Would like to show a little support for jack. She's one of the few characters in the game who consistently makes me laugh.

Hi Royce,

Thanks for the welcome. On my first playthrough (with ME1 FemShep) I chose the Paragon option during the fight. When I replayed, the Paragon/Renegade options weren't available, even though one of my replays was a carry-over with the same FemShep.

I get your point about not wanting to save Miranda after her comments about Jack. I confess, the first time she got killed (her lifeless body lay on the ground as Collectors walked by - apparently they couldn't even be bothered to melt her down), I smirked.

I know, I'm an evil person.

By the way, has my computer got some virus or are the forum pages all leeted to buggery?

I'm primarily a contributor to the Tali thread, but I wanted to come in and show my support for Jack, too. Her romance plot was truly excellent, and I have a real soft spot for her. I am personally of the opinion that all the LI's will come back as crew in ME3, at least potentially, and especially if you are romancing them.
I think Bioware will be able to continue all the romance plots, mainly because ME3 will probably be mostly plot-driven rather than character-driven, so the romances won't necessarily entail big missions of their own; probably just some extra dialogue and a few cutscenes. Not to imply that it will be minor, just that I don't think continuing the romances will require a ton in the way of resources.
That's what I'm hoping for, in any case. I like all the romances, honestly, but Jack's is especially emotionally charged, and I would really like to see what happens between her and Shep in ME3, and to what degree her personality develops.

Thanks for the support. I do hope you are correct that BioWare will at least bring all possible LI's to ME3. I know I will be super bummed and pissed if Jack isn't a squadmate in ME3.

I'm not necessarily proposing this as a special mission for Jack in ME3 or anything, but I wouldn't mind letting her and Shepard get up to some shenanigans-- not quite going pirate, exactly, but maybe doing a bit of semi-illicit work for profit.  Obviously this would be more for the Renegades, and it would have to fit as a credible side mission in the context of the overall story, but it's not as if Shepard has never had chances to help smugglers before, or to accept a bit of hush money.  For Shepards inclined to that sort of thing, they could present an interesting opportunity for some unique interactions and discussions with Jack.

Maybe BioWare could even build more off of the choice you help her make at the end of her loyalty mission, and let us continue to either encourage Jack's more criminal, unforgiving, self-serving hardass tendencies, or soften her up a bit more (sway her more toward Renegade/Paragon, basically).  I would definitely not like to see Jack as a goody-two-shoes type, but letting her development take a couple of slightly different paths depending on player actions might be interesting, as others have mentioned.  (And not just romance or no romance, ideally.)

I have no idea how likely this is.  The fact that she's one of ten ME2 squadmembers (not counting DLC)-- any of whom can die-- makes it seem like a lot of work to do for one character.  However, she is also a love interest, and I'm hoping BioWare has some cool stuff up their sleeves for the romance continuations and conclusions.  Plus, if any of the characters are crying out for this sort of treatment, I feel like she is.

Those are some good ideas. It would be interesting to be partners in crime with Jack . But I would probably take her down the paragon path, whatever that would be. I'm sure BioWare will have something in ME3 that will make us Jack fans very happy. I have faith in BioWare.

Ya BioWare really put a lot of good work into Jack. I'm not bashing on other characters but I think Jack has significantly more depth than any other squadmate. She's multilayered and has this whole other level to her that's not initially apparent, you just have to talk to her often. BioWare did a phenominal job with her.

And I too have a thing for bad girls .

Well, to be fair, how they set it up is that they make it look like the squadmate volunteers to lead the second fireteam.  The squaddie brings it up as Shepard doesn't say a thing.  Mayhap to absolve guilt.

No, Shepard does call out their name when you choose a fire team leader. At least he does for Garrus. Garrus is the only person I ever choose to lead the fire team.

But I am supremely confident she's-a-comin' back.  Going at it from a numbers standpoint from the data we've compiled, let's look at the probability of those ahead of us in the thread count....

To quoth from the Book of Grunt, "If you kill the most powerful creatures in the universe, all that's left is... us."  We'll be hitting triple digits in a few days, so they're gonna want to factor us in.  Plus the developers like her, the press likes her, and she's the only one with a binary romance path to exert influence.  They're not going to leave us hanging.

I'm also confident she is coming back. There is too much potential for her in ME3. And to make such a compelling and deep character, and then to just take her away from us, would be a very cruel thing to do. And it's also very comforting that she seems to be a dev favorite.

Is Miranda really that hard to kill? I got her killed in two play-throughs, simply by taking Jack's side in their fight. I spent the rest of each game rescuing stray kittens in the hope of raising my Paragon high enough to get Miranda back onside, but failed. First time, she got killed as part of the group that stays behind to hold the door; second time she got killed when the platforms fall to pieces after you kill the wickle baby Reaper

By the way, anyone know how high your Paragon has to be to get her bloody loyalty back? I almost had a full tank by the time the crew got abducted and she still hissy-fitted at me.

Hello and welcome! Miranda is hard to kill because there are only two opportunities where she can die. Both of which you have already found out. The reason for this is that she has important lines of dialogue throughout the final mission. She is the one that communicates with the Normandy and suggests the moments where you choose squadmates to do stuff.

To regain Miranda's loyalty you need 100% paragon or renegade. I had the same problem as you. I was super close to 100% but just not quite, and I couldn't find anywhere to get more paragon points. She ended up getting crushed by debree .

Haha yes she is very funny. I like bringing Jack and Grunt with me everywhere because they have the funniest lines. Thanks for the support .

If I had to pick someone purely from ME2, it'd be Mordin or Legion... those two are a tough call.

I quite like Kelly too.  God knows you'd never be able to buy her memoirs outside an adult bookstore.

Love interest-wise, definitely Tali.  I do like my rough-and-tumble girls, but there is something about sweet and shy ones, too.

Overall, though, gotta go with Mordin.  Probably one of BioWare's funniest characters since Minsc, and I always gotta do all his conversations, no matter how much I'm rushing through my latest playthrough.

She says "Ur gotta be kidding me" chose Jack as Fire Team leader once just to see what Mirandas gonna say ^^. Best character after Jack defenitly Legion. Those two are the only ones I really wanna see in ME 3 again. The others r not that important.

Garrus.  Especially in the second one.  He's got the laid back, Humphrey-Bogart-in-The-Big-Sleep, seen-it-all thing going for him.  Which is unassailably cool.

Hmmm, that's a tough question. I really like Grunt, he cracks me up. I like Mordin a lot too, he's really funny. And I like Garrus a lot because he's such a badass and he's pretty funny too. But if I had to pick one of them I would pick Grunt.

Tali was probably my favorite character in the first game-- definitely my favorite squadmate.  I don't know if I have a singular favorite in ME2, but she's up there, and I'm also very partial to Mordin and Grunt.  Them and Jack are my favorites, though I quite like most of the characters.

If you're still getting that, take a look at the bottom of the page. There's a language dropdown right under the FAQ/Site Map links, that can be set to "1337" (I'm a buccaneer girl myself). If you've not still got that issue or if that doesn't help, just ignore everything I just said.

Excluding love-interests (Liara):
Samara, without question. 
Incorruptible, powerful, wise, stoic, seasoned and flawlessly-determined. 
The Third Oath of Subsumation seemed to me to be a total cop-out on Bioware's part just so that they could ease her in to the storyline and in to Shepard's crew, but I'd rather have that than no Samara at all.

Having a code that strict, and one that everyone can look up the exact wording to, is kinda a major handicap.  Even Nihlus managed to use it against her on the fly.  With a little planning, someone with unjust intentions could play Samara like a puppet.  So i wouldn't say flawlessly-determined.

Eh, not sure if i'd pick a fav.  The character I was most pleasantly surprised by though, was Grunt.  His manner of speech, fluctuating between crude and relatively eloquent, is entertaining.

This is true, I guess :happy:. Then I will say Jack takes home first place, Zaeed comes in second. And I give out a "Special Achievements" Award in the field of general badassery to my Shepard.

Personally I cant really decide, Zaeed is like Chuck Norris in space, Grunt is simply awesome and Legion and Mordin are also very cool.



I think that if Zaeed had actually some real conversation on the ship, he would be the second coolest for me. Now, I going for: 'Urdnot Massani "Legion" Solus'.

I'm vaguely horrified that they even contemplated shoving Jack that far into the stereotype box... believe me, I've got no issues with bisexuality, but damn... I thought they were being clever by just not having her go there despite dialogue cues and the stereotype flavor-rub they rolled Jack in visually. Evidently it all just comes together in the mix...

Shep: Whoa. Hold it. Back up there... you're what?

Miranda: Your second-in-command.

Shep: Erm... says who exactly?

Miranda: The Illusive Man.

Shep: Is he here now? Is he in charge of this mission? Is he the one getting shot at constantly? Is he the one risking life and limb to save the galaxy?

Miranda: (irritated) Well, no, but he did sink unlimited funding into putting you back together again after you died...

Shep: Did I ask for that? Did I ever stand up and say I really wanted this job? Because of him I've lost two years of my life, my girlfriend probably still thinks I'm dead and must be shacked up with someone else by now, the Council hate me and I have to put up with some jumped-up eugenics experiment second-guessing me all the time and complaining about how her costume is too tight? Did I request a secretary with ideas above her station? No! I wanted soldiers, tech experts, unstable villains! I'm Commander here! And my second-in-command is... is... EDI, who's my second-in-command?

EDI: While Executive Officer Lawson is technically your second officer, you have spent more time discussing ship-board operations with Yeoman Kelly Chambers, Commander. This is potentially because Officer Lawson is always 'busy' and wishes to talk 'another time'.

Shep: There you go. If you want to be useful, go answer my emails and feed my fish.

Miranda: I... I...

Shep: Fetch my second-in-command, Miranda, there's a good girl. Oh, and if you're going to be my secretary, could you at least wear a pencil skirt and some glasses? Oh, and a coffee would be good. Cream, three sugars.

Miranda storms out of the briefing room, muttering under her breath.

Jack: Damn, Shepard... I could take lessons from you!
