Ah, ta hell wit ya'll! I like romance - sue me! :D

Better she finds someone like that instead of some ultra-Paragon that treats her like a charity case or some Renegade jerkoff that just joins the line of users...

Hormones!

I agree with Mondo.  There'll be schmaltziness in my saves and there's nothing anyone can do about it.  :D

Epantiras, do "artistic" and "serious" exclude cutesiness in what's going on in the picture itself?

Hey -  why don't we make Epantiras the Official Jack Thread Artist

That way, none of the rest of us ever have to draw anything Jack-related ever again.

And Mondo can write all of the fan fiction.

Helluva  time-saver.

No need to limit the creativeness! I say we foster competition and dangle the title of official artist out in front of them... so they have to keep making more in hopes of getting it! (We'll never actually give it though, but don't tell them)

That reminds me though, we haven't had a fic in a while. I hope our writers haven't gotten bored of it :crying:

Mondo is in her own league. She's a teacher for crissake!

I've written fluff before. Nothing romantic. This hideous, disgustingly cute fluff fan fiction piece from back in the day. It's about a kitten, a former celebrity manager and a contract killer from the Phoenix Wright games. The only other fluff I've done was Jack giving and getting a good rub down [~aaaand my mind just fell in the gutter].

There's a fic idea I've been toying around with in my head about the scientists at Teltin. Not crazy about just writing it out. Kinda feel like drawing it out for once. Eh, we'll see.

Hey, Jack thread I've got a question:

I really like Jack, but since I tend to mainly play on insanity I haven't found much of a use for her. What would you guys recommend I do?

That was a good fanfic, axl.  Jack and Shepard bonding is always good stuff.

I'm guessing the fanfic about the Teltin scientists will be a dreary one.   I can't really think about a way one could write anything happy about Teltin...

Apart from Warp Ammo, I can't find a way for her to be useful at all on the higher difficulties.

I always had a thought that all Cerberus projects start out all hunky dory until TIM starts going all OCD-******-ADD on his employees. That the experiments at Teltin originally had a noble purpose that somehow got distorted and perverted with a sudden change in objectives/methods, or in the case of my fic - faculty management.

That might be interesting.  We know from "Overlord", at least, that TIM is a results-no-matter-the-cost kind-of-guy.  Dr. Archer says that the expectations placed on him by TIM were unbelievable.  The scientists at Teltin could have been stressed by TIM in the same way.  It would be morbid to somehow show the scientists gradually letting their grasp of medical ethics slip as TIM puts more and more pressure on them.  Eventually, they're freezing children alive just to see how it will affect the drugs they injected them with.

Damn.   I made myself sad :(

One thing I've noticed is that a lot of Jack fans think a Sole Survivor Shep goes well with Jack's romance arc. Why is that?

I will say that my main Jack-romancing Shepard is Earthborn/Sole Survivor, even though my main main Shepard is Spacer/War Hero, in large part because Jack seemed to fit so well with him. Leroy grew up on the streets. He didn't know his parents, and he had to run with gangs just to survive. He might have fallen into a life of crime if he didn't make the decision to walk into that Alliance recruitment office. Likewise, he's learned what it's like to have the universe kick you right back down just as you're getting your feet, losing his footing again and again, on Akuze, and again when the Council shunted him off to the side and let him die, forcing him to become a pawn of Cerberus, the very people who destroyed his squadron on Akuze.

But because he's able to rise above all that and soldier on to be the hero of the galaxy (He's a Paragade, emphasis on the Para), he's in a unique position to understand what Jack is going through (not that his past has been as rough as Jacks, but it has been pretty rough) and know that sometimes, just as the Alliance helped him up, all you need is someone to help you up. And he's attracted to the gentle spirit under her tough survivor's outlook, and it goes from there, and I like it.

That said, I'm not gonna knock anyone who tries a different tack. I've enjoyed Mondo's Spacer Shepard and I think she does quite well with him. Plus, Hannah and Jack are sort of hilarious together.

I didn't play Overlord but in Jack's loyalty mission didn't they specifically say that TIM didn't know what extremes they were going to and wouldn't approve if he knew their methods but if they got results it wouldn't matter?

And also, Courtenay Taylor replied to me on twitter so her awesomeness multiplied by a gazillion. <3

I got the feeling that they resorted to the methods they did because of the demands placed upon them by TIM.  He might have objected to the methods, but he would have looked the other way anyway even if he knew about the things they were doing, as a the-ends-justify-the-means type.  "Overlord" seems to be more of the same.

In addition, TIM isn't above lying, deceiving and manipulating Shepard to get things done.

In "Retribution", he personally orders the capture of Paul Grayson, to have him experimented-upon with Cerberus' new Reaper-nanites-cocktail.

Gee. Thanks a lot Jake. :(

Aaaahhh! I didn't want to be the cause of this :-( I draw to support the Jack fandom, not to become some kind of art dictator! I support democracy! :wizard:

As a response to that fanfic topic, it actually might be a while before I start back on Son Of Mindoir. For two reasons:

1. I'm lacking the will to write anything down, in general.

2. I damn near abandoned my own, original story, in favor of doing fanart and fics.

So until I rectify that, I don't think I'm gonna be posting any more S.o.M. chapters. Just so you all know.

Unrelated Fun Fact: This original story of which I speak of is where I got my username from.Image IPB

I've not been fic-ing due to being way too snowed under with other stuff to sit back and let that part of my brain crawl out of the muck and do anything interesting with Jack and Shep. I've been meaning to, but just not had the time.

Jack can't sing, incidentally. Well, mine can't, at least. Can't carry a tune for toffee. Just had this impression of Jack singing in the shower and Shepard wrapping the bedlinen around his head to try and muffle it

I think I'll try and finish 'Candy' today... I need to go out and hunt down some food first.

All that musical ability, and she can't sing?  How tragic :(  When would Jack have picked up the habit of singing in the shower?  I doubt she had that luxury much during her lifetime.

That first shower must have been a relief.  I doubt that she would have bothered with using the public showers in the bathrooms.

It's funny that people bring up the fact that Jack must be a bit malodorous, because the notion never crossed my mind.  Why would one think about how a ME2 character smells?

It's just something that occured to me the first time you meet Jack; I just imagined her smelling, well, fairly ripe. I couldn't tell you at all what kind of perfume Miranda might wear... even after playing the game through how many times I just don't interface with the character. But with Jack, I had this whole complete idea of her - right down to the stale sweat, the dirty leather, the softer aroma of machine oil, grease... and those boots must, lets be honest here, absolutely stink. I think after a couple of days on the Normandy she would have decided the crew were little enough of a threat to allow her to go wash up... it's probably why I keep putting her in Shepard's bathroom so much; she's enjoying simple luxuries called hot water, soap, privacy...

I knew her fingernails would be dirty, basically. She came to me completely formed like that. It's why I like writing her - all the work's done for me ;)

I think it was you, Mondo, who described Jack as having scabby knuckles.  That was a nice touch.

I wonder about the nature of Jack's sense of vanity.  I don't think such considerations be taken too seriously, as she comes out of cryo with a shaved head and applied makeup.  Loyalty outfits and alternate appearance pack outfits become available without explanation, though I'm sure one could come up with roleplaying explanations for them.

Can we confirm that Jack had no actual face-model?  I just found out that Ashley's face-model is actually a Russian model.  Like Jack, I thought that her appearance had been fabricated.

This video shows some of the reference models used for the female characters in ME1.

EDIT:  It was another source that says that some characters' faces are actually composites from several individuals.  Maybe that's the case with Jack.

I don't think we've had confirmation one way or the other, but it seems like she didn't have a model. I'd love to know for sure though, especially if she actually did have a model.

Jack's face is probably one of the most well-done faces in the game so far. It is stunningly beautiful.
