JD, here's the CDN article I was talking about.  It's the article for 9/17.

"'Are you kidding? I could show you signed orders drawn up to book Commander Shepard on obstruction of justice. And this is from the offices of the Councilors after the [expletive] Battle of the Citadel.'”

Things could get messy for Shepard.

Thanks for the link, york.  Is it some author trying to hype his book, in the hopes that it will sell more copies?  That's what it sounds like to me.

Even if the author does have this information, and it's genuine, it doesn't look like that it means very much.  For one thing, depending on Shepard's decision, the Council may have been killed in the Battle of the Citadel.  If they weren't killed, they had plenty of opportunity to arrest Shepard whenever he was at the Citadel in ME2.  Instead, if Shepard talks to the Council, they offer him Spectre status, with the hope that his affiliation with Cerberus will end quickly.

Nobody knows for sure, except Bioware, but it doesn't look like much to me.  As far as Admiral Hackett's Dossier goes, that could have been a way for Bioware to show us that the Admiral is still in Shepard's corner, and that Shepard does still have support within the Alliance, even though he has been working for Cerberus.

The Council doesn't change much, either way.  Also, if the Council really wanted Shepard out of the way, they could have given him Spectre status with the understanding that he's merely cooperating with Cerberus, and then, later, frame him, deny giving him back his Spectre status, and imprison him.

I dunno.  Defeated, scruffy-looking Shepard would remind me too much of Max Payne in "Max Payne 3".

That author could have been trying to make money, though.

I don't understand why they would need to frame him after giving him Spectre status, when he's already working for Cerberus, before the Council gives him Spectre status, though.  That should be enough right there.

Even still, the old Council is dead in the canon, I believe.  Isn't that what we learn in Retribution?  Anderson gave Shepard the Spectre status, and the new Council wouldn't even talk to him.

Too many unknowns.  Call me skeptical,  but I'm not one who buys into the speculative rumor mills.

As far as I remember, Retribution established that Udina was Councilor but no word about the other Coucilors.

Going back to the "why not arresting Shepard as soon as he/she enters the Citadel" thing... maybe TIM will be the one to frame Shepard:
1. if Shep destroyed the base, it will be TIM's revenge
2. if Shep kept the base, then TIM has enough reaper tech in his hands and he will no longer need Shep's help
3. TIM's a moustache-twirling, cigarette-smoking, vine-drkining villain, of course he will betray Shep sooner or later...

Going back to the jail-break part... are we sure that a highly dangerous criminal like Jack, so dangerous that you can see her mugshot even on Illium, will be conveniently held in the SAME prison as ALL THE OTHER squadmates? Or maybe that's the catch: Shep and Co. will be held in a SUPER prison like Alcatraz in space :police:

Well, I figure that Shepard's gonna be the only one taken in if that's the route they're gonna go. Whomever's gonna bust Shepard wants him/her alive. That's not really a guarantee that anyone else has. So I'm thinking that Shepard cuts a deal that s/he goes quietly in exchange for the lives of his crew. After that they'll scatter to the wind and wait to be rallied.

And I don't really see the point of framing Shepard. The Alliance (All-Human Council included) would want him/her because he's ex-military working for a known terrorist organization. The Council would probably want him/her for the above reason, along with the high probability that s/he has conclusive proof of the Reapers, which would be damning to the Council politically after denying it for two years. I think this is gonna be an unofficial black op. Because if they try him, they're gonna have to tell everyone why, and no one wants that.

Who're they going to send in a black ops unit that can subdue Shepard and his squadmates?     Cutscene magic?

NO ONE could take She, they would have to convince him to come in.
It's the only way...

Well, a jailbreak would be fun, I think.  If it comes from the Alliance, then I assume that the order will come from someone with a higher pay grade than Admiral Hackett.  If not, then it would have to be some kind of conspiracy, or they wouldn't be able to keep Shepard locked up very long, I don't think.

I don't think Shepard would be arrested for having proof that the Reapers exist.  The evidence is already there.  A Reaper attacked the Citadel.  I believe the Council denies the existence, because if they didn't deny it, then Shepard's importance is not so important anymore.  Neither is Cerberus.

Yes! Only cutscene magic can stop Shepard now ;-) or maybe the turian councilor will dismiss them out of existance

Why would they even bother framing Shepard, anyways? He's been working with Cerberus, and whether the Council gave him his Spectre-hood back, it wouldn't hesitate to charge him with things he has potentially done, perhaps after pressure from outside. It's just more logical in my book to just hit Shep with things he has done... aiding and abetting a criminal group, blowing up prisons, aiding known criminals, covering up various illegal activities, etc.

And as a little bonus, here's a Jack pic I don't think I've capped before... she looks wary here, and kinda childlike.

Yeah, it's while Shep and Jack discuss the second log in the last room before the fight with the mercs - the bad place. I don't know why I took the screenie... I have over 100 of Jack now, and Christ knows how many of my various Sheps and the other characters. That one came out nice though... glad I hit the key now.

I find that it can be hard to take good screenshots of Jack. Her expressive face makes it difficult to get a shot of her that isn't a derpface.

Are you recording the game video, or are you just hitting the print screen key while you're playing the game?

I just hit the Print Screen key then alt-tab out to Paint. I've managed to be pretty lucky with my screengrabs... y'see, I used to have catlike reflexes - then I got really fast! ;)

I don't have very good luck with the custom character creator.  My Shepard didn't import very well in to ME2, and his character code doesn't work, anyway.

Some people say that you should never use the default avatar in an RPG, but I have my own arguments against that claim.

She says that when you choose the neutral option after the krogan moves that huge metal sheet in Grunt's recruitment mission. Most of the time, the other squaddie will talk there though so I brought Zaeed this time and she finally piped up.
E: Gee, I don't know if I had enough spelling errors there. X|
