Thanks Batlass, I liked it a lot. With a mentor like Jack, Tali's going to turn into quite the badass, Reegar wont know what it him.

I'm, sorry, but...

What do you think would happen..

If Shepard did this, out of nowhere, on Jack?

Random.

For the record, Jim Carrey is legendary.

I like to think after to much contact with 100% paragon Shep, Jacks Epilogue would be something like.

After some months traveling the Galaxy Jack "Subject Zero" found herself a nice place on Earth. With the money she got for her services in the War against the Reapers she founded a special school for parentless children who suffered from abuse and violence. Even long after her dead the school still remained a shelter and a symbol of hope for children who had to wander alone and wished for nothing but to forget the past. Some say, if you listen closely, sometimes you might hear the happy laughter of a woman and her many children who were given a new chance.

Hah I always enjoy it to put the ME characters totaly out of character in my head :D

Just off the top of my head, if Jack wasn't romanced by Shep, but given chance to let go of her baggage, I can see Jack being best given a "capping off" ending like D-Day in Animal House - a last parting shot of her careening out of sight in a stolen security vessel, laughing her ass off, and the simple caption "Subject Zero - current whereabouts unknown."

That, to me, is perfect. Slice of fried gold.

If she is romanced though... I still vote for giving her a normal, real, life. Her and Shep give it a go for the long haul - maybe it doesn't work out, maybe it does, but it's the life she was always denied. She should have a chance to experience it for herself, on her own terms, with someone that may not always agree with her, but will always respect where she is coming from. Someone that will hold her when she needs it, and give her space when she demands it, and bite their lip and try not to laugh too much when she starts pounding reporters in the face for prying into their private life, and will try and share her amusement when the pictures of them "otherwise occupied" during an admittedly dull speech at some public occasion by Admiral Hackett end up all over the extranet. Give and take. A real life. She deserves it. Case closed.

And if a little girl they decide to call Miranda arrives one day...

So for the purposes of this hypothetical, we're assuming Shepard can dance?   /dancing jokes

To be honest, Jack might think he was attacking her for a second.  Think about it.  He suddenly grabs her and starts throwing her around like that?  No way is she going to react well.  No way at all.  Shepard would be lucky to walk away from that encounter.

I can't imagine Jack settling down with Shepard somewhere on a nice planet. I think that it would be too much of a change for her- to go from a life full of action to being some sort of a housewife. The same goes for Shepard- after dealing with "ah yes, the Reapers" threat he'll probably be too important to be left alone by the Alliance/Cerberus/Council to do what he wants.
I see them relaxing for a few months, just taking time to heal all the bruises and multiple hangovers but then they'll probably seek some kind of "adventure", considering both of them had a pretty busy life up to now and maybe they don't know how to lead life other than that.
I have this horribly cliched image in my head- ME3 ending with Shep and Jack on Normandy looking at the stars and into the future:
"There's still so much to be done".
"No ****, Sherlock".

Heh, I dunno, she might surprise him.

Like Mark Wahlberg did to that one gal, in The Other Guys.

And I'll state that Shepard is still trying to work out the metallic kinks in his body, hence the limps. It might be a while before he can go all out.

And Grunt and possibly Legion tag along, cuz they got nothing better to do. But what would they call such a team.......

Those screenshots are kinda neat Rusty.  I'm not sure what you have the graphics settings set at, but I think I can tell that the film grain is turned on.  They're not very hi-res, and they're a little cloudy, but I think this is what makes them look appealing, actually.  It also seems to bring out more color to her face.  Especially in the bottom one.  Those aren't your typical Jack screenshots.

The look comes from altering them in Photoshop. I try to give them a more "photographic" and less CGI look. I'm not the kind of person who wants everything crystal clear; prefer a more "impressionistic" look. I have the in-game "film grain" turned off and add my own later for better control. And a ton of blurring. They're only 1280x720, but the in-game texture are too low-res (particularly the character bodies) to make it worth capturing at a higher resolution, IMO.

Loki, your fic was great!

And no, you do not suck at emotional scenes. You are completely wrong about that.

I've been toying around with an explanation for the "Shepard Shuffle" that has nothing to do with his injuries (although I'll grant Sundown his due for bringing up something entirely plausible) and everything to do with his background.  Unfortunately, with the pokey pace of my writing in recent months, it'll be a while before I'll have anything ready for prime time, as it were.  Heck, I'm not even sure which part of Things Worth Keeping it'll take place in (if there's even a place for it in there at all).

I can't be the only one who thinks this is totally in-character, can I?
