm awake now. So out of curiosity... how many of you use Jack when you play hardcore or insanity?

I've taken her with me every time out on my current hardcore playthrough. Haven't tried insanity yet, and might not for a while. I just picked up ME1 and am planning on playing through that once so I can actually see the whole story, finally.

You've been playing default, not-your-Shepard Shepard this whole time?

I must add my incredulity to york's.  The default ME2 Shepard is something no one should have to suffer through at all.  I'm sending the Red Cross to your house to hand out blankets and cups of coffee.  You poor, poor soul.

Sadly, yes. Only learned of the Mass Effect franchise with the launch of ME2, which (obviously) I loved, so I've been wanting to play ME1 for a while now. Haven't had the spare time to do so, but I think I should be able to get to it soon.

Speaking of which, learning about ME2 only at launch made Jack's "THAT'S Jack?" reveal all the more awesome. When I read The Convict dossier, I was thinking it would be an angry, "tough", jerkwad prison dude. I really wasn't that excited for another Zaeed-type character, so I left Jack's recruitment until last, thinking I'd never use "him." Then, as she came out of cryo and Shepard said "That's Jack?" I was thinking the exact same thing in my head. That was the point Jack became my favorite squaddie - right away :P

I started one last night... named him JohnCANNON Shepard.... and I had to put it down after an hour.  They really make his actions that of a jerk in the first game.  I'm a pro-council paragon spectre and proud of it.

Then you're fortunate.  You were spared the godawful Subject Zero Reveal video which turned everyone against Jack from the get-go.

I have to say, I actually enjoyed that trailer. I was excited for her being in ME2. She did not come out as I expected, to say the least. Of course, some people liked that that happened.

I'll put my hand up for that... that reveal trailer made me expect something terribly stereotypical. Didn't get it, though. Got the killing machine I expected, and the best romance of the series I didn't expect. Gawd bless her ^_^

Seeing that trailer automatically made me like her. I tend to go for women like that -- the ones who can kick your ass. Even though all the females in ME could do that just as much as she can..But that's not the point.

I wanted to romance her, on my first playthrough, but I was with Ash. Ended up 'accidentally' doing it, anyway. After beating said new game in one damn day.

I hadn't seen that trailer until after the game's release. Well, it makes her seem as if she has a very colorful personality, which she does. Apart from maybe the Krogan, the other teammates are very subdued. That trailer makes her look exciting.

I found it very Batman & Robin in the way it aggrandised her ink and general attitude.
Nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but it didn't do her justice.

Uh huh. Accidentally ;)

With my Jackmancing Sheps I've "cheated" (in fact, f*ck that sh*t, I am not calling it that any longer, I'm not falling into some moralistic judgement trap - I was dead for two years, fer chrissakes) moved on to Jack from Ash three times. And one playthrough with no romance in ME1 just in case BioWare get all holier-than-thou on me.

This is a thing I agree with.  I know it's hard to belie depth in a one minute promo, and what they were left with was her 'tude.  What we were left with was something that struck me as something an obliviously out of touch Don Draper wannabe would come up with to try and pander to kids.

I'm willing to bet that if there were no reveal for her whatsoever, this thread and the fan club would be at Miranda levels.

Batman & Robin?

The non-romantic interaction between Jack and a Paragon Shepard reminds me very much of Flapjack and Captain K'nuckles from the "Misadventures of Flapjack."  Now that I think about it, it's time for a hasty hack-job of an image edit...

But will you, privately, enjoy any feuding that occurs, if feuding should occur?

Yup, I've seen 'em Paci.

Thus far, I think we can take a certain satisfaction that Jack went down better than any other female love interest with the female audience :D

And only males voted for Jacob. That's why watching his romance scene with Sheploo instead of Femshep males A LOT more sense ;-)
I wonder if Bioware is watching these polls (of course, Bioware's ALWAYS watching us, like Ceiling TIM) and how will they react.

I'll be a mite disappointed if it comes to a catfight in the middle of the Normandy yet again (there are better, more character-accurate and mature ways to handle any confrontation), but if it does... my Sheps'll be thinking "Go get her, Tiger" ;)

I just don't get near as much use out of Jack on the top two levels.

I think it would be better if the squad could cast all of their powers on the enemy regardless of the enemies shields and/or armor, and at least deal some damage to their shields and/or armor.

If you don't want to play it multiple times just for the sake of transferring more Shepards into ME2, you can always download an ME1 save, or create or download an ME2 save, and use the save editor on them to change the flags.

Shepard isn't given the choice to end the relationship with them.  I don't even think that cheating exists in the ME game.  I don't think the game works that way tbh.  It's similar in a way to the Shiala and Rana Thanoptis decisions I think.  You either kill them or let them go, you can't arrest them.  I think Bioware is giving you the option to go with another LI, and nothing more.

That's my opinion anyway.

I think Bioware would be crazy to pay any attention to the polls on this forum.

I'll be damned. The Shepard I frequent went through the exact same thing...Technically.

I believe the statement that shattered the link was..

"What do you want me to say, chief!? In a week, we'll all be DEAD. And right now, I'm just as popular as your grandfather was!"

Good ole DS9, I have the complete series on DVD. It was pretty good overall, I think.

Who in the Jack thread is the equivalent to Quark?  Any one, no one?

She's just too squishy.  Her shotgun-AI is too risky.

Does anyone actually play the game on something other than insanity (hardly insane)?

Either way, squad selection, for me, is simply based on what character I'd like to hear say a few lines.

I wonder if the % of the male gamers that play it at higher difficulties is greater than the % of the female gamers that play it at higher difficulties?  I wouldn't be surprised if it is.
