And on the subject of the visor; yeah, I'd also really, really like to see it modded off. Hell, I love Jack and that outfit so much that I'd be willing to send a few bucks via paypal for someone to do it. I'm not too familiar with the modding community here...does anyone know of a relevant modder or two I could ask?

I'd suggest asking the Modding is Possible III thread, they're very helpful.

I wouldn't be too suprised if Jack's just trolling however my first thought was 'Jack's trying to reconnect with people and not donig very well'. Jack's rather prickly (tsundere even) at the best of times, and it's been remarked before in this thread that to a large Extent shepard befriends/romances her simply because they're too bloody stubborn to give up on her.

Then again, I first did the LoTSB with the Parashep playthrough that's hooked up with Jack so that may be colouring it.

Before I can even get to the point whether Jack will let Shepard take care of her or not, I'm debating if Jack is one of those types who won't take medication until her death without it is assured or if she's one of those who drugs out at the sign of a sniffle. I'm tempted to say the latter because I figure Jack is one of those who'd wonder why suffer if you don't have to and grab the Nyquil bottles.

She doesn't strike me as a hypochondriac. Besides, why should it be one extreme or another?

As for getting sick? I could see her demanding constant attention, but in a more tongue-in-cheek way, to give those attending a hard time because it's funny to her.

I figured having lived her on her own and in a state of "constantly on the go", she's had plenty of chances to get sick. Given how familiar she is with drugs, there's the chance that regular medicinal prescriptions won't work effectively on her. I like to think while she tries to avoid getting sick, she may likely tough it out and let her immune system do its job - unless her illness is serious enough to warrant heavy medication, meaning she'll have to stank-face her way through the whole ordeal while the docs fuss over her vitals.

If Shepard got sick, I'd think Jack would watch from the sidelines as she leaves him in capable hands. Mordin and Chakwas are more than capable of handling anything serious, though Jack might raise her hackles if Miranda starts butting in [hilarity ensues and all that jazz - this calls for a quickfic]. And while no one's looking, she'll sneak into the captain's quarters to watch Shep sleep.

Well, Jack may think that illness means weakness - and the weak are killed by the strong and she'll try to get a cure without others knowing it, because she does not want to appear weak.
However, as Axl said, traditional meds may not be effective on her. But hey, if she can run inside a derelict Reaper or a geth ship wearing *only* pants and beltbra WITHOUT catching a cold...

I think it really depends on how you interpret Jack. I could see her leaving Shepard to it, because she knows he's a big boy who can take care of hismelf (and Chakwas and Mordin, Chakwas especially I can see her trusting. I emphasise Chakwas because the good doctor makes it very clear to Shepard (and presumably the other crew) that she's not there for Cerberus, she's there because of Shepard.).



On the other hand she could become possessive or even using the dreaded word, clingy.

I can personally see her staying away during regular visiting hours but then sneaking back to watch over him during the graveyard shift where as few crewmembers as possible would see her doing so.  She's got a rep to uphold (or live down to), after all.  Similarly, she won't be overtly concerned with Shep's well-being when others are around (probably going so far as to be dismissive or unconcerned if not downright hostile to him) but discreetly solicitous when they're the only ones in sickbay.  I can't see her as being gushy-mushy - not even in absolute privacy.  Of course, if she's in a 'let's-push-everyone's-buttons' mode, pretty much any behavior might be fair game.

Shep: Yeah, caught the flu.

Jack:  Sh!t....  you fight Collectors and krogan and geth and you get your áss handed to you by the flu?  Pvssy.

Jack (sneers):  You can find that between sh!t and syphillis in the dictionary, Shepard.  Next it'll be chickenpox.

Shep:  I had that as a kid.

Jack (turns and waves breezily):  Disease-ridden aren't you?  (Looks at Chakwas) Call me when he ain't contagious.

Jack exits, chuckling to herself about the mighty hero brought low by a virus.

Not one of my ex's were the least bit sympathetic when I got sick, for that matter neither were my parents growing up. I've always had to take care of myself when I was ill. My mom gave me a ride to the hospital when I caught pneumonia ten years ago and I was stuck there for a week and I got one visitor. And that was my mother just stopping by to tell me that I hadn't met my deductible for my insurance yet. When I got out I was ordered to stay home for two weeks and still no calls nor visits to make sure I was alright. -shrug- That's kind of how I see Jack. She isn't a molly-coddler. She would just expect Shepard to take care of it himself.

That's...that's really sad. I'm sorry that doesn't like it was a very pleasant situation

I for one think that Jack would want to comfort Shepard when he got sick. I could see her walking towards the elevator to go check up on him and stopping her tracks, suddenly realizing how weak she was becoming. She'd berate herself for it, and she may later realize how that's a feeling that's considered normal.

Oh and for the the situation where Jack would watch Shepard sleep, I could so see that happening. But Shepard's dumb*ss would wake up and she'd freak out and try to make it look like she was doing something else

Heh I wouldn't call it sad.  It is what it is.  There is a silver lining to it I suppose.  It taught me independence.  To be honest I don't think I would know how to react if someone tried to step in and take care of me when I fell ill.  I just don't see how Jack could feel sympathy for something like a head cold or a mild case of the flu.  It all boils down to how she was raised.  She herself wasn't shown much mercy or kindness.  How in the world is she supposed to know that is how normal people react to those given situations?

I think that's pretty dead-on, in all honesty... I think she'd only be bothered if he (or anyone really) got seriously sick, something life threatening. If body parts aren't dropping off and blood isn't gushing, it's not serious - it's pretty much how I am too. If it was serious, I think there'd be a chance of Jack losing her famous cool entirely.

If Jack was the sick one, I think she'd probably push everyone away unless she was absolutely hounded into submission; she'd just wrap herself up in blankets and sleep it off and cuss out anyone that came making a fuss... doctors, drugs, all kinda pointless, you just have to beat it down yourself, show the bug who's boss. Only go and get poked and prodded at if you think it's serious, or if it's the only way to make everyone else leave you the f*ck alone.

Well, that would make sense, anything serious would be, well.... serious.  Jack would care then because serious borders on the possibility of death - and losing things she might just wanna keep.  Then you'd see Jack in the middle of the night cycle sitting on that table with a cuppa all cold and staring at that medbay door. 

There's your fic, Mondo - Jack holds vigil and we see who wanders by in the middle of the "night" to share some of the misery.

Oh, you know she's the worst patient in the cosmos.  Abusive, mean, b!tchy, a miserable experience for everyone that comes within five metres of her.  Of course, the plaintive little cries of "Could I have some water" or "Would you mind getting me some soup, Shepard?", and "I really wish someone would rub my back it's sooo sore",  would only be due to the illness.

What?  You've never exploited everyone within a three km radius and guilted them into constant attention and care?  You're going about it all wrong, kid!
