1) I also didn't appreciate the marginalization of the third squaddie (Jack of course) in the final boss fight.[/quote]
Yeah I agree. It's especially strange if you bring your LI because Shepard jumps to protect Liara instead of your LI when the Shadow Broker goes crazy. "My boyfriend/girlfriend is pancaked under debree right now? Oh well." Things like that you just have to brush off though. It doesn't really mean anything. It's just a way to setup the whole epic battle between the Shadow Broker vs. Shepard and Liara.
2) I'm just glad nothing we found out invalidates anything I've done or plan to do fanfiction wise. And no, I'm not finished with 5B yet, sorry. I'll try not to take 3 months this time, that's all I can say.

No problem Looking forward to it

Hey, look, it's Urdaniel! Were you as sickened by Cerberus at their treatment of Jack and mother as I was?
Yep, all the more reason to destroy the base and go gunning for Cerberus once the Reapers are dealt with. I found it interesting, btw, that the Shadow Broker was thinking of assassinating TIM and wrecking Cerberus - at least that's the way I read the little blurb on Miranda's dossier. And I'd have to agree with Mondo; I'm actually gaining a little sympathy for Ms. Perfect now that we know she's incapable of bearing children - something which several folks on this thread (myself included) believe to be true for Jack as well.
EDIT: Added part about Jack being unable to bear children. Also, do we have any formal (e.g. credits or somesuch) confirmation that Jack's VA is also Vasir's VA? I'm personally not quite convinced; but then again I've only had the opportunity to play the DLC once.

As for Jack's past... It kinda throws a couple of my own ideas out the window but not by much. It'd have been awesome if Jack's mom was a pirate who ended up settling down on Eden Prime. But I'm just letting my imagination get the better of me. Can't imagine what she'd think of Jack all grown up and everything.

BTW, this is very belated, but I noticed that Pacifien became a mod. Congratulations to you.
EDIT: @york - never heard that line myself, so I'm no help in that regard, sorry.

I;d hardly call three events overused.Urdaniel wrote...
I'll say that imo, Eden Prime is overused. First, we have it be the setting for the opening mission of ME. Then we find out that Jacob was on-planet but off-stage during that same mission. Now we hear that Jack and her parents hail from there. The galaxy's not THAT small, is it? I think - to go off on a slight tangent - that this is the reason a lot of people believe that Aethyta can't be one of Liara's parents because "what are the odds her mother is working barely a hundred meters from her office?" In the same vein, what are the odds all of these major players being linked to Eden Prime? And just to go back to the tangent for a second, there's a plausible (if not particularly likely) reason for Aethyta and Liara to be in close proximity: Aethyta is keeping an eye on her. But that raises the question of why Liara wouldn't know that to be the case and why she wouldn't mention it. But I'll stop there before I go too far off-thread.
BTW, this is very belated, but I noticed that Pacifien became a mod. Congratulations to you.
EDIT: @york - never heard that line myself, so I'm no help in that regard, sorry.

Ah right... Talking to Jack after her loyalty mission is when she lies down on her cot saying the line that goes along the tune of:
"You don't know what it's like Shepard, to have garbage like that following you. [touching abdomen] It marks you in ways you.... you don't expect."
Ah, yeah. Thanks. That's what it was. That's kind of inconclusive, but she does have surgical scars on her abdomen, which means that she could have been given a hysterectomy. That could have been done at Teltin, or on the Purgatory, but the former is more likely.

I mean, murder, theft, mayhem and destruction, I can roll with that. But finding out that she's a forum troll... well, I have my standards.
(I did like the little detail of opening Shepard's Spectre induction video and almost immediately closing it. Probably worried somebody'd catch her checking out the Commander.)

Haha, I didn't notice that. I wonder why she would do that?
Jack may have been banned from 4chan, by the way. The Shadow Broker's username was "NoGames411". "PS3 has no games" is a meme on 4chan.
I liked the bit about Tali taking steps to become closer to the Commander. She gets a translator for all human languages, she buys a book about deciphering human body language, she buys a book about human courtship, and then she repeatedly uninstalls, reinstalls, and upgrades her suit's Nerve-Stim programs. Hmm...

Regarding the Spectre video, though, even I'd shut that thing off after a few seconds. Little full of themselves, the Council, Humanity, and those Spectres.

This. I was Shepard, the one being granted PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWERS, and even I thought it was boring.

From the files of the Shadowbroker come this new revelation about Jack: a dark poem written by her, revealing, amongst other things, the reasons for her tattoos.

Thanks for creating that, Iwakura. I was meaning to copy down the poem Jack created.
I wonder why Jack's poem was rejected. Did they think it just wasn't very good? It looks like she poured her heart in to it. Was it too depressing for a poetry submission contest? That's a pretty lame reason.

I noticed that we don't yet have any pictures of Jack on the SB mission. What's up with that? Is it because the cutscenes typically focus on Liara?

Oh, don't we?

"Ok, let's grease this fat f*cker."

"Keep your hands where I can see 'em, Frogboy..."
As for the rejection of Jack's poetry... well, poetry, much like any other intellectual circle, is about as snobbish and closed-minded as they come. You don't tow a particular popular line, or you write something that either goes in a new direction or is just plain better that what already exists, it gets decried, derided and tossed out. You have to wait for the fat bastards that are hogging the trough to die before you get a look in. True, it is a little angst-y in the Henry Rollins King (or Queen) of Pain school, but that doesn't make it invalid expression. Unless of course you're writing for a Hallmark card market...

@Jackal904, I think Jack's poem was actually rejected. The editor said that it wasn't what they were looking for. Also, they said that Jack should review the guidelines for submission the next time she submits a poem, whatever that means.
EDIT: Some funky editing issues going on...

Yes, it was rejected because, to quote Megan McArnon, from Galatic Poetry Monthly:Jackal904 wrote...
Was her poem actually rejected? Or were they simply suggesting that her poems should be structured a certain way?
"Dear Jacqueline Nought,
Thank you for your submission to Galatic Poetry Monthly. We regret that we are are unable to use your submission at this time. Galatic Poetry Monthly generally focusses on metered verse, and you may wish to check the guidelines before submittings again."
