Tali has been around for 2+ years. Miranda has been around for less than two weeks. There will be plenty of Miranda fan art and videos eventually.

People on the forums love Tali but I bet a majority of the people that play this game and don't give a **** about the forums choose Miranda. Most normal people aren't attracted to aliens... and Miranda has giant boobs and a great ass.
Yes but that is because people on forums care about detail. And change and challenge can throw off people with history on the first game. I appreciate the change. And i understand where people like the more unique tali. However the point is clear that Tali= easy. Miranda= =hard. Easy is mainstream, hard is typically not. There is soo many categories to judge that i honestly thing the entire subject is unjudgeable not only beacuse its entirely opinion, but becuase circumstances dictating each's existing membership in the game are so far apart.

You know I going to have to agree with you while Miranda is not my first, I see her buttings heads way to much with my Shephard both are very much alike It would be a I love/I hate relationship. Miranda is a harder because of the she is soo unfamaliarilty and for some her confidence is misread as arrorgance when its not the interesting thing about Miranda is that she believes she has no self worth ..... I honestly like both of the Characters alot they are strong points to both of them i don't see one as being better than other.

But do you judge a character's popularity by the amount of fanfic and art etc the character has. Is Tali more popular? Probably. Are her fans more obsessive? Definitely. I love every single one of the ME2 characters to be honest. They each have their own quirks. I joined the "Tali fan club" cause I romanced her in 2 of my 3 playthroughs. That's the only reason. I have posted twice on that huge thread. It's getting ridiculous now..

I agree her face was a little chubby for such an amazing body, but we eat well on my Normandy after I got the Spices from the citadel. Chakwas can do a little lipo on her face in the med bay for ME3. Hell, I paid the 50k in mats just to fix my face, Miranda is good for the credits or BioWare willing, we can work out an "arrangement" with my FemShep. ::wink:: Come on, its very clear Miranda is Bi, can we just say screw fox news and get on with it; I have an empty quarters just waiting for Miranda. Hell, Kelly might even stop by to join in the festivities. Add Liliana and my life is complete. We all know Liliana is into the 4somes! "Let's never talk of this again."

I think we'll have to wait until Me3 to truly answer that. For me it's easy.. Tali. Miranda is off putting and ego-maniacal while Tali has the whole low self esteem thing going on. It's much easier and more satisfying to build up a self esteem then to have to tear one down.
Actually if you took the time to talk to Miranda and go deeper, you would see she has very low self esteem and doesn't think much of herself.

Shes an ugly quarian douche in a bio-suit she might as well be a volus and she sounds like she works in a call center in india.
"Hi this is Tali thank you for calling dell technical support!"
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of miranda either but at least you can see what she looks like and has a better accent.

Speaking about these forums, Tali is the more popular one (differs really, depending on the place). As ODST said, more people can relate to her youth.

It's SUPER EFFECTIVE!
Difference between popular and obsession though... a lot of the same people are posting the Tali threads...

I posted once in that thread to show my support. Honestly, it doesn't matter to me that they want to discuss the character they like and that they enjoy the discussion enough to post a bunch of times. As long as they aren't flamin' people, or jumping on people for not liking Tali, then that's great. The fact that the thread has gotten so big in the first place just shows that the Tali fanbase is alive and well. Can't say the same for Jacob or Zaheed. Where are their fan threads?
Oh, this notion that romancing Miranda is hard isn't quite right. I ended up romancing her simply by having a normal conversation. Once I realized we were heading down that path, I had to put a stop to it since I was working on Kelly at the time. Bioware didn't make you work for any romance in this game. If you want it, you can get it without any effort.

Honestly, what would you expect in a thread showing appreciation for one character/thing? I've visited other fan threads and they're all pretty much the same. Even posting "I agree" in the thread is showing appreciation and though it doesn't add much to the converstaion, it's enough to show support which is what they're trying to do in the first place.

The Tali thread is one of the nicest thread I have been one, very few trolls or flaming, and people who do usually get shut down real fast, I personally like Tali better but miranda was a nice addition to the team, much better than ashley imo.

I agree entirely. It is a very polite thread. One of the better ones, But I am gettin burnt out on Tali from hearin about her all the time. And about the fanart, I don't often go to game forums so I really wouldn't know to be honest.

I can understand, but I'll admit that I'm guilty of dicussing a character to death in a super huge thread. One of my favorite games is No More Heroes and I could talk about Travis Touchdown constantly. The character is awesome. I understand that some people aren't as hardcore about it, though. However, I wouldn't want someone to tell me that I couldn't/shouldn't talk about the character with like minded people on a public forum. Let them have their fun. If they want to make a 300 page thread about Tali and people are contributing and not flaming, then let them have at it. People who aren't as hardcore can simply post occassionally. There are tons of other threads to read and post in.

Miranda was under developed (character-wise, heh). There was potential with her whole sister / father story.. but it didn't pan out to be as powerful or emotional / interesting as Tali's (or Garrus' for that matter... and certainly not Mordin's.. he had one of the best stories).
Tali did have the benefit of being a carry-over from ME1, which means more background / history.. thus her much stronger story. Both Miranda and Jacob were bland (Jacob exceedingly).
Hard to blame Jacob being bland though.. as a character he is the most emotionally and psychologically stable crew member on the ship (maybe even more than Shepard). He handles the whole thing with his father in a very mature manner - he's a strong minded / willed individual.
Stable, well-adjusted characters tend to be somewhat less interesting
In ME3 there's a lot of potential for Miranda to be fully realized as a character... lots of possibilities if you went paragon ending and now her loyalties are strained between Shepard / Cerberus. Lots of room to make her more interesting and compelling.
Tali will without a doubt provide an amazing storyline in ME3... I suspect we'll get to see the future of the Quarians through her story (do they war with the Geth to retake their homeworld? Do they put that war aside to help Shepard against the Reapers?). I see so many possible interesting stories related to the Quarians and Tali in ME3... I hope they put a lot of focus in developing it well.

I have huge loves for characters too. But usually can't talk about them on forums like this (example: Master Chief and Sarge Johnson). The forums are too hard to get an intelligent discussion going. Maybe I am bitter?
But you can't expect civility and respect out of everyone.
Tis teh interwebs.
