Sensational. We end up with a huge crowd of nerds taking our picture for "private use" late... ugh. I think I need a shower now...

Aww, come on.  You should be flattered Mondo.  You two would be the fantasy girls to a whole generation of ME nerds.  You could even start your own fan clubs.

From a fan:

Dear Mondo,

I've never had a girlfriend, but I just wanted to let you know, that I  think of you almost every night.  Sometimes even 2 or 3 times a day.

You're the best

I like Thane and Jack all the same, but that's a pretty shallow observation there as well. All the romances are deeper than they appear, they have to, because we only get a handful of conversations with these people. None of them are perfect, but neither are they as simple as you're making them out to be.

What you get out of a romance is what you, the player, put into it. It can be deep. It can be manipulative. It can be casual. It can be true love forever. It can be just one romance out of many.

On my non-canon, just-for-fun playthrough, I was putzing around with my Shepard's powers, and found that I could get my Paragon score up high enough by taking the other version of the class ability.  I had lost Miranda's loyalty in the Jack vs. Miranda debate, so I went to go speak with her, to get her loyalty back.  Shepard tells Miranda that he was only siding with Jack to keep her happy, and besides, she needs "special attention". At least he can "reason" with Miranda. I felt dirty after hearing those words come out of my Shepard's mouth, not because I particularly dislike Miranda, but because it's such a jerk thing for him to say, especially behind Jack's back, and while romancing Jack.

Ugh, I know. It's awful. If required, I'd much prefer choosing Miranda in the fight, then going to Jack afterwards and making up. I forget exactly what Shepard says, but something along the lines of giving Miranda lip service, of course you were right Jack. Jack says OK, but do it again and I'll kill you. :D

It's too bad doing it that way ends the romance with Jack though, even though you make up. So I always side with Jack in that argument if the Paragon option isn't available. (Even then... sometimes I side with Jack anyway )

I think if you have the option to regain their loyalty after retraining your passive skill after the fight, then it should work to get the persuade option if you retrain your passive skill before the fight. That's what I tell people to do right before doing the second loyalty mission, anyway. You can then retrain it back once you resolve the issue. (One of my many FAQ threads - maintaining loyalty.)

The one time I didn't have the persuade option available (new playthrough, no ME1 import), I went with Jack. This is because her loyalty mission came second, I had just seen Pragia, and now I was hearing Miranda say it wasn't really Cerberus and that Jack was a mistake. Aw, hell no, lady.

Of course, I could interpret Miranda's words as her being the ultimate fighter who hits below the belt in an argument just to get a riiise out the other person. I've done that before, purposely be a **** and saying things more to get the person to crack before I do in an argument.

Anybody ever use the renegade option to solve that argument?

I did. I fully understand that if that fight ever comes up again, I won't be able to interfere. I'd be going against my words.

Shepard might as well find a chair, a winecooler, and a couple of sandwiches, for the next time that it eventually happens.

Yeah, I used the renegade option to resolve that a couple of times. You don't have to have as many renegade points as you do paragon points either. I think it's the other way around with the Legion/Tali situation.

Get on the intercom to Grunt. "Grunt! Grunt! There's a fight and I want you to join in!"

That'll destroy the ship real quick.

Oh noes. All that effort mining for those upgrades.... Destroyed in mere seconds.

The armor plating ship upgrade also protects against Jack-related catastrophic ship damage.  Mordin should recommend that you buy the upgrade, if you haven't already, when he gives you the talk about her, before the Omega-4 trip.

So, do we have any cosplayers in the Jack thread?  Come on...admit it, tell us who you dress up as.:D

Let me guess:

Mondo - Miranda
Pacifien - Jack
Epantiras - Tali

You have no idea how many things I have in common with Tali... :innocent:
Lol, I don't know how Mondo looks like in real life, but I assume she won't be that happy in Miranda's catsuit :D

Talking about re-gaining loyalty, one the most hilarious moments of my Renegade playthrough was supporting Tali against Legion, then telling him "I lied to her, she's been crazy since her father died" as soon as she leaves the room XD

I've worn catsuits before, but these days I'd be lucky if I could crowbar myself into that thing...

But here's something just for the hell of it - Jack Screengrab 100 :kissing:

You won Miranda's loyalty back by going paragon? I did it the renegade way:

Miranda: I've got work to do commander, go chat with your friend Jack if you want small-talk.

Shepard: I thought you were stronger than that, Miranda, and smarter. I expected that attitude from Jack, not you.

Miranda: She's a child. Why would you side with her?

Shepard: We need her on board for this mission to succeed, and I need you to be ok with that"

Miranda:
Ok, you're right. You said what Jack needed to hear. I should've known you were focused on the mission. Every time I think I've got you figured out.
----------

Actually, I was telling you what you needed to hear.

Isn't the intimidation option to solve the confrontation saying something like "My opinion is the one that matters"? That sounds pretty dull, at least telling Legion and Tali you'll crush them under your boot if they stand in your way has a dramatic effect.

I'd have written that sooooo differently... :D

This is the Paragon Version:

Miranda: I've got work to do Commander, go chat with your friend Jack if you want smalltalk.

Shep: I thought you were smarter than that, Miranda. I expect that kind of attitude from Jack, not you.

Miranda: She's a child. Why would you side with her?

Shep: Of course she's a child - she couldn't be a child when she should have been one, and then someone cranked her biotics so high she can turn bulkheads into origami paper. You think she's going to be completely rational? Reasonable? Sane? You can argue about Cerberus not being responsible, but if you were her, would you see it differently? Look at what was done to her, Miranda. Can anything excuse that? Because if you can, you really are your father's daughter...

Miranda: I'm not saying it was right, Shepard, but can we seriously rely on someone that damaged? This mission -

Shep: I think about the mission. All the damn time. But I think about people too. Maybe you should as well.

Miranda: I'm sorry, Commander. Cerberus has been my family for so long, I...

Shep: I understand. I really do. I'm not the person you should be apologising to though.

And this is the Renegade Version:

Miranda: I've got work to do Commander, go chat with your friend Jack if you want smalltalk.

Shep: I'm here to talk, and you're going to listen.

Miranda: Comman -

Shep: Have you any concept of the odds we're up against? What's at stake? Because if you do, I'm not seeing it. The kind of person I need on my team would know when to act and when to shut the hell up.

Miranda:
She's a child! Why would you side with her?

Shep:
Because like it or not, we need Jack. That was what she needed to hear to keep her functional. You should have understood that. I need everyone at their very best for this mission, and if you can't manage that, then I don't want you on my ship. Are we clear?

Miranda: Yes Commander. You're right, the mission comes first.

Shep:
Good. Once this is over you can tear each other to pieces for all I care, but for now, our success should be your primary concern, not some playground fight. That's why the Illusive Man put you on my team, and that's what I want to see from now on.
