[SPOILER]

As far as we have seen so far, Legion and Mordin seem temporary because they assist Shepard & Co. without being in the squad. What do they have in common: they're both important for their people. The same could be said about Tali and Garrus, but I digress. If ME3 is about "rallying civilizations" and be their errand boy help them to solve their problems, then it would be quite logical that "cameo" characters will appear when you're dealing with their race: Mordin-->salarians and genophage; Legion-->Geth; Samara-->asari??
Then, what could possibly do Jack in this? Nothing. She has no ties, she's no political or religious leader. The only thing she can do is killing people and cuddle with Shepard. She wouldn't work as "cameo" character, so my bets are on peremanent squad mate. (of course I'm biased and try to fill the holes in my argument with wild assumptions to make it valid).

[SPOILERS? MAYBE? IDK HOW THIS THREAD WORKS]
As far as we know Garrus has no more pull with the Hierarchy than any other random turian. It's like asking some random English guy if he can introduce you to the Queen. And while a Tali who is still a member of the Flotilla would have quite a bit of clout given her connections to the Admiralty Board, she has that chance of being exiled, which I would assume would make her far less influential. But then both of them have permanent status apparently, so that lends weight to your theory. ^_^

Still, saying Jack doesn't have anything to do is selling the writers short. I don't think anyone was expecting Garrus to become a vigilante back in the days following ME1. Granted, Jack would only have a few months to change her standing in the galaxy as opposed to the two years Garrus had, but it's BioWare. They could come up with anything.

To me the most compelling argument for her being a permanent squadmember is still the mention of her getting a redesign. If she was only going to be in a level or so, why would they risk giving her a new haircut and outfit instead of sticking with her 'iconic' ME2 look? It doesn't make a lot of sense. At first I thought Anderson might be an argument against that logic, but if you look he's not even wearing a unique outfit, he's wearing the exact same thing ManShep wears.

Another good argument for Jack's inclusion would be the fact that we're sorely lacking in biotics right now. Vega will probably be a pure soldier, so people who saved Ashley will have all of one biotic right now. That's a far cry from the roughly 50/50 ratio from the previous two games. Samara and Jacob are somewhat unlikely as permanent squadmates, so that just leaves Jack, Miranda and Thane. I think at least one of them has to be permanent from a strategy perspective.

I just realized that the tatooes on Jack's left arm is the concept arts of her appearance.

I still can't believe it. I mean why did they do it? It's like the best form of fanservice ever. Or they had such a hard time choosing the official Jack that when the decision was finally made, they couldn't bear to completely discard the others B)

@Orion

I hope you're wrong. Still, I'll make as many imports as necessary to answer for any of these possible "variables" lol

@Ravenstar

Good points all around. My initial feeling was that the game is do-able with just Liara, Vega, and the VS, and that everyone else is just added diversity (or, if they're dead, added difficulty). Writing/resource constraints would leave people like Thane, Mordin, Legion, Samara, etc as temporary, and if they're dead, too, I can't imagine what happens. Regardless, as you said, Jack is a valuable biotic, even moreso if we lose 2-3 biotics from ME2, and let's also just say she adds a certain other element that ME3 would be sorely lacking without her.

Doin my eventual ME3 import save and have a Jack question.

If Shepard does the Renegade "romance" option - you know, sexytime - does that prevent Jack from being loyal/surviving the suicide mission?

I'm pretty sure her loyalty is only dependent on doing her loyalty mission and the confrontation with Miranda.

Interesting. I had thought if Shepard went through with that option all Jack has to say for the rest of the game is "**** off."

No, if you use Jack for casual sex, she's still loyal, and she doesn't swear at you. But if you try to prompt more conversation out of her (re: "I want to talk") she coldly replies, "There's nothing to talk about."

I think that Jack swears at you if you lead her along an dget to know her, but ultimately turn her down. She gets understandably upset that Shepard got her to show her sensitive side, yet still pushed her away. I don't think there's a loyalty penalty, but she won't talk to Shepard ever again. She'll just yell at him.

Good to know. I never liked the get-to-know route to be honest, unless of course Shepard was pursuing it romantically.

Jack it seems doesn't really want to be friends. Or can't be. But this is more of a limitation in the game than I think any intended character decision, kind of like how Garrus perpetually calibrates if not being romanced.

I didn't get one "fvck off" this entire playthrough.  I heard every conversation except Murtock because we were keeping things just business. And what do I get? "We talked enough. You're just pissing around. No hard feelings, but I don't want to play".  So brilliant! It's no "I'm honored to work at your side", but damn, for Jack, I'd say that's almost friendly.

She even says "no hard feelings". I mean cmon, all I did was what she stated: ****** around, incessantly pry information out of her like I was some wide-eyed youth. Then you say this is just business after all those personal chats, and she still cares about your feelings as she turns you away.

*sharp inhale*  Impressive.

Jack was my favorite squaddie in ME2 I really hope she returns as a squaddie in ME3.

I already got my first playthrough planned kicking Reaper ass with Jack and Ash as my death squad

Hey Guys,

[SPOILER] I shall attempt to ignite some conversation: I read that Bioware suggested that if you romanced in both ME1 and ME2, that those two love interests will compete for your affection in ME3. Well, I used the Genesis download thing, and chose Liara as my love interest in ME1.

But I'm wondering how Jack would react to that. I as far as I can see, she would either react violently and try to kill Liara or understandably, be very hurt and maybe reject Shepard? Hmmm, I dunno, it's hard to judge Jack's reactions. What do you guys think?

Go on. Let the rampant speculation commence! Ready...................................GO!

I had this crazy dream after it was announced that Mass Effect 3 would have Kinect support where there would be Kinect exclusive level (otherwise cut-scene) where Jack is put into a prototype biotic's enhancer cyborg suit and then goes ape **** on a massive Cerberus/Husk army ending with Biotically pulling down a Reaper and causing it to crash. It would be an on-rails section where you use Biotic attacks via hand gestures and motions.

But all this puts a huge strain on her and she starts bleeding from her nose and stuff and goes unconscious and Shepard's like NOOO! Later she laughs when Shep asks for her forgiveness and she says that she enjoyed it, comparing it to becoming a god.

A moment like this could work in the game sans super suit since it seems to come out of nowhere.

What about for people for whom Jack is dead?  What about for people who are playing on the PC, or PS3?

[SPOILER]

Liara seems forgiving.  She's willing to be taken back by Shepard, in the SB DLC, even if he's romanced a ME2 LI.

Anyway. I don't think Jack would attack Liara, or anyone.  She would just dump him, maybe warn Liara that Shepard's a liar and a user.  As he dumped her, she definitely dumped Shepard, if he rejected her in the final romance scene, but, you know, gameplay mechanics.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. Wise words, York, wise words. More people should listen to your sage council.

I also like that new signature thing you have going on there, 'I liked Jack before it was cool', made me chuckle.

How's it goin bietches

Got an inquiry, does Tech Armor look different depending on Shep's gender? I ask because...

Muahahah! I'll prolly determine it the old fashioned way but I thought I'd ask first.

Depends on the confrontation. Somehow I suspect if you reject the ME1 LI, then it will be "sorry, I've moved on" and they should understand.  If you take the ME1 LI back, then both the ME1 and ME2 LI should be on your case. "Why did you cheat on me then?" Ashley says, "Why did you act like you wanted to be with me?" says Jack. Romancing someone in ME2 knowing you'll get back with the ME1 LI just doesn't make sense to me unless you're a playa or you're rebounding from the rejection on Horizon.

In-game, I think if you go back to your ME1 LI then Jack's reaction will be similar to the one in her love scene if you turn her away. I'm hoping for more biotic punches, though, if that's the case.

Wow, Jack looks great in Tech Armor.
