Jack in legwarmers, anyone?

Oh snap, I'll never be able to take that mental image away from my head! Brain bleach!!! ;-P Lol

Seriously speaking, that dude did a great job :-) I've already left a comment on his DeviantArt profile. I also liked that he resurrected the "human" tattoo on her back: it was on the model made by Blur for the cinematic trailers, yet it never appeared in the final version. I liked that it was gone in the game, yet I think it looks good in that pic.

It looks like she's farting sparks. I'm not sure what else that face is intended to convey.

Sure, it's obvious the guy is capable. But I don't like it much at all. Personal preference, I guess.

Considering she has an Omega symbol tatto on her back. Can someone Photoshop her into a God Of War cover? I mean even Kratos would tell her to chill out

Also, Patryk Olejniczak is a god among artists. He should be the art designer for Mass Effect though I doubt the Unreal Engine 3 can bring his art to life

It's good, but I liked the other ones more. Maybe I had too high expectations?

Concept art has always been about teamwork. No one person, including the art director, can completely define the art style on their own.  Changes will always be made, and people always have to accomodate. And besides, several recent and upcoming games have already proven the Unreal Engine these days is flexible enough to handle most art styles, stylized realism or no.

Ooh, we might see Jack's new look soon. ^^

Edit: wait, I think I understood it wrong. They might have meant the game itself and the not the cover. :X

I'm excited. It's a subtle pleasure, seeing Jack getting attention, after spending so long hearing people call her a bald ****.

Sounds like good news. Finally registered my game, and can share in the Jack love. The only love interest I can go through with. Hoping that her appearance in Mass Effect 3 is good.

They obviously knew what they were doing - immediately polarising to the audience, then later the nuances are noticed, and the interior supercedes the exterior to those that see that first.

And the rest of us that already knew get to revel in the thrill of being vindicated ^_^

Okay, so, Jack's a very expressive person.  Her facial expressions and her body language say a lot, and that's not even mentioning her great voice-acting.

At what times did you notice that Jack's actual thoughts, feelings and emotions leaked through her toughguy front, because of her expressiveness?

An example that comes to mind first, is at Teltin, when she's talking about how just being at the place scrambles her emotions, making her feel like both a tough ****, and a scared child.

I'm pretty sure she'd skin the drill instructor, and hang him over a puddle of his own blood, so the vorcha can know which way to go to find their dinner. Then again, they could follow the sounds of his blood curddling screams, repenting over "ordering" Jack to do anything.

I now have this image of Jack being yelled at by R Lee Ermey and her just snorting at all the yelling and saying "Make me, old man." :D

I doubt Jack would react to any of those kinds of instilling attitude-adjustment. She'd just shine them on back, ignore them, just plain resist, right up until the point someone put their hands on her... and they'd regret that for the rest of their lives. All five seconds of it.

Jack would break the boot camp. That or every bone in the instructor's bodies. Whichever came first. Making Jack "grow up" is reliant on giving her a reason to beyond trying to make her. She's gotta want to do it for herself, or for someone else. And I think we all know here how to make an inroad to Jack's heart...

First 10-20 seconds of Jack's reveal trailer:

"Turns out, mess with someone's head enough and you can turn a scared kid into an all-powerful ****."

That to me already says:
- she acknowledges herself as a vulnerable person
- she accepts that the things inflicted upon her turned her into a living weapon
- she says it with such ease and rationale, she's likely being sarcastic

Ok, now I'm officially hyped. When does that magazine get published!? :o

EDIT:

I assume Jack won't be on the cover, this is how it's supposed to look according to the PSM3 magazine website

I'm still hoping though.

Even before landing on Teltin she says it was a mistake coming back here, so maybe for a moment she regrets telling Shep about the facility. She toughens up seconds later and tries to keep the facade during their little trip, but then we get our share of puppy eyes.
I always loved this expression on Jack's face, when you finally "catch" her on Purgatory. It changes to her usual "tough girl" expression the moment she starts talking.

Yeah, but I'm talking about moments in-game, where her expressivenes betrayed her actual emotions and feelings, despite the toughguy front.

I like when she reaches the "dead end" and growls in frustration until she notices the Normandy with that big, ugly Cerberus logo on it :-)

I wouldn't necessarily call it a front. That tough "I'm gonna make a bloody smear outta you" attitude is a part of who she is. This is exactly how she endured her treatment at Teltin, not just with fear. With anger. With resolution. She doesn't humbly accept the things that happen or are inflicted upon her as some mere fact of life.

Although that one scene where Jack was flipping out felt rather forced.
