Yep, she's the only one who treats Shepard as a normal man/woman, without "oh, you're yoomanity only hope" or "gosh, you're a dashing commander and I wuv yoo" etc. Maybe that's why some people don't like her- they want everybody to be a firm believer of the Church of Shepard

I think it was because she insulted my fem!Shep that she liked Jack. Her reaction was pretty much, "You are hilarious, and I will force my friendship upon you as much as Bioware will allow."

Edit: Also, thanks for the pic/line.  I forgot how strongly she worded her opinion.

And as far as that other thread asking "Does anyone find Jack pretty/hot/attractive?" goes, I'll say this:  The devs did a great job with Jack.  She's certainly more pleasing for me to look at than Miranda's ugly mug.

Jack has the most beautiful virtual face I have ever seen in a video game. 
By comparison Miranda has an ugly potato face. 

Regarding Jack I'm remined of a conversation between one of the female protagonists Kelly Harris and her new boyfriend (They just met over an interentdating service) from Sidney Sheldon's ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK?
Now for context Kelly's husband had recently passed away and she had an incredibly troubled childhood including being molested. She basically turns into an ice queen with multiple emotional barriers

Guy: (He's leaving after dinner) You know what is the first thing I noticed about you?
Kelly: (THINKING) Ok here we go! You have a nice rack! I want your legs around my face bla bla...
Guy: The pain in your eyes 
Kelly: 

So basically the "Guy" is a perfect man of sorts but it's not the point.
It's something I imagine my own Shep telling a paragon romanced Jack.

That's not to say that the other characters were ignored, but still.

If the voice actors are smart, they would ignore the obnoxious fans. It may be sad that that's happening to them, but it's the internet. Nothing is sacred here, and nothing should be taken seriously.

I think it's the characters they flesh out/put alot of depth into that people hate the most. I *think* it was David Gaider who said about Aerie and Anomen that he was actually rather pleased by the strong reactions (Yes, Anoman does have his fans... in some ways he and Viconia are a proto-jack to an extent) they got, because he felt it meant that they made something resonate with the people.

Edit: if you're curious, the reason I mention Anomen as a proto-jack is thus: Anomen has a crappy childhood (like Jack, but not nearly as bad) having grown up with an alchoholic father after his mother died. Jack puts up barriers and Anomen brags and tries to impress people with tales of his deeds. Alot. It's just a way to bolster his own self doubt though. Also like Jack, if you don't romance him you miss out of quite alot-if you take the Lawful Good route when you romance him for example, he stops bragging (it's pretty much gone in expansion pack/conclusion of the series) and becomes alot more like Alistair.

You know? I've just made me turn from an Anomen-hater to an Anomen-neutral (not yet an Anomen-fan, that will take some work). I actually remember some lines of his chaotic-neutral self, they were better than the frist impression I had. Blame my paladin allergy... the only videogame paladin I've seen so far that really deserves that name is Samara ;-)

That is an amazing costume.  I haven't seen one better.  The idea to do a bodystocking so as not to need professional bodypainting done was a great idea IMHO.

I guess the saying "you can't please all of the people all of the time" holds true here.

If people don't like Jack, why are they hate spamming the VA? She just voiced her, not wrote the character. What was people's problem with Jack? Did they just not like her, or if they're spewing hate mail at the VA, did they hate the voice? Her voice was fine, what do people want her to sound like?

As for Kimberly Brooks doing Ashley, I really, really, disliked Ashley, and I did think the acting for her was really bad. Although I thought Liara's acting was bad too.

I've said it countless times, I hate Miranda, but I would never blame the voice actor. I wouldn't even blame the person who wrote her, because the fact that I hate her so much proves that whoever wrote her did a good job. They had to have known that there were people who would hate Miranda simply for the part she plays. But I guess the Jack hate is a simple dislike, one that I respect people's opinion on even if I don't get it.

One of my friends who plays ME said they hated Jack and when I asked why they replied "How can you like her? You say she's your favorite, you need to explain that one to me more than I need to explain why I hate her to you."

And why are people b****ing anyways? This game gave them the ultimate out for any character they never wanted to see again. And aside from loyalty missions, and a few scenes and conversations (which you didn't have to do), it was completely possible to skip interacting with a character you hated.

Just makes me think how unreal she would look coming out of Shepard's shower dripping wet. Like a manmade tiger, moving oblique from a forest of steam and perfume into a landscape of steel; frame a chaos of lines and shapes, snatches and gleaming fragments of jet, emerald, ruby, fractured glass and ivory... muscles under skin moving with sinuous, deadly momentum... what hand or eye dare frame thy fearful symmetry?
