The magazine says she's returning. She's not listed as "Part of Squad." The playable squadmates have been listed elsewhere (Ashley/Kaidan, Garrus, Liara, Sanders).

EDIT: It lists Jack as "maturing" and being "softer."  Character development is good.  Character replacement is bad.

The magazine also says that Jack most likely is playable, just not entirely confirmed yet.

Which one are you looking at?  Playstation Magazine lists Jack as "Confirmed."   GI and PSM are saying different things.

The PSM3 magaine lists her as confirmed for appearance but not part of the squad. It says underneath, however, that because Jack was so popular that she most likely will be part of the squad. She's being handicapped favorably.

Jack being mentioned as "popular" is weird, to me. I guess she could be popular in more ways than one, though, such as being "popular" for being infamous, in some respect.

I've always believed that Jack is actually a lot more popular than some think. Though I have nothing concrete to base that on, but to be fair our only proof of her lack of popularity is from the various hate threads that pop up every once in a while. Jack depth as a character and some of the more polarizing aspects of it provide easy ammo for the haters/trolls. I mean Garrus has his detractors but if you started a hate thread titled "Calibrations....WTF?" not a single person would take the bait, and that would be just bad trolling right there.

Saying "that because Jack was so popular that she most likely will be part of the squad", sounds like nothing more than opinion to me, although I haven't read the article.  Didn't the PSM3 article say that James Sanders is the sniper from the ME3 trailer, and Bioware said that's not the case?

Speculating about speculation?  Hell I can do a blog with all sorts of colorful stuff, that'll have you guys speculating for days, if you want me to.

On second thought, I might as well make a little money while I'm at it.  I'll give the Jack fans a good deal though.

Jack fans - $2.99

Everone else - $5.00

:D

I'm fine with the idea of a redesign for Jack's appearance, but whether it's a good thing or not is obviously going to be dependent on its execution. I'd say the two most important things they'd have to maintain in her redesign for me to give the thumbs-up are:

1) Do not change her face. This includes dem eyes. In ME2-Jack Bioware created one of the most gorgeous and believable video game faces ever. I don't look at Jack's face and think "that looks... incorrect" like I do for the majority of video game faces. Her facial animations were amazingly well done as well. To easily see how a face can be messed up (by Bioware no less) for the same character between games, just look at DA2 Alistair. Oh my goodness.

2) Keep the tattoos visible. Not only visible, but they should remain her defining attribute - the main thing that grabs your attention about her and gives her look. Her tattoos were amazingly well done, and while I could see the covering up of her tattoos as a way of showing she's moved on and matured... please don't. They're too awesome.

Outside of that, I'm sure they could make improvements. The belt bra has to go, I like Axl's concept of a replacement that will still show off the tats: browse.deviantart.com/

Agree, I don't mind different outfits or anything of that sort, but changing the face or tattoos is a big NO!

We don't know how Jack will be redesigned, but I'd like to have multiple ways for Shepard to react to her "change," whatever it is, on the conversation wheel. I'd also like to be able to spend some time with Jack, if she isn't a squadmate.

I hope they change something about her. Not her character explicitly, but kind of everything that surrounds her. For instance, I think it's cute how that magazine implicitly assumes punk mentality is just a teenager phase to mature out of. And how Jack needs to be rescued from that prison, and how her mind has to be rescued from Teltin, and how her heart needs to be rescued from her difficult past and she ends up crying on Shepard's lad. It's so condescendent. The game never treated Jack as an adult who knows what she's doing.

Must see this redesign... Soon. As long as she hasn't decided to get rid of her tattoos, and grow her hair, to be less "confrontational" then I can live with it. I certainly won't complain if she grabs herself some armour* (at least just covering her vital organs!) for the many firefights.

*Decorated, accordingly, of course.

However, she is confirmed for ME3, and that is squee-worthy.

I just hope this 'alleged' redesign was made with Jack's fans in mind and not the "Needs more hair and less tattoos" crowd.

Would it really be so bad if she grew some hair? After all, she's not a prisoner anymore. Also, the fact that she 'softened up' a bit makes sense, since she dealt with her past in ME2. It's just character growth.

People who are wondering if the PS3M is accurate in terms of the claims about Jack's appearance. I believe they are, as they quoted the Art Director Derek Watts as their source (and quoted what he said).

However it doesn't meant she will be with hair, though I think we might see her with more upper body clothing :P.

EDIT: In case people are wondering what she MIGHT look like with hair:

Don't get angry at me, but that magazine mistook the sniper guy for Sanders and said that Ashley is "sexually aggressive". I won't believe a word of what they say ;-)

I agree, the article looked like it came from someone's bottom, but the info about Jack being redesigned was quoted from art director Derek Watts, unless the person who wrote it is a blatant liar which wouldn't surprise me. As for Jack being confirmed, I would assume that is still up in the air since the article said she was with no proof.

To clarify: they quoted him as a source, sure.
But they didn't mention the source cited.

This all smells of sensationalist speculation. I wouldn't trust the journalistic integrity of PSM one bit.

She didn't get that haircut from prison, she had it since her cult days and decided to keep it.
