Now I don't frequent other fanthreads for characters that much; once in a blue moon flyby when someone points something out or whatever. But I do wonder, sidestepping the Talimancer's block on Fan Street (because sometimes that place slides straight into creepy raincoat-wearing territory), how many other romanceable character's threads have art with this kind of genuine tenderness in it? I mean, sure, there are plenty of shall we say more adult-oriented artworks around, sure, and there's a couple of sweet ones with Femme-Shep and Garrus (although the whole chafing question is inescapable), but how common is this elsewhere? Because that Axl, is beautiful.

And it's not even finished. Damn, we're good! :kissing:

The Jack thread seems to have the most talented artists.

Speaking candidly, I wanted to present my opinion regarding the Jack romance, and see what people think. Note that I'm not trying to flame anyone or their preferences; she wasn't made to be easily likeable, and those of you who do like the romance are clearly seeing something that I'm not. That said...

I don't hate Jack, and I don't think that the possibility of a romance with her is a bad thing (though making it straight-only... that decision, I like less). The problem I have is that it's utterly eviscerated by ME2's general lack of deep interaction with squadmates; this is something that's essential with someone like Jack. And it's not easy to just imagine out of the air, like it is with several of the other LIs; you're having to break through emotional armor left by a lifetime of trauma that is, to almost all of the game's players, literally unimaginable. As presented in-game, it's too fast, too total, and possibly worst of all, totally one-sided. It's true that no one in the game aside from Jacob, Kelly and Liara ever asks about Shepard's feelings, but like with the problem of speed, it hurt's Jack's romance a hell of a lot. It's like she's Shepard's supplicant at the end, especially with the romance cutscene, which could have been sweet but which I just find creepy.

Willing suspension of disbelief.

Realistically you can't expect a vast amount of in-depth conversations giving the pace of the game and the amount of squadmates.
And there are certain conversations that hint at the amount of time that has gone by, so I chalk it up just not witnessing all of their talks.

Sorry to hear you found it creepy.

Although it's not finished yet, it's refreshing to see a Shepard that doesn't look...young.  Not just his face, but in particular his hairline.  Although it could be just that it's unifinished.

I was a little disappointed that Bioware didn't include a shade of grey for Shepard's hair in the character creator.

Grey-haired Shepard wouldn't make sense. He's only 35, and this is the future, so Future Medicine!

And a half naked woman with no protection running around in combat does? You know how many examples I can give of things that don't make sense in ME? A lot!

Besides, I've seen guys in their early to mid twenties with grey hair too . Lots of it. Some people find it attractive. Screw future medicine.

I'm just tired of people portraying Shepard as being in his/her early 20's. He/she is a battle hardened soldier before being a Spectre. I agree with JD.

Depends. That appears to be default male Shepard, who is not balding, nor does he have gray hair. He does have that small hairless, wedge-shaped spot on his scalp, though.

Sorry to hear you found it creepy.

If they'd cut off the shot with Jack lying down, that would have made me feel many times less unclean.

I know what you mean Xillizhra. These romances are rushed, but I may share your thoughts on this, I think.  It just doesn't play out very well.

Here's my take on it:
I've said in the past that the cuddling doesn't  fit.  I reversed myself later, and said that Jack needed some cuddling.  However, although I do think that she may need some cuddling here, it just doesn't quite fit with the way that it plays out.  I think it would probably be more appropriate if they had just hugged one another, and then the screen went black, assuming everything else in the scene stays as it is.

Them lying down on the bed together with tears and mascara rolling down her cheeks, just doesn't feel quite right.  It actually appears to trivialize Jack's emotions at the time, to me, and it gives me the impression that the whole scene is nothing but Shepard and Jack acting upon alterior motives that they had all along, under a false pretense, with Jack's emotions being displayed as an excuse to jump in the sack with one another.

WIth that said, I doubt that the devs intended to leave the impression that I got from it.  I sometimes think that these romance scenes are just slapped together, as if they're simply meant to appease the young gamer, by giving us some "eye candy"...or some such.  They're not complicated.

In contrast, the sex scene down below Engineering is absent of the glaring flaws that the romance scene has up in his cabin.  Everything is out in the open and transparent, and Jack seems to be quite in character.

I agree, Xil, the way the intimacy was done was creepy. The vision I have for the final romance scene doesn't involve any sexual intimacy. Wasn't Garrus' just the headbump, and fade to black? Something similar to that, showing Shepard and Jack getting closer, without being in the usual standoff situation, would have been much better.

Personally, if Jack were played in the ME movie I'd want it to be done by Olivia Wilde. IMO if she shaved her head, she'd look pretty similar. I also think Wilde could pull off that character too.

In my perspective, I think the scene was done quite well. The way I was looking at it, basically It showed that there was no rush towards having sex and that they were both in the moment of just being with each other, not caring about anything else. Mostly just focusing on being able to hold on to each other.

Axl are you holding out on us?:police: How is that you randomly have a never before seen fan pic to fix a double post with? :huh:Did you just quick sketch that right away or do you have stashes of beautiful artwork that you are hiding from our lustful eyes?
If it's the former, please quick sketch more (I don't care if it's unfinished, I must see it lest I dramatically die of desire:crying:). And if it's the latter, please satisfy our greedy visual cortexes. Thank you axl, you are brilliant:wizard:, even if you ignore me.:D

(Please forgive my overuse of smilies/emoticons... I was bored:alien:. If it bothers anyone, here's some more: :kissing::(:happy:<_<:o:blush::?:innocent::P-_-B);)^_^:o:):blink::bandit:=]:pinched::devil:<3)

Shep's 31 (or 33 depending on how you view it) iirc. I know it's canon he's in his 30's.

Yeah, I knew that he was in his early to mid 30s. You think that since Shep is in his 30s that he wouldn't or shouldn't have grey hair and/or a receding hair line, and that he should look young, Loki?  Or are you speaking specifically about the default male Shepard, and how he looks?

Edit:  Not to put words in your mouth though, in case I'm misunderstanding you, but Sheps age is common knowledge, so I assumed you were maybe trying to make a point.

Eh, I dunno. It depends like all people-one maleshep (the one that ended up with Jack actually) looks dreadful though; I'd put him in his mid 40's myself he looks that weathered and generally old. I guess it depends. All depends on the whole 'humans luive to 150' thing shep can mention in ME1 to Liara. Is it a the D&D half-elf system, where you just sorta of hit middle age and stay there for a while, or is hit 80 and stay like that for a while?

Lover - check...?
Tease - check
Denial - check
Stalker - probably yes
Insane - double check
Abusive - double check
Possessive - probably yes

What does it mean!?

I'd argue the insane to the hilt, but I'd say Jack belongs on an arc somewhere on the left-hand side of the scale, starting between Lover and Denial, swinging harder outward close to Abusive and Posessive, curving through the median and receding towards Lover... like a wave as opposed to a bell curve. And she moves up and down the line based on mood.

I'll try and draw it. This should be highly amusing...

Addendum: IF the BSN gets its head out of its ass and stops logging me out <_<
