It's very quiet in this thread nowadays...............:

"Can you hear anything?"

"No"

"Precisely. Do you know why we can't hear anything?"

"No"

"Because there are no sounds to be heard!"

Well....  this thread has gone from being a Jackolyte thread to a Jackomancer thread, what with her "cute bum" and apparent need for "hugs".  Being one of the early Jackolytes (I started participating in this thread in its teens), and speaking for myself alone, I came here to avoid the gooey hearts-moons-flowers- horsesh!t of the other lovey-wuvvy threads.  I didn't come here to participate in some gushing circle jerk, I came to discuss - hopefully maturely and intelligently - an awesome character in a great game.  Frankly, that's slacked off of late.

I'm not going to speculate what Jack will be like in ME3 because I don't care - and won't until next year.  How she will look is also irrelevant - as long as it is in character - and this is the really important bit - in character - I won't give a sh!t about that either.

.....

Alas.  Such as it is.  Have your fun, for who am I to dissuade you?

Also go get Jean-Luc's Jack hi-rez texture.  You'll be glad you did.  Jean-Luc kicks hearty posterior.

Later.

I beg your fvcking miniscule pardon?  Was this childish and offensive response even remotely proportinate to what I said?

Or did you want to try again?

Is it official now, have you gone insane? Mad with power as it were.

JakeMac's brand of no holds bar posting does rub people the wrong way sometimes, but he is a Jackolyte, and probably deserves to be  treated as such. And in this case maybe you should have just ignored him.

Good Luck and Stay Safe.:o

Nothing I said deserved the response I got.  If you want to gush over Jack - create your own thread and go do it there.  Anyone who reads this thread from the beginning knows this thread is not the place for that.

If the Jack thread is dead - and it certainly looks as if that's becoming the case - this hearts-and-flowers crap and that hyper-defensive responsive sh!t is the reason.

Hmmm, it appears I've once again transgressed the boundaries of normal social conduct and become insane with power!

Well, in my defence I did warn people this might become a reality and asked them to warn me, if I displayed any warning signs......nonetheless, apologies are due:

I apologise for insulting you, JakeMacDon, and would like to extend an olive branch and ask that we may begin this relationship anew! And now for my customary goodbye:

Good Luck and Stay Safe B)

P.S. Incidently, I did make my own thread, and it's not full of gushing, flowers-and-hearts crap and it's the real reason why this thread has had little activity as everyone has migrated there! 'Nuff said.

Have you now?  Well, neither participating in nor starting a thread gives you control over anything posted therein.  It certainly doesn't give you the right to post brainless insults at someone for no good reason.  If you're bipolar, take your meds.  If you've been institutionalized, ask one of your handlers to increase your dosages.  If you're just some 14-year-old sh!thead, tell your mom to decrease the handjobs she gives you so more blood gets to your brain, you pile of secreted scrotal scrapings.

Not accepted.  Take a few days off and learn how to converse with adults, and I'll consider it.  Also, if you're going to insult someone, try creating your own insults instead of stealing them from Red Dwarf.  See above for examples.

P.S. Incidently, I did make my own thread, and it's not full of gushing, flowers-and-hearts crap and it's the real reason why this thread has had little activity as everyone has migrated there! 'Nuff said.

I've been to your thread.  There's nothing there that couldn't be discussed here.

It's irrelevant, regardless.  Frankly, I don't even know why I bothered.

Hey Jake, it's a public thread. The only rule is stay on topic, and anyone can start one. You should know you don't make a problem go away by ignoring it, make an effort to talk about what you want to talk about, and others will join you. I'm interested in any discussion about Reapers, hugs, Jack's life in the past, present, and future, torture, love, dyson spheres, turian erogenous zones, unicorns, anything and everything. Obviously people are getting into the hype and are either waiting for substantial news, speculating, discussing unsubstantial news like it was substantial, or are just tired and won't give a sh!t until 6 months have passed, which is probably better for everyone's health.

You guys were all joking around with the insults right?
Cuz I just read it all as sarcasm and laughed my ass off.

But yes, you are right, this thread is for Jack praise and not Jack romance. Sorry for leading it into lovey dovey horsesh!t by commenting on her beautiful rump.

But you have to admit, this last page became very entertaining as a result. And I've been a lurker of this thread for a while (though I just barely registered) and read a lot at the beginning, middles, and end, so I think I'm right in saying it has gone off into the lovey sh!t many times.

You really are a pretentious little ******. It does not matter if people make new threads, what they post in them or how long they have been taken part. I tried apologising for a post I made for giggles and you can go to hell. And yes, I like Red Dwarf, and quoted some of their spectacular insults, and once again it doesn't matter if I have or if I didn't use my own. Take that pole from out of your arse mate.

Yeah, conversations tend to lead quickly form one thing to another.
But the name of the thread being "Into the Bad Girl" is also misleading if romance talk is not allowed at all. If someone walks up to you and says "hey, I'm into you", doesn't that sound like they have romantic interests?

On a side note, I swear I am going to start saying Good Luck and Stay Safe to people as a farewell, after seeing you use it all the time.

Good Luck and Stay Safe

Well, then, there we are.  It was a mistake to even bring it up and I regret it.  Personally, I see no reason to get into a tizzy or speculate about something that will likely change half-a -dozen times before the game's even finished.

People have short memories.

Whatever.

I saw nothing in Slurms' original outburst that indicated it was anything but an an immature and cretinously unprovoked series of slurs. He has no right to act outraged because he suddenly realized what a stupid thing it was for him to have posted.  I saw no reason to leave it unchallenged.  I'm not five years old.  I know when someone pulls crap and then realizes they shouldn't have shot their mouths off and then try to backpedal.  I simply gave him an example of how to do it properly.

But yes, you are right, this thread is for Jack praise and not Jack romance. Sorry for leading it into lovey dovey horsesh!t by commenting on her beautiful rump.

I don't care if you do that.  But, if that's all you do, what's the frigging point of even trying to start something serious?

Indeed.  And you'll notice who does it, as well, and who doesn't.  You might also notice that those who didn't don't tend to come 'round no mo.

Wonder why that is?

Alright, I'm getting tired of this. You wanna why I got angry? You attacked me for being a fanboy and for being 'gushy', and by extension many others who have posted in this thread and are guilty of this supposed crime as well, when you are so clearly a massive fanboy yourself. You say you've posting in this thread since it's teens? So, what, that's like over a year now? Well, mate, that suggests that you are in fact a raging Fanboy, you may like to kid yourself, by telling yourself you only engage in 'serious' conversation about Jack, well there's a world of difference there, isn't there?. Do you really believe that I am in love with Jack, or anyone else is who makes a similar post? No, we aren't, the fact is that the difference is that we might just be treating the matter at hand a little less seriously than you.

And for the record, I did make serious posts about Jack when I first came to this thread, and perhaps the reason why this 'serious' conversation has waned of late, might have something to do with the fact there's only so much you can say about Jack, as much as it might pain you to hear this, she is not a character from classic literature. In fact, even the guy who founded this thread hasn't posted in months, because perhaps, he might have found some more productive method of spending his time.

Don't treat other people less for being fanboys or fangirls, 'cos you are one. The fact of the matter remains, that the vast majority of people who bought Mass Effect 2 and still really enjoyed it, would never even consider posting at all in the Bioware Social Network, and *shock* *horror*, they might have only had one playthrough! So, stop criticizing others in the thread, for not living up to your pathetic pretensions about rules and regulations of thread posting!

Furthermore, you criticized me for being heavy-handed? You should evaluate your initial post. It is a scathing criticism of what is, frankly, the smallest crime. We were only engaging in some harmless banter. Get over yourself, and do us all favour by taking yourself a little less seriously.

Good Luck and Stay Safe B)

@ whomever is pissed by the recent "lovey dovey horse sh!t"

Sadly it seems all serious things to discuss have been discussed in great detail already, and it's sometimes boring to repeat the same old topics. I didn't think commenting on Jack's beauty was anything close to the same as romantic discussion (I did it with the intent of turning the conversation back to Jack). Hug jokes could maybe be viewed as romantic, but it's still just a hug, and most everybody hugs. I didn't see anything go beyond that; no one said anything like "I'm in love with Jack even though she's a fictional character, she is the only one for me, and I don't care that she isn't real because I'd rather live in the bliss of insane love than face reality."

I think we need more fanfiction to discuss. Unfortunately I have not tried my hand at fanfics, and I have no idea if I would be any good at it. Has Mondo written anything lately?

Ahh yes, the people so lacking in perspective that they only comment on things as shallow as hair or "what will Tali look like", they are many. They're also not going anywhere, so the only way to get over that is to either A) Have more intelligent posters, and/or B) Current intelligent posters need to contribute more. The "unserious" people are just as annoyed by Mondo's walls of text as serious people are annoyed by the gushing One-Word Johnny, there just needs to be balance. Some lovey-dovey or sex talk isn't bad, correct me if I'm wrong but you once announced the topic change to "Jack's ta-ta's", but that was in the midst of super-serious debate, so regardless, it was refreshing, no? Except right now it's at 2% serious and 98% unserious which is way off the normal 90/10 ratio. We may start losing sponsors.

Is this honestly all y'all have to talk about?  Exhausted everything Jack already, have we?

You're the one who's been here since the teens, why don't you tell me? I think I know exactly where you're coming from, cuz I talked about Tali for 6 months straight until I'd heard everything that was actually and theoretically possible and impossible. And since I didn't want to rehash everything, I sat back and acted like a moderator.

The truth is, you can rehash old topics when there are new people to add perspective. They may surprise you, and at the very least, new posters will be reading these "rediscussions" for the first time and might learn something, cuz they're not going to sift through hundreds of pages to find something of interest.

Well, then, there we are.  It was a mistake to even bring it up and I regret it.  Personally, I see no reason to get into a tizzy or speculate about something that will likely change half-a -dozen times before the game's even finished.

It is rather frivolous, yes, but I think most know that and like to speculate for fun. Many people also have this notion that Bioware is reading our every post and if we don't publicly state our approval/disapproval of every bit of information that comes out, Casey won't know what to change/improve

Nice talking to you, Goat.  Have fun, regardless.

A stranger in his own home, this is not acceptable. I'm serious tho, don't run away from your problems, I'll start calling you Jack. In the meantime, I've been meaning to end my hiatus from reading your FF, maybe finishing it will successfuly destroy any hope I have left for Jack.and I can stop squeeing (No offense intended, I have a love-hate relationship with sad stories and it's true of the first couple well-written chapters I've read from Intermezzo), if that story does end on a cliffhanger, I have a suggestion for how you can spend some of your time waiting for ME3 to come out ;)

I have to say that, despite the fact that I like you Slurms, and that you've always seemed like a nice guy to me, I'm completely on JakeMacDon's side here. His post in no way merited the response he received. We all have our own views/opinions/preferences on what the best way to discuss Jack is, but we all come here to discuss Jack. Disagreements about the direction/type/quality of discussion are inevitable, and shouldn't ignite baseless anger and unnecessarily rude posts. To be honest, I expect more maturity from posters on the Jack thread, if only because it takes a bit of maturity to appreciate Jack herself.

That said, I'd welcome a substantive discussion of Jack's character. (Although I'd probably be more of a lurker than a contributor to said conversation since I don't think I have a full grasp of her character yet--even now!) Does anyone have any topic suggestions? Is there a classical literary character that reminds you of Jack? Should we compare and contrast Jack with other female badasses like Ellen Ripley and Teuta of Illyria? Do we want to dissect our favorite Jack-quotes for insight into her character?
