Here is my hypothisis if she and Jack have the same (glassmother) and creator (not biological father).  I would think that Mr. Lawson probably bragged a bit to TIM on how 'perfect' a leader his little girl was created to be.  Would be suprised if TIM put in a requesition a child that did not have to be perfect but to max out the genetic data needed to create the most powerful human biotic without killing her.

Ya this is exactly what I've been saying. If this whole Miranda and Jack are sisters thing were to be true, I think this would be the most logically story.

I'm of the belief that Jack was either one of the clones that was either chucked trying to get Miranda, or chucked trying to get Oriana.  If we knew Jack's age then maybe we could get some clue, but alas, it is not to be.  From what's been compiled on this thred, she's younger than Miranda, but older than Oriana.  Maybe Mr. Lawson didn't like Jack's nose, or thought her hair was weird. (Provided, of course, that this sisterhood theory is true).

But even this is yet another reason I think Jack's coming back for ME3, as if Jack's origin was truly unimportant, we'd know more of it.  It's all too shrouded in secrecy not to be at least a little vital to ME3.  And on a side note, I find it extraordinarily hard to believe that the Cerberus database on board the Normandy had information on Telitin yet, mysteriously, none on Jack.  If she were homegrown, so to speak, there'd have been info that would have been shared.

And just to add a little more fuel to the conspiracy theory fire, remember when Bobby said that while he was romancing Jack and he went to the Citadel to find that customized advertisement, only to find it said "The next time you're out on the town with ERROR: CITIZEN ID NOT FOUND?"

Well, the same thing happened to me... When I was romancing Miranda.

::Cue Twilight Zone theme::

Wow, having never romanced Miranda, I never heard that one.  While it makes sense that both of them would be "off the books," as it were, for different reasons... that is interesting.  I remember when I first heard that, I thought maybe the game was telling me that I hadn't romanced Jack far enough for me to have a "designated sweetie," so I went back again when Jack was up to "You know when you think you're alone..." and it still said the same thing.

And it's not a Cerberus thing, either, because I remember the first time I noticed that ad was when I was doing my playthrough with FemShep romancing Jacob in my epic "what the hell, he was the first guy to bring it up" romance, and the ad suddenly said, "When you're out for a night on the town with Jacob Taylor" and I did a double-take.

So, yeah, that's an interesting little tidbit.

P.S. Whoo!  Fifty pages!  Halfway to triple digits!

P.P.S. Was going to post an epic rant on this but decided against it since it was way off-topic, but... can you believe they actually stickied the Tali thread earlier today?  Because that thread is ALWAYS dropping off page 1 and really deserves its own place at the top where it almost NEVER is. <_<

Well, you really aren't missing much on the Miranda romance. She didn't really stick to one tone for long. From flirty to hyper-clingy to resigned to horny. It's less a romance and more like watching the stages of grief playing out in front of you.

But they stickied the Tali thread? But I guess it's not all bad news. For a character that everyone and their mother seems to hate, we have a hard time dropping past page 3.

Yeah, only noticed it because I saw that the thread had a "Official BioWare" post image on it, and thought maybe they were about to get shut down to move on to thread 4, but it was Priestly saying, "I don't think this needs to be stickied, but I do like your art."

So, one begrudging point awarded to Priestly. :)

Just ou of curiosity, I did some number work. Out of the 24 unique character threads, Into the Bad Girl is...

-Eighth Largest overall, among all squad members and among LIs.

-Fifth among female squadmembers and ME2 LIs.

-And, surprisingly, third among new squad members, beating out such new favorites as Mordin and Legion.

I'm not trying to turn this into a contest. I'm just saying we're doing better than we think (We could be on Conrad Verner's three page thread).

Sorry if no one cares, but I saw Nate Silver on the news recently, and DAMMIT, I WANTED TO DO SOME NUMBER CRUNCHING!

*Fixed twice for mistakes.

One to add for you: out of around 2800 Mass Effect groups, the main Jack support group is #19 most viewed.  Not too shabby.

It's been said, but I think we finish first in overall text per post.... Not that you could pay me to sift through the Tali thread.

Back to the twilight zone-ish Citadel advertisement, has anyone tried to do it while romancing Tali? I think it would be rather amusing if none of the possible female LI's had citizen records in the Citadel computer. However, if one of them is going to have one, then it'll be Tali since she's been there before.

Ah, but we will never defeat them in the all-important "pictures of your thread's subject in a wedding dress" factor.  They're just too damn far ahead for us to even try.

Indeed. She is referred to as Miss Zorah.

I wonder if it carries over an ME1 LI...

Okay, this is really weird.

So, I pulled up my old finished game with Tali to see if it did the "say your girlfriend's name" thing, and pulled up a save from after the suicide mission, and the game said, "when you're out with Citizen ID not found."

Well, that's weird, I thought.  Maybe it didn't register the Tali romance because I had finished the game and already gotten the sex scene.

So I loaded a game from before the suicide mission with the same character, and played the ad again.

"when you're out for a night on the town with Miss Lawson..."

Wait, WHAT?  Maybe I had talked to Miranda enough that the game thought I was trying to romance her, but I DEFINITELY had progressed further with Tali at that point.  Either the game is pitching fits because I have a coalesced.ini modded up the wazoo, or this ad is totally bugged.

But yes, it did say "Miss Lawson," so her citizen ID is definitely on file.

EDIT:  Yeah, I have no life.  I did the research and extracted the game's audio.  Turns out the "Citizen ID File not found" thing is unique to Jack.  And... I found something else interesting to another character's fanbase.

"...the next time you're out on the town with Ser Krios..."
"...the next time you're out on the town with CITIZEN ID FILE NOT FOUND..."
"...the next time you're out on the town with Miss Zorah..."
"...the next time you're out on the town with Officer Vakarian..."
"...the next time you're out on the town with Mister Taylor..."
"...the next time you're out on the town with Miss Lawson..."
"...the next time you're out on the town with Justicar Samara..."

Did you have Jack with you on the first occassion or Miranda on the second? I always had the impression that this ad doesn't really check for active romances, but rather just picks one of the "gender-appropriate" choices of your current squad.

You know... I think you might be on to something.  My party makeup the first time was Tali and Jack (it must have grabbed Jack instead) and the second time it was Miranda and Mordin.  That actually makes a lot more sense, and makes the ad a little less creepy as far as somehow divining who you're making moves on.

Still, I find it interesting they stuck that "Justicar Samara" in there.  Makes me wonder if they had something bigger planned for her.  But that's something for them to speculate about over on the other thread.

Actually the ad does not take romance into account. It just notes a squadmate of the opposite sex. Typically people would be parading their chosen romance. I know, I did the same experiment.Posted Image

Poor Grunt, Mordin, and Zaeed.  Why doesn't that ad assume THEY might be getting some Shepard lovin'? :)

If you don't pursue any romance Mordin gives you the same pep talk about sex. Except that he's coming on to you.

I did find it odd that the ad wouldn't notice.

Maybe the ad takes age difference into account. Zaeed and Mordin could be viewed as too old and Grunt would just be way too young.

Interesting about the advertisement. It used Miranda's name when I listened to it, and I guessed at the time that it was because she was a woman, and in my group. I had barely had a chance to speak with her at that point, much less engage in any sort of romance specific dialogue. And I never even thought to go back and check out the ad again with other squadmates.

As for the ad potentially naming Samara... I tend to think of her as a quasi-romantic interest, even if it doesn't really lead anywhere (at least not to the extent of the other, proper love interests). At the very least, she has interactions with Shepard which hint at romance. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if things could progress further with her in ME3... but then, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't, either.

Do we know how does ads recognize people? I remember that in the movie "Minority Report" they used eye scans and
Spoiler
.

Assuming that ads do use some kind of scanning technology, and given that Jack is a dangerous criminal, maybe she used a trick so that scanners would not recognize her so she could go around undisturbed (removing implant, replacing eyes...).

Opinions?

Probably yeah, some sort of eye scan.  More than likely, though, Jack was just never on Alliance record books.  Was probably abducted or sold by somebody in the Terminus systems at a young age, and never "officially" became a person.

Yeah, but think about it... they've probably been screaming in droves for how many iterations of that thread for a sticky? Trust me, your kids bang on long enough, you eventually give in ;)

I found a wedding dress she'd look good in! I'd post it here, but it's made of rubber, has a lot of straps, is black and red and has a very... erm... let's just say nightmare-fetish/you-know-the-bad-guys-in-WW2 vibe to it (it has a peaked-cap with a black lace veil and a collar, damnit, and the shoulders have epaulettes)... and the vent in the front runs up to the model's waist... not exactly modest. Oh, and the top is cupless.

Oh dear. I think I need to stay away from other threads... ;)

I think it probably works off the same circuit C-Sec's security scanners runs off. Bailey says it can identify you from skin flakes if need be, though I guess it would only count if you've ever been to the Citadel before, or it has to cross-reference you with the local employment, tourism and residency database... I think if it dipped into the criminal database it'd probably light up like a Christmas tree for Jack...

Missed opportunity there, Bioware... having C-Sec pull Jack's file after initial ID difficulties and then have them try to book her as she goes through ward entry. Talk your way around that one, Shepard...

Jack: I'm just sayin'... he lays a hand on me he's gonna lose the whole arm.

Shep: Everyone relax, I'm Commander Shepard. I'm a Spectre, remember? She's with me. We're on a secret mis-

Officer Lang: With respect, Sir, she's killed more people than I've eaten Twinkies...

Well I think it's safe to say Jack was not a failed attempt at making Miranda since Miranda is at least 10 years older than Jack. And if Mr. Lawson had already successfully created Miranda, I don't think he would have a problem replicating her again.

If she were homegrown, so to speak, there'd have been info that would have been shared

Maybe she hasn't found it yet, or maybe Cerberus just never kept information about her existence before the Teltin facility. Where she's from isn't really important to Cerberus, they only care about her biotics. Or maybe they don't want anyone to find out where she is from, so they left that info out of the databases.

Nice work. Those are some interesting facts. I'm glad to see that Jack has the third highest fan thread out of all the new squad members. That's not bad at all. I think we get bonus points for our posts actually being on topic most of the time, which I cant say for any other fan thread bigger than ours. Except maybe the Liara thread, I've never checked that thread out.

I just checked out the Tali thread, and one thing that really annoys me, is that when it gets slow over there someone will make a post just saying "Man it's slow right now." And then the next 3 pages will consists of posts quoting that person saying "Ya I know." Whenever it gets slow here I try to look for a post in this thread that I can make a decent comment on to try and get a conversation started. Or I'll go a lot farther back in the thread looking for a topic someone mentioned that we haven't discussed yet. Y'know, relevant stuff. Not just "Zomg guys I'mz likes totally going to bed naow!" followed by 3 pages of people saying "Bye."

Mkrgross wrote...

Plus the name for Jack fans sounds so much better than "Talimancers." Where did they get that name from anyway? Are they bringing Tali back from the dead or something? Whenever I see the word "Talimancers" I think of necromancers and then I think of necrophyliacs because of that creepy ass paper mache of Tali. I know it's not an organic being, but I wouldn't be surprised if the creator of that does some freaky **** with it...

And someone here brave enough to search the Tali swamp/thread for a picture of it for me? :innocent:
