Was wondering that myself, though I think it always comes down to them wanting to show off as many tats as possible without offending anyone because a nipple showed. But honestly, if they couldn't go completely topless with her, I'd rather they'd at least consider a bit of style in the design. That leather top just looks so much more comfortable than the belt, which constantly makes me think of...

So... "Jaqueline Nought"? Is it true? If so then it is slightly amusing since "nought" is another name for "zero" and Jack was known as "Subject Zero". I think it is more likely to just be a code name.

I've always had this image floating in my head of Jack sitting all alone in the half-light of the Normandy mess hall, catching a moment alone while the majority of the ship is on down time... looking kind of lost in the space, a little childlike in that she seems out of place there. Mug of something hot steaming in front of her, but lost in all her thoughts. Somthing with a Hopper-ish feel to it; moody, lonely and a little sad perhaps.

And damn, did we all get cranky and confrontational last night or what? Jack must be rubbing off on us

Consensus around here seems to be that her last name is not "Nought", and that we can't be sure if "Jacqueline" is her first name.

I think that her first name is Jacqueline.

Considering her childhood, she may not remember her actual name.  I'd wager that 'Jack' was a name she chose herself because it was meaningful in some way (unless I'm forgetting something). Which raises more questions about her backstory, of course.

I assume that the name "Jack" came from somewhere, and I assume that there is some non-metatextual explanation for why the scientists call her Jack.   If not, if they only call her Jack because the writers call her Jack because she is similar to the character from "Pitch Black" and its sequel, then there is no way to tell, either way.

Ok,  I thought I remembered that the scientists called her Jack.  nevermind what I just said, then.  Though it is interesting that she would still use the name they gave her.

Man, we really need some Leiliana's Song style origin story DLC.

Jack has a pretty high standard deviation, second only to Kaidan.  That means the community has widely varying opinions on her.  That's not exactly news.

Don't go telling the world this, but here. This includes a smaller sample size than what XX55XX ultimately ended up using.

Bah. My final word on the matter is that the people that dislike Jack generally fall into two camps; people with a sensible reason (the "I don't like her because she's a bad person" crowd) and the people with no good reason (the "I don't like her because she has no hair/is a total b*tch/isn't Miranda-Tali-Liara-Whoever" crowd. The former make sense. The latter are boobs who most likely have not attempted to explore the character at all (and if they have, they probably should have a better method of articulating themselves).

One group, I'll gladly hear out. The other... well, they should maybe go play a game that has slightly more challenging characters in it. Super Mario Galaxy, perhaps...

And this cranky b*tch is gonna try and go to sleep again!
