Did Jack give a reason for agreeing to participate in Shepard's mission, beyond feelings of gratitude and/or obligation? I'm trying to figure out how Jack would fit in to Shepard's continuing efforts to stop the Reapers. This isn't a "Will Jack Return in ME3?" thing. The "Arrival" DLC just made me wonder if she could have any other motivation, besides her self-interested, Chaotic Neutral philosophy.
F*ck! I didn't think of that. But it does keep with the character... It would suck to have ME3 with no Jack, but Jack really would have no reason to stick around except for shep. Unless they write around that, or make it convenient for her.

What about that ME3 fanfic? Into The Unknown, I think it was?
Thanks, googling it.

Maybe because she has nowhere else to go? Or maybe because she knows that wherever Shepard goes, something awesome happens. Also, don't forget that Shepard gave her access to Cerberus files and you know the old saying: keep your friends close, but keep your enemies even closer.

I always loved that one.
These three are my favorites from deviant. They might by a little racy, depending on your constitution for such things.

She wanted her files in the Cerberus database onboard the Normandy. "You want me on your team? Make it worth my while."

She doesn't really have anything better to do than save the galaxy. Especially knowing what the team knows about the Collectors being repurposed slaves of the Reapers and all, I think making sure they're stopped is priority to everyone.
If she's Shepard's LI then that's a little added bonus.

For any newcomers who are wondering what I'm on about and have the spare time and interest to read a passable (so I've been told) piece of (unfinished) sappy fanfic, here's the link:
Things Worth Keeping
Well that's it. Good luck to everyone. I hope the new DLC is good and that ME3 doesn't disappoint. I hope to be back someday.

If you had to pick three of them that you felt could form a friendship with Jack, who would they be?
For me, I'm thinking.....
1) Grunt - I think this one will be unanimous as he and Jack are kindred spirits, I think they would develope a friendship.
2) Ah lets see here, hmmm......Jacob - I think she would like his gruff no-nonsense manner, plus she doesn't seem to hold it against him that he works for Cerberus as I recall.
3) Another hard choice, I was gonna go with Garrus since he's such an honorable fellow, not to mention there shared dislike for the cheerleader, but now I've got the idea for Jack and Legion hanging out in my head, so I'm picking Legion.
*Shepard has lectured Jack on her lack of interaction with other people on the Normandy, ordering her to at least try get to know one of them. In her attempt to not completely comply, she decides that she'll go hang out with the robot, that will show Shep what a stupid idea this is. Initally, most conversions between her and the robot ended with Jack telling it to, "shut the hell up" but over time a companionable silence developes between them, and Jack finds herself starting to care for this robot. Legion's handy to have around, its not trying to analyze or judge her, and it can be kept in line if need be.*
You guys/gals are more insightful than me, so what are your thoughts?

I definitely see her being ok with Grunt and maybe mess around with Legion for laughs. But, Garrus would be too righteous for her liking, and jacob's too wooden for her taste, not to mention he has soldier stamped on his forehead, I'd imagine Jack would hate that.
For some reason, something tells me she hates Zaeed. There's something about his demeanor that tells me they wouldn't get along, and she might even try to rip his good eye out.
She might get along with Kasumi in small doses, talks about excessive carnage versus stealthy tactics, but it would mostly be superficial. Mordin might appeal to her because of his reputation for extreme violence and take no prisoners attitude, Jack would respect that. But Jack's isolated for the most part, and she loves it that way.

Grunt is an obvious choice, it was discussed few times before.
Apart from them, I don't know if she would like to be friends with anybody else.

As for interaction with other crewmembers... I can see Jack being really tempted to push Samara's buttons, just to see what would happen, but her self-preservation instinct would probably kick in and prevent that from going too far.
After that question you asked a couple weeks ago, GeneralSlotts, I can imagine a universe where Jack and Tali are 'friends' after a fashion, but in the canon universe, I'm not really feeling it.
I agree with android that Jack would probably like Mordin. She'd also probably be as amused as all-hell by his love of musicals.
If Miranda weren't on the Normandy, I think her arch-nemesis would be Thane. He's pretty much the complete opposite of Jack, and he seems like he'd be a bit judgmental as well.

Jack was one of the characters that had a reason to be in the Normandy. The way you know of her is artificial and forced (a dossier), but her reason to team up is natural and credible. The same can't be said of Samara, for example, or Thane, or Grunt, or Tali, or Garrus.
She could have been introduced in the story in a better way though. Not through a dossier.

I've just finished Shadow Broker DLC, this time with Liara/Jack LIs, and I have to admit that I never noticed before that Vasir is voiced by Courtenay Taylor. Shame on me.

But how did Liara know...? I know it sets Liarafans off, calling Liara creepy, but how did she know...?
She can read minds!!! Jack sent her a gloating email!!! Shepard sent her a "We need to talk," text message!!! Zaeed posted the security videos on the extranet!!!
Honestly, I have no idea. Maybe she's the universe's greatest information broker? And she doesn't hesitate to use it to spy on people in her personal life?

Liara has different responses if you cheated on her with ME2 squaddie and she's a really good information broker, so that explains it. She just stalks Shepard and knows everything about him/her, nothing creepy to see here
I sure hope she can't, otherwise in ME3 she will kill my Shep WITH HER MIND!Batlass8 wrote...

Know what I like about the Jack romance? How everyone looks at Shepard like he's lost his mind, until they get to a point and they have nice things to say about Jack. The only one who reacts to it normally is Mordin, and even then "normal" is a relative term. Kasumi talks smack about the two of them together until after the suicide mission when she gets it. Liara get her betrayal line until she gets a grip and tries to fathom their attraction. It's like the characters are hitting the same moment of clarity we all did.
On a Somewhat Unrelated Note: Know how when Fenris was announced for DAII we all thought he was just Elf-Jack? Well it's true, they're exactly alike! Except Fenris isn't funny... Or charming... Or endearing in any way shape or form, really.
Thing is, I'd like him if he grew his hair, got rid of his markings and acted more ladylike.
