Ah, that never gets old. I especially liked the motivator caption: 'Jack with the Cain. All is lost.'

Think of it this way though, maybe the "Jack formula" worked well in ME2, and she was more popular than we think. Therefore they made a Jack-like character in DA2. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

Been a while since I posted here but I just recently read Fenris's description, and I see most people have already made the connection. He pretty much sounds like a dude-elf version of Jack. He even has "markings" all over his body.

There's that chart of Bioware cliches floating about the internet. I know that Bioware likes to recycle its own content, but back-to-back use of a character archetype is a bit hard to overlook.

Maybe Bioware has listened to those who said that Jack should have a d**k. Sweet Lord of Murder
/sarcasm
Anyway, on the surface one could say that Carth, Sky and Thane are all similar characters because they all have a dead wife and a son lost in space (well, actually Sky does not) however they're quite unique once you get to know them. That's why I forgive Bioware for constantly pulling a Carth Onasi in every RPG :-)

Seriously, if Fenris ends up being popular because of his appearance/background I think I'll go flip some tables and then double facepalm in a dark corner somewhere.
Only males can be brooding tattooed magic-powerhouses, axl. You didn't know that? <_<

While I don't play the games, the next Gears of War game will add ladies as squadmates, and the stereotype of the GoW games is that they're for ultra-masculine meatheads. That new Halo game had a female Spartan, IIRC. Maybe there's hope.

I gave her the grenade launcher once and she ended up shooting me and Miranda in the back over and over again.

I'm confused so do we want heavily muscled powerhouse women, or don't we? Just thought I'd had that Gears of War has the best bromance ever, just saying.
Equal opportunity is nice, but copying a character but changing its sex because the female version was unpopular is a bad thing. Also, it's pretty damning of a game's writers and community, in general.

This made me laugh so hard...I find it really easy to believe that Jack would do this. At least before you complete her loyalty mission. After that, only Miranda would have to watch out.
As for the "Jack=/=woman b/c Jack=/=feminine" that's ridiculous. You would think that people would at least stop to think about the women in their own lives and how different they [probably] are before making such a stupid argument.
Ugh, I hate misogyny.

I'm with you here, it was the comment about Gears of War and Halo adding female characters that through me for a loop. How does adding paper thin female characters to a group of paper thin male characters, inspire much hope at all. Didn't quite get the comment about Gears being targeted towards "ultra-masculine meatheads," in my experience Gears of War is targeted towards everyone, male and female. Sure the main story barely exists, but you get some high quality unique game play, and maybe the rarest thing of all, split screen co-op that isn't an immersion breaker in itself. IMO Gears of War doesn't deserve your ire, but another game with the same initials God of War sure does.
