Yes you helped . I'm going to have to see all of the other scenes myself though, I guess I'll make a playthrough specifically for that. Thanks

Don't forget to choose the neutral conversation options during the "romance dialogue", since the Paragon and Renegade options make Shepard sound like a creepy, sleazy pick-up artist.

Yeah I've heard of those lines. One thing I fear is that I've heard that Shepard really seems like a stalker/creeper who refuses to accept that any woman could possibly turn him down throughout the Jack romance. Is there any truth to that? I really hope not, I would like Jack to be my '2nd canon' romance option. My first is Miranda, go figure lol it's probably odd that Ilike both characters.

During that Samara scene, the first time, I half expected him to yell out "you can't handle the truth!"

It's not so bad.  The Paragon and Renegade lines are really bad, though.  They do make Shepard seem as if he thinks he knows what's best for Jack.  "You're lying".  That one's gross.

Shepard's not this way with only Jack, though.  He/she's pretty bad with Samara, too.  "Samara, we have a connection..."  <_<

I'll make sure to avoid those paragon/renegade lines when I go through the romance. I love the Shepard/Jack pairing. The potential it has I think is really portrayed in Mondo's many fanfic's. I'll have to see if I the in-game romance stands up to what I think it could be.

I thought I had a playthrugh saved for ME3 where I'd shacked up with Jack, but apparently not. So I need to do another playthrough. Sigh. Already done a soldier, redid my female vanguard (turned out to be a dud, I broke the Kelly romance somehow with that one, must have botched a dialogue. V annoyed) an engineer and I'm doing my adept for Garrus and yeah. I'll have to think of something for Jack.

Hm. Just had a thought actually-I wonder if Jack's dialogue might work like Garrus' in ME1; lots of paragon choices pushes her to X and renegades to Y. I doubt that myself, but it could be interesting if it does.

That would be me. I get what they were trying to do, but the sense I got was that he felt he had a right to the relationship. If I have to take one specific path not to feel like a creep, that's a serious flaw.

Yeah, I often hear that in the Miranda thread. I don't share that opinion. I was able to get through the romance without encountering any lines that bother me.

Well I've done Jack's romance before, but I believe I mindlessly chose the paragon options without really paying attention. (it was forever ago) I'm really curious about her romance now, if it's well done she could easily move into my second favorite romance option position. I really love her character; her loyalty mission and past is really moving. I was reading in the "Characters you dislike" thread and someone said they disliked Jack. In of itself, that's perfectly okay. But this person disliked her because  "She was just a whiner disguised as a hardass". <_< Wow, that's just...inaccurate and degrading.

You don't have to avoid all the Paragon/Renegade lines; often those are the best ones. It's just that there really are a select few that come off as strange... you can tell what they meant for the lines to mean, but the wording could use some work. You can usually tell which Renegade options are the ones to avoid by the paraphrase, but the Paragon ones might catch you off-guard. Neutral is safest, though.

But if you want to make this one of your main playthroughs, I've saved before conversations and reloaded when Shep comes off weird to take another option... don't really want the paraphrases to ruin the conversation for me. I don't see a problem with doing that, you get to hear more dialog that way anyway

I wish someone could give me a list of dialogue choices that wouldn't make me despise Shepard. Collider mentioned that at one point in time, when Jack says she needs more time to think, Shepard says "you're not the thinking kind." and I was so aghast. How could he say that!? O.M.G. Is that the paragon or renegade approach?

This is when I remind myself that you can basically take any character and simplify them into a single degrading statement. Some people just have awful point of views and are determined to do this. Awful to me, anyway. But then, I'm biased toward Jack.

Renegade option I believe.  In the Paragon, he tells her he can wait, at least for awhile.

You know, I'm actually rather interested to see people's intepretations of Jack at different stages of her life. She didn't always have a shaved head and she didn't always have tattoos. It looks like she might have tried out a few different identities in her quest to find herself.

I find a lot of kids with traumatic or chaotic backgrounds do that. Try on a lot of different identities, I mean. Haven't seen any that chart all their different identities with tattoos, though. Man, I still wish they'd focused more on her tats...

I notice Jack's pants are a lot more formfitting in that image.

I'm running through a casual soldier run right now to see the dialog and I'm currently at Jack's LM. I'll just do firewalker missions to get through the romance quickly, and I plan on saving before each conversation. Mainly so I don't choose a cringe-worthy line but also to have them to watch as I please. So far the lead up dialog, which I haven't seen in ages is very well done.

The neutral option is Shepard being all "I don't give up" and the paragon option Shepard calls her crazy and just says that the rid to the bottom is going to be worth it. I dunno. What do you guys/gals prefer?

Also, is the final conversation before the romance scene the convo where she says "You're weird Shepard, that kinda gets me off." ?

I don't mind the Paragon and Renegade responses there.  They both call her on her attitude, and show Jack that Shepard sees that there's more to her than just the rudeness and the tattoos.  They're presumptuous, though - who is Shepard to say something like that?  At least the Paragon option makes it sound like he's willing to endure the difficult times for the good.

Yeah, when she says "You're weird, Shepard, that kinda gets me off" is the last one before the final romance scene, and it's the official cut-off to her dialogue options.   After that, her dialogue just loops on that line.

Okay, thanks. Well, I've completed the entire romance arc (minus the final scene which I just watched on youtube) and the verdict is in lol. It was fantastically written, if you avoid the douchey lines. (which is surprisingly difficult)
Everything from the voice acting, to the camera work, to the content itself was pleasantly well done. Jack's sturggle to let someone in, and particularly the scene where she discusses Murtock were especially moving. The tears in her eyes and the wavering in her voice when she said death was a "f*cking on off switch" was a touching scene. I understand you now Jackolytes, she's officially my 2nd favorite romance option . I will have to import my canon Shepard again to pair him with Jack (hmmm what class?). It was exceptionally well done.
