Why not?
Ok. It was in response to the "Jack is Jack even in a sundress." The truth is she isn't. Art direction for movies, photography, and video games is for the sole purpose of reinforcing a character. For example, a dark character in a dark situation would dress in a way that would relfect the character's persona in the situation they're in. Thereofre, Jack in a sundress wouldn't be Jack unless there was a reason for it in her personality. If she was a person, perhaps you can make the argument that she's being ironic, its laundry day, or she's wearing it just because. But in a game or movie, the design is chosen with a purpose. See a "sexy" version of Jack might be a goth look with a mini skirt or something, it fits with her personality (to a degree) but she doesn't wear anything like that since a ravaged prison suit and leather bra makes more sense for a fugitive on the run.
So, changing a character's appearance whithout changing their personality wouldn't happen with a good art director.
Lol, sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one with experiance with people with issues/emotional problems. Jack is an extreme case, but there are people in real life that have similiar attitudes as her. I have some friends that are like this. They're protective of themselves and they lash out and push people away more as a defense mechanism then anything, but in all honesty, Jack is still a scared little girl worried the world is going to hurt her so she'll hurt it first. She not only shows it in her personality, but also how she dresses. She likes the style because it suits her, but she's also very aware that it's itimitading.
It is part of who she is, no matter where it initially came from, though, she she'll never really abandon it. Even if somehow (not seeing how it's possible and don't want it to because it would be quite a stretch), but even if she became bouncy, bubbly, and happy-go-lucky, she'd probably still keep the tats, get more tats, and have a mohawk. But, the doesn't mean that she doesn't want to sometimes feel like a woman and actually be "cute" sometimes. (I don't mean as if she's not cute now, I'm talking the basic, girly "I want to put on a dress and feel good" kind of cute, btw.) Problem is, there's only one person right now that she'd feel comfortable enough to do that in front of right now...and that's only if you chose wisely. <3

Oh god please no, I can't picture Jack with a pink mohawk. I think a tank top, blue jeans and some short hair is all the change Jack needs appearance wise.

That's basically what I said. If we were to see a change like that in Jack, there'd have to be some indication of that in her character. She hasn't reached that point in ME2. Like I said, if she were a person, then there's a lot more dynamics to weed through to find reasons for why x. but so far Jack hasn't indicated any interest in being "feminine" in any sense of the word.

No. Suicidegirlification in Jack is a no go. Not that most of them aren't f*ckin gorgeous, but its not her.

Shep would never dance again...

I'm primarily Colonist so that sounds interesting.
Also reminds me, where's Jake at? He finish Intermezzo? I was several blogs into it before my PC forced me off the grid.

Jake's here, looming in the wings. As for Intermezzo, I got so little feedback on it I figured it was boring and no one was reading it, so I stopped. I liked some of the ideas that the game had suggested - at least to me - and I had incorporated, that Jack was designed to be a weapon - a vanguard (pardon the pun) for what could have been an army of Jacks - not necessarily what TIM wanted, but then Teltin went rogue, no? It seemed plausible.
It also explained how she had plans to L5X implants in her head (mnemonic training anyone?), shuttles and weapons. She does say she flew for a while, got picked up and used - always assumed to be sexually - and it's not impossible, but Jack would have been dangerous from Day One. She did kill her way out of Teltin, after all. I always find it a tad odd that everyone seemed to assume she was helpless from the get-go. Utterly naive, yeah - that'll get you used and abused, but she's not even remotely stupid and wasn't then, and I think any abuse stopped relatively early. Everything else was emotional, save for the ocassional lapse in judgement or overwhelming force (it wasn't one or two guys in Purgatory - it was half-a-dozen. For one little girl? C'mon.).
Ah, well. Her eternally sufffering seems to be more popular. Personally, I like to give her more credit than that. *Shrug*
Oh, and as to villans and the "tough" always being depicted as tough and bad, that's generally true in the media - especially in movies since they tend to think their audiences are utter morons and need to be told everything. Personally, the most complex villan I've ever seen on TV was Scorpius from Farscape - and yeah, he looked like you'd expect - until he put on a Hawaiian shirt and became even more menacing. IMO, the best villans and tough guys/gals are the ones who aren't obvious. The most brutal killers on the planet are dowdy old men in dresses and funny hats, or live next door with torture chambers in their basements, and from 9-5 evey day book-keep. Hell, the BTK guy looked like a freaking accountant. Ted Bundy looked like a leading man on General Hospital.
Obvious villans are obvious because the writers think you're stupid and need to be led. There was never any doubt that Darth was the bad guy, but Tarkin was more sinister. And, to illustrate, Darth turns out to be some whiny little emo intelligence-insulting b!tch that needed a punch in the throat and the Grand Moff goes down as The Planet Destroyer.
Darth can kiss my aging behind.

There was quite a bit of anguish in Intermezzo from what I read. I should continue and see if I must demand a continuation (I'm assuming you let it drop). I've read a lot of FF and I can say your lack of feedback wasn't because of poor writing.JakeMacDon wrote...

Well, Jack wasn't unhappy, per se. Not "boo-hoo, poor me" unhappy, at any rate.
I should continue and see if I must demand a continuation (I'm assuming you let it drop).
Ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, actually. You can find it on FanFiction.net, as well. I also have an ongoing Farscape "series" there, if you get really bored.

It must be said, Scorpy is an example of how you damn well should write a villain (granted, Wayne's performance had a lot to do with it too), but nothing beats a villain who looks like pure evil poured into a glass, who then walks up to you with a smile on his face and means it when he congratulates you, or one that suddenly becomes very sympathetic and almost likeable - and then he puts you through unspeakable torture with nary a nanosecond of doubt, or suggests wholesale murder as a means to an end, or could go out and commit genocide and still get a good night's sleep after it all. Keep that audience guessing right up to the last reel, suckers
In the end though, I always quite liked the fella - he was consistant at least and kept his whining emo-evil-side very well hidden... unlike other "iconic" villains I could mention *cough*DarthVader*cough* <_<
Ok, back on topic
