It's not all bad.   There are some cogent points.  The author just seems to be paranoid.

Gave it a bit more than a skim... Some stuff I agree with, actually, but smothered with an eye roll-inducing tone.

Shepard, however, gives none in return....he's like a rock.

I have to say, 'Shepard' is probably the worst protagonist I've come across in any game. He's infinitely worse than Jacob in terms of blandness. Oh, and the choice of his background story is probably the most empty and meaningless of 'choices' Bioware's offered. Totally irrelevant.

Last time I played, I can't remember, but maybe I hadn't bought Kasumi yet...

And I was taking Kasumi with me this time... :o

Maybe if I don't take Kasumi?  Or perhaps delete/redownload Kasumi?  I guess I could try that... :?

You could try re-installing it, although I'm not sure it would make a difference. I hope it sorts itself out. You shouldn't have to miss out on such an amazing character! XD

During one Shepard's talks with Jack, how would she react to Shepard talking about some of the messed up things that have happened to him?  By "messed up things", I mean one of Shepard's possible background stories.  Would she call him a "p***y"  and brush him off, or would she be mildly moved by the fact that Shepard, too, has something to share?  When would be the best time for Shepard to share?    After Jack talks about Murtock, or at another time?

He should probably give her something before Mutock...show her that he's vulnnerable as well.  Then it would make sense (to me) if she then continued to open up.  Shepard needs to show Jack that he's as human as she is, as troubled by crap that happened in the past.  As it stands, he's an untouchable super-hero who's dealt with everthing 'properly', and I'm not sure why Jack would open up to him or would relate to him on a personal level.  I think Jack needs that personal touch, more than the other LIs.

I think Jack would be excited by hearing about Shepard's past -- whatever it is. I doubt she'd let it show, but she'd probably feel a stronger connection to Shepard if there was even the slightest hint of suffering or hardships there. I think she wants to relate to someone, or be close to someone. Which is probably why so many people have managed to break her heart.

Also, I don't believe for a second that Jack would've come to Shepard's quarters when she knows so little about him, and I will always feel like Jack is being coerced, or at least pressured into a relationship with Shepard.

He's been the sympathetic ear and/or shoulder, though...that's enough to lure any "tattooed psychopath" to your quarters.

Coercive or no?

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic (I have blonde moments) but the answer is "f*ck, no".

Shepard wasn't even being sympathetic. He basically says, "Talk to me, I wanna f*ck you," and all of a sudden Jack starts talking about Murtock. There is no exchange, no give and take. Why would you go to someone who's only ever lost, and take whatever else you can from them?

If you ask me, Shepard is the psychopath.

Refresh your memory? :3

The build-up.

EDIT: Yeah, watch this, and please explain to me how this gives you paragon points?

Shepard's cardboard-like personality throughout ME2 is why we have fan-fiction.  Delicious fan-fiction.

Fan-fiction fixes everything.

Though, not everyone reads it.

I love fanfiction, and write it too. Read as much as I can because a lot of fanfic writers are more talented than the bellends who get published.

Watched the first clip (which incidentally reminded me that it's been absolutely ages since I've run the game). Either way, other than the "I didn't say you weren't worth staying for" part, yeah, his answers seem to be inappropriately making light of her discomfort at his advances. Symptomatic of...being a sarcastic jack*ss. The paragon points are indicative of him being a paragon of...jack*ssery?

I don't know if paragon points are supposed to be the approval points of the Bioware God or something, but they shouldn't be there. If she weren't bound by script, I think Jack would've made it very clear that she still doesn't trust Shepard and that he has no business trying to pry private information out of her.

Doing a loyalty mission shouldn't be all it takes to make her love you. (Notice I say make. ¬_¬)

Alas, neither not taking Kasumi nor the reinstalling seems to have worked.  :crying:

Well, let's hope it works if you ever get around to another playthrough.

A slightly different version of that picture is in the works, wherein Shepard has his head turned to the side, so we can see his tearful "Thousand-yard stare".

By the same artist I assume, can't wait to see it.

Yup, same artist.  Just a minor edit of the original picture.

One part of that article that really rustles my jimmies is when the author calls the final romance scene "borderline male rape fantasy", because Jack cries.  Moreover, I think the author says it because when Jack lays down, the tears are still on her face?   There's exaggeration, there's hyperbole, and then there's...that.

Lurking mode deacitvated

Oh noes! Thane cries during his romance scene too! Does it mean that it contains "borderline female rape fantasy"?
/sarcasm

I just had to say that.

This is (sort-of) headed off by Bioware in the Lair of the Shadowbroker stuff-I noticed that Jack (when she wasn't on forums getting banned for trolling/failing to get along with people) was looking Shepard up.

First of all, I applaud your username! 8D

I've not played LotSB yet, I've only seen some videos, so I don't know what was in her portfolio and stuff. But I don't think she'd be looking him up if she did actually trust him.
