The mild breeze of an unspecified world blew gently on the base of Shepard's skin. He stood haunched over a holographic mapping of the battlefield ahead of him, planning his next move. With him had been Ashley Williams, who sat behind him at the far wall, rifle in hand. Her grip was loose, and she refrained from acting on it, eyes unwavering at the scathed, mud-ridden floors. Dark strands of hair fell loose in front of her as the building shook, and she wished at the back of her mind that she made the effort to tie it back; it was becoming too much of an liability.
Garrus Vakarian entered the large, doorless corridors soon after Shepard finalized the plan in his head, and with him were two turian soldiers, who carried a third, batarian civilian. They rushed ahead of him, and placed the batarian on an unoccupied bench to compensate for a lack of a gurney. Garrus's thick, armored hide pressed against the wall ahead of Shepard. He reached for his sniper rifle, holding it in place with one hand, and popped the overused heat sink with the other.
Shepard took two steps from the map, which signaled Ashley to rise from her seat. She brushed the strands of hair that blinded her behind, as she treaded to Shepard's side.
"So what's the plan?" She asked, with a jaded tone.
Shepard kept his eyes on the map, it's bright blue lines reflecting against Shepard's eyes. Before he could speak, however, a snarl erupted from the sunburned hallway. Shepard quickly retrieved his Mattock assault rifle, and aimed it towards the opening of their 'stronghold'. An unethusiastic Williams slowly retrieved her Avenger, and aimed it the same time Garrus did. Shepard signaled them both to follow him and cut through the hologram, which caused it to dissipate.
On the outside of the small room they took refuge in laid an futuristic graveyard, painted an orange-bronze by the sun's setting. The snarling ceased, and prompted Shepard to halt. The wind howled a sickening tune, as silence set upon fallen planet.
In the next instant, Shepard was floored by a husk who clung to the ceiling of the opening, waiting for a opportune moment to strike. It struck the chestplate of his armor wildly, intent on drawing blood, while Shepard's left hand gripped the neck of his attacker. His right arm curled into a hook, and his omni-tool assembled. With a small beep, a blade spun from the base of Shepard's hand and dug into the mechanical flesh of the husk, killing it upon impact. As it fell, hundreds more appeared, and charged his position. Shepard had only seconds to spare before being swarmed by the monsters. However, he was paid a few minutes more when both Ashley and Garrus tore through the horde's ranks with an exploding hail of gunfire.
Shepard stood his ground with the two of them, Mattock again retrieved. "Hold them off!" he shouted, and joined his friends in their assault.
It wasn't long before a faint noise that sounded like a guitar riff was heard in the distance. It increased in volume, with every second, and gave Shepard little to no time to comprehend it. When he looked ahead, Shepard had sighted down a sky car, flying dangerously close to the ground below it. As it's identity was hidden, Shepard quickly assumed that it was hostile. He reached for a grenade, magnetized onto his suit, and hurled it at the feet of the husks. As the car sped closer, Shepard waited, until the bottom of it hovered over the grenade. When it did, Shepard detonated it, causing a large explosion that nearly consumed himself and his squadmates.
"YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Shepard's eyes grew wide as the skycar escaped the explosion, itself exploding with vocals and music. Shepard rolled out of the way -- as did Ashley and Garrus -- as the sky car descended, and struck the metal floor. It slid against it, scraping against itself, until it slammed into the wall that covered Shepard temporary base of operations. The song never failed.
It's doors opened, and heavy, metallic boots stepped from it. The armor been originally blue in color, but was now washed into a bland, tattered grey shell. The casings led all the way up to the driver's knees, and was succeeded by a black jumpsuit, which fully clothed the figure's body, save for the upper torso, which revealed a fan shirt of a long lost music band.
The driver looked bigger behind the wheel.
"So..." The driver called, revealing a voice that Shepard knew all too well. "It's gonna be like that."
The driver wasted no time in closing the distance between Shepard. He was shoved against the nearest wall, and before he could respond, the driver's lips met his.
"Be glad I'm feeling generous, right now." The driver said, after breaking the kiss. Shepard, who up until this point had been serious as ever, chuckled lightly.
"Welcome back to the team, Jack."

Yeah, these sort of things happen frequently when I sleep. The trick is remembering most of it.
