Ok, I gotta say now that ME3 has been revealed, I'm wondering how Jack is gonna be in it.

I mean, even if she's not a teammate she's gonna show up somewhere.

I'm wondering if Jack has gotten any more powerful in the the time that is passed until ME3. Of course, I don't know how much that is though. Would love to see her tear the place up.

It would probably be at least a year or two, I would not be surprised if its the exact same length between ME 1 and ME 2. Advanced or not, if they could see the entire galaxy they are damn far away. Its not like they pre-planned for such an event anyways, losing connection with the Citadel.

Thoughts on what Jack's role will be, or whether romancing Jack will play a part in the story?

A period of 2-3 years between ME2 and ME3 seems like a good excuse to exclude or marginalize the ME2 squadmates. Of course, this has been said a million times before. Just don't want to see our favorite characters get pushed aside.

I'm pretty sure it won't simply for the fact that Bioware would not design a character specifically for female players to romance [Thane] then kill him off screen.

I'm guessing real time from the end of the last bridging DLC.

It's not like ME1 where it was just the game and then absolutely nothing until the following March when Bring Down the Sky came out. And then a whole year after that before the crappy DLC that made the baby Vishnu cry. And THEN ME2.

If BioWare's as good as their word and they space out the ME2 DLC, marginalizing ME2's squad will be about as jarring as chucking a brick through a plate glass window. "What? They were just here a second ago..."

I know I may pay for it later, but the closer ME3 gets, the more confident I am Jack will be back and kicking ass come next November.

Just wondering if anybody things we might see Jacks's mom, AKA the unidentified woman in ME3.

I was looking over Jack's shadow broker dossier, during the conversation between the doctor and the woman, the doctor tries to blame politicians/government for lack of funding etc, as the reason he couldn't save the woman's child. I can't remember what the woman's reply was, but basically she's pissed, obviously. Could losing her child in this way galvanize her into changing from whatever she was before (a regular person I'm assuming) into an activist or maybe even a politician?

The reason I ask this is because after reading the dossier, I had this image of Jack's mom shouting at the masses in some public spectacle, "biotics are bad look at what there L2 implants have done,

look at all those who have suffered from eezo contamination, look at what they did to my child, we need to stop all biotic enhancements, and we need to segregate all those with biotic enhancements."

I tried to get my point across as best as possible, I'm no Mondo thats for sure.

Unfortunately, I can't see them going too in-depth with NPC side stories this time as we've already had nearly an entire game devoted to these characters (who aren't necessarily all coming back) and there seems like a lot to do for the finale with respect to the "bigger issues at hand."

Maybe DLC or a post-trilogy spin-off?

Well, we've always had to deal with the personal bulls--t from your squad. One of the things that grabs my goat is folks whining like ME2 invented the concept.

I think it's entirely within the realm of possibility we'll meet Jack's mom somewhere down the road. She needs a future after ME3, doesn't she? Might as well put a human face on it.

Hello, Jack thread!

So, I never really "got," Jack as a character. I don't know why...I thought I liked her, I even had a Shep that romanced her, I've been nice to her, mean to her, indifferent to her, and she never really clicked for me.

But I started another playthrough a little while ago, with my renegade Fem!Shep, and all of a sudden, Jack is my favorite squadmate! She's hilarious, she's interesting, and she doesn't nag my Shep (like almost everyone else seems to--except Grunt). I guess what I'm saying is that I'm suddenly aware of how awesome Jack is. I don't know why it took me so long, but I'm glad I finally figured it out.

So, hello, Jack thread. I support Jack, and I guess I'll be stopping in here to chat once in a while from now on.

And you have no idea what it was that made you able to appreciate Jack's character more while playing a FemShep?  Could it have been as simple as camaraderie along gender-lines?

Also, hello!

I wonder if Jack's mom could be tied into the biotics vs non-biotics confrontation on earth, that may or may not amount to anything. I do like the idea of Jack's mom being against the use of biotics, reunite with her lost child, and oh by the way she's an all powerful biotic. This could be something that Jack does on her own, after reading her SB dossier, at the very least it could give her and Shep something to talk about. Anything would be better than Jack getting the Tali/Garrus treatment, "hey Shep remember me, I still love ya."   the end

(woman ranting about the negative effects of biotics on society)

Jack - "I already want to kill this woman"
Shepard - "Well okay, but I should mention that according to Liara's dossier on her, she is probably your mother"
Jack - "F***"

That's a really good idea, GeneralSlotts.  Jack's mother turning out to be a prominent anti-Alliance, anti-biotics-experiments advocate, and then finding out that her daughter is a very powerful biotic.  Lots of potential for drama there.

EDIT: There could even be a verbal conflict between Jack and her mother.  I'd like to see Shepard try to find a way to resolve that one.

I'm starting to believe that Shepard will meet people from his/her squadmates past (relatives, friends, former partners, nemesis and so on) in ME3 and they'll make a remark on whether said squadmates are still alive or not. I liked Mondo's idea about Niket's wife being angry at Miranda for what has happened to her husband.

Maybe meeting Jack's mom would be a bit unrealistic - the galaxy is huge - but hey, we met Liara's (alleged) father, so why not?

I dunno...I read a lot of this in the fan threads...but the reaper attack might start quite early in the game...and then running around doing another round of family/friend business for your squaddies while thousands and thousands of people die every minute is just silly. I personaly think that something like doing another round of the loyalty missions (while it would be great to learn more about the characters) is just wrong when a gigantic fleet of reapers is ravaging the galaxy.
However I could see a mission like saving a loved one of a squaddie from a planet under attack while also fighting the reapers effectively on that planet. Like Jacobs son, or Thanes son.

Hey guys... You get the funny feeling that maybe we're going about this all wrong?

Maybe how the squad gets recrited or whatever is the inverse of ME2. What if they all start out loyal and the events in a more unified plot could prove to break the loyalty? What if it's unavoidable this time and you can't Paragon or Renegade out of it? Someone's getting deloyaled and STAYING deloyaled?

Which of course begs the question: What do you see coming in ME3 that could make Jack ditch us?

I can't really see much sense in forcibly wrenching the squad members' loyalty away (and them with it), particularly if it's to be a no-win scenario. What would be the purpose? Simply pruning a bloated crew to focus more upon the remaining ones?

Not so much pruning, so much as creating dramatic tension. BioWare's bread and butter is choice and I think they're good at it (hell, the final decision in DA:O:A had me get up and smoke a cigarette to mull it over). I'm saying that ME3 could very well have these go-to-hell decisions between you and your squad and I'm simply wondering what would make Jack ditch us.

I mean, if initial glances are to be believed, we're supposed to be rallying civizations to our cause. And you can't make a coalition without breaking a few hearts.

I don't get it? You suggested "unavoidable" scenarios in which we're powerless to stop certain plot events (I guess losing an NPC's loyalty would fit this), but you're also saying Bioware's good at offering choices, right... So are you saying they should go against their grain by not giving us choice, thus making it more "interesting" by being different?

Anyway, the obvious make or break moment for Jack would be something along the lines of that DLC mission...can't remember the name off the top of my head, but with that Cerberus experiment on the guy who can control machines or whatever. Cerberus comes to you and says, "Okay, we're close to completing our 'save the universe device' but we'll need you to forcibly fetch us some test subjects for whatever reason. Deal?" Meanwhile, Jack stares blankly.

Forgive me, I perhaps should have clarified. Like choosing between two squadmates for whatever reason, or choosing between a squadmate or a huge tactical advantage. Shepard's accrued quite the selection of armed whackos and they're not all on the same moral wavelength.

I mean, I've heard complaining that there are situations in ME2 like the Jack/Miranda clash or getting Tali acquitted that you can just weasel your way out of with a decent enough Paragon or Renegade score. Truth be told, they bothered me myself, and there might have been enough complaints that the weasel options may be done away with. I'm just thinking about a potential either-or scenario that may involve Jack. As to what that might be, I have no idea.
